EVOLUTION ULTIMATE DAIKIN has achieved a wealth of world s firsts over the last three centuries. Based on four decades experience in designing, manufacturing and applying air-cooled chiller and combined with the cutting-edge DC inverter technology from Japan, DAIKIN has developed a hexagonal modular inverter air-cooled chiller unit that features ultra IPLV. Saving Space The unique shape design increases the area and efficiency of heat exchangers. Moreover, it ensures smooth air suction of the heat exchangers and enables the compact horizontal installation of several modules, so the installation space is optimized. Ultra Efficiency To efficiently save energy Unique Outline To largely save space Low Carbon To fulfill social responsibilities Modular Design To meet different needs UAL-AR5 Modular Inverter Air Cooled Chiller Ultra Efficiency With the DC inverter, the unit can always ensure high efficiency under part load. With the stepless capacity modulation, the unit achieves a larger integrated part load value (IPLV). Modular Design Based on the module UAL40 (100 kw), up to 20 modules of the same model can be combined to meet different load and design needs for various buildings. Environment Friendly This unit adopts the chlorine-free refrigerant R410A, harmless to the ozonosphere and friendly to the environment. While the electricity consumption of the unit is decreased, the carbon emission is reduced, slowing down its impact on greenhouse effect. 2

Saving Space Globally Initiative Unique Shape Innovative Shape Design With the unique hexagonal design, the area of heat exchangers is increased in the limited space and several units can be closely installed horizontally, so the installation space is optimized. Air suction Comparison of Installation Space The unit greatly optimizes the use of installation space. It saves much larger space than the traditional integrated air-cooled chiller does. UAL40 Saving space by 25% Air suction Air heat exchanger UAL-AR5 can be installed in an irregular space. A large integrated air-cooled chiller cannot be easily installed in an irregular or limited space. On the contrary, The unit can optimize the use of installation space owning to its unique shape. As shown in the following figure, the large integrated units cannot be installed on an irregular roof, but nine units of UAL40 with the same cooling capacity can be installed on the roof. 7m 2 28m 2 Integrated air cooled chiller The installation space of a 400 kw UAL40 system is about 25% smaller than that of an integrated air cooled chiller with the same capacity. Example The installation space required by a 900 kw integrated air cooled chiller 20 UAL40 units cover an area of 116 m 2 The integrated air cooled chiller covers an area of 150 m 2 Nine 100 kw UAL40 units can be installed separately on the roof. The installation space of a 2000 kw UAL40 system is about 2% smaller than that of an integrated air cooled chiller with the same capacity.

Ultra Efficiency Outstanding Energy Saving Performance Cutting-edge DC Inverter Technology With five DC inverter scroll compressors, three DC inverter fan motors, and the cutting-edge inverter control technology, This unit can achieve ultra performance and stepless capacity modulation. Fan IPLV DC Inverter Motor DC Inverter Fan 6.6 Airside Heat Exchanger The hexagonal design increases the surface area. Heat exchangers are distributed on the side of the unit. Compressor DC Inverter Scroll Compressor Motor Efficiency Curve The DC inverter motor is adopted for the drives of the compressor and fan. The motor adjusts the capacity output of the unit according to the real-time load changes, ensuring the unit constantly operating with the optimum energy efficiency. DC Inverter Scroll Compressor By building a permanent magnet reluctance motor design into an integrated DC swing structure, the compressor minimizes the motor rotor s loss of magnetic eddy currents as well as the gap between the magnet and slot. In addition, this compressor delivers a larger torque and higher efficiency than rival products. Ensuring high efficiency of motor at low/high speed Reluctance DC Motor DC Motor Rotor AC Motor Rotating Speed [rps] 4 Reluctance DC Motor

EER of UAL-AR5 under Part Load According to the IPLV, the air conditioning system operates under partial load of 0% to 80% most of the time. With the DC inverter compressor and the inverter controller and other technologies, the unit can achieve the highest energy efficiency ratio (EER). Outstanding Energy Saving Performance The unit is eqiupped with the DC inverter, the new efficient heat exchanger, and the advanced inverter modular controller to achieve the highest EER under part load. The IPLV of the pump is up to6.6, and the COP 7.8 under the IPLV working condition, indicating that this unit is more outstanding in energy conservation than the traditional capacity product. Performance Curve under Part Load COP 5.0 4.5 The maximum increase of COP is 65% The maximum 65% COP is increased. 4.0 Energy Saving Area.5.0 2.5 2.0 0% 10% 20% 0% 40% 50% 60% 70% 80% 90% 100% Load Rate COP of the traditional integrated air cooled chiller COP of the UAL-AR5 modular inverter air cooled chiller Note: The unit (indicated by points on the curves) are under following working conditions : water flow 0.172 m /(h*kw), outlet water 7 C, ambient temperature 5 C. IPLV: 6.6. 1 Under IPLV working conditions, the maximum COP: 7.8. 2 The maximum COP: 4.45. Note: IPLV calculation and testing working conditions of 1 and 2 comply with regulations of ARI. is based on part load cooling condition: water flow 0.172 m /(h*kw), outlet water temp 7 C, ambient temp 5 C. Precisely Controlled Water Temperature The unit automatically and precisely adjusts outlet water to be setting temperature with the precision of ±0.5 C by the stepless capacity modulation. Outlet Water Temperature ( C) The outlet water temperature curve of UAL-AR5 The outlet water temperature curve of the common air cooled chiller Time Note: The default water temperature control precision is ±1 C. For ±0.5 C precision, the water volume of water system must be 2 times that of the minimum water volume, and the water flow of cooling/heating water must be larger than nominal water flow. Fit for Systems with Large Temperature Difference 5 6 7 8 9 10 The inlet and outlet water of UAL-AR5 varies from 5 C to 10 C which meets design requirements of all types of HVAC systems. This temperature design can cut down the initial investment in water system, and largely reduce system operation expense. Investment and Expenses Temperature Difference C 5

Modular Design To Meet Various Needs Modular Design to Meet Various Needs* The unit can be implemented with up to 20 modules of the cooling capacity of 100 kw to 2000 kw. Thanks to the modular design, modules of the same type can be combined, and then applied to different designs to easily meet all types of market demands. Note: the function with* can only be achieved with a modular controller. Up to 20 modules can be combined The cooling capacity: 100 kw to 2, 000 kw Smart Defrosting* The unit can achieve alternate defrosting of multiple modules, without affecting the temperature of supplied water. Moreover, the indoor fan coils don't have to be stopped, without affecting the normal operation. On the contrary, when the integrated air cooled chiller shifts from the heating mode to the cooling mode to start defrosting in winter, the master unit along with the indoor fan coils must be stopped, affecting the normal operation. Start at Low Frequency to Impact Less on Power Grid When a traditional speed-fixed unit is started, the current is much higher than the operating current, which significantly impacts the power grid. On the contrary, when the unit is started with low frequency, the current is lower, which impacts less on the power grid. Heating Heating Heating Defrosting Electrical Cabinet with Door The electrical cabinet can be opened by a special door, which is an innovative design for space optimization and convenient maintenance. Industrial Initiative Design Backup Operation for Convenient Maintenance While multiple units are operating and one stops working, other units can still be running, without affecting normal use.
