The Metropolitan Area Frankfurt/Rhein-Main Frankfurt / Rhein-Main is considered among the leading european metropolitan areas. The economic area Frankfurt / Rhein- Main has 5,5 million. inhabitants. Frankfurt / Rhein-Main is characterized by high dynamic economy and above national average gross domestic product. The area Frankfurt / Rhein-Main is affected by hard facts like money, banks and the international traffic hub (secondlargest airport in Europe, central motorway and railway lines hub) The area Frankfurt / Rhein-Main is still growing.

Increase of Urban Settlement Shrinking of Open Spaces Settlement and infrastructure areas are increasing at the expense of open spaces. Settlements are not enclosed in the landscape anymore but quite contrarily the open spaces are enclosed in a compressed urban framework.
