rvm4c Installation Guide Basic Hardware Installation EN 3 Basic Hardware Installation Instructions 1. Position the unit. 2. Connect the phone line. 3. Connect the video cables to the BNC connectors. 4. Connect the control outputs. 5. Connect sensors to the unit directly or through an alarm system (optional). 6. Connect the video output to a monitor (optional). 7. Connect an Arm/Disarm button (optional). 8. Apply power (12 VDC to 15VDC, 1A minimum). It is very important to use the correct polarity when connecting the power. Wiring The negative power input, negative power output, circuit common, and unit chassis are tied together in the rvm4c. If the control panel used with the rvm4c has ground fault detection, any ground within the system causes a ground fault condition. It is recommended to use an isolated 12 VDC or 24 VDC power supply for the rvm4c.

rvm4c Installation Guide Wiring EN 5 Wiring to a D4412, D6412, DS7220 or DS7240 Control Panel When using the verify feature with a D4412, D6412, DS7220 or DS7240 Control Panel, only one phone line is required. Figure 3 shows a typical configuration. Connections are dependent upon the control panel programming. rvm4c Installation Guide Wiring EN 6 Operation When the control panel detects an alarm, it triggers (through a PO output or an auxiliary relay) one or more of the alarm inputs on the rvm4c. This allows the rvm4c to capture pre- and post-alarm images. At the same time, the control panel seizes the phone line and sends its alarm report to the central station. When the reports are complete, the control panel releases the phone line and sends a Verify signal to the rvm4c, allowing the video report to be sent. While the rvm4c is sending reports, it closes Output Contact #4. The control panel buffers any additional alarms until the rvm4c completes reporting. Programming the control panel To trigger a specific camera for a specific zone alarm, program specific zone function outputs. Each of these outputs can then be used to trigger alarm inputs 1 through 4 on the rvm4c. You can also program only one (or more) zone function outputs to trigger as many alarm inputs as required. Program one control panel zone as 24-hour, voice active. Connect this zone to Activation Output #4 on the rvm4c. This zone requires an EOL resistor. Program one output as Voice Request. Connect this output to the Verify terminals on the rvm4c.
rvm4c Installation Guide Wiring EN 7 Wiring to other control panels Two phone lines are required when using control panels other than the Bosch D4412, D6412, DS7220, or DS7240. Figure 4 shows typical wiring (actual connections dependent upon the individual control panel). Connect the contact between the input and ground. A momentary contact triggers the rvm4c.
rvm4c Installation Guide Wiring EN 8 To prompt the rvm4c to send the stored pictures, a twosecond, momentary contact closure must be applied to the Verify terminals.
rvm4c Installation Guide Control Center Installation EN 9 Control Center Installation Follow the instructions in the window that opened when you inserted the CD or: 1. Click on the Start button, at the bottom left corner. 2. Choose Settings from the menu. 3. Choose Control Panel from the Settings menu. 4. Double click on the Add/Remove Programs icon. 5. Click on the Install button to start the installation. 6. Insert the installation CD or diskette in the drive. 7. Click on the Next button. The Windows installation program searches the disc for the Control Center installation program and displays it in the Command line for installation program edit box. 8. Click on the End button. 9. The Control Center Installation screen appears. To cancel the installation, choose Cancel. To continue the installation, choose Next. 10. At this point, several files required for the installation process are copied from the installation disc to your computer. The Choose Destination Location window appears. This screen is used to determine the directory in which Control Center is installed. It is recommended that you install the program in the default directory. The directory name appears in the Destination Folder panel. After the destination folder has been chosen, click on the Next button to continue the installation. 11. Repeat for the destination of the data files. Click Next to select the program folder. The setup program now copies the program files from the installation CD to your hard drive.

rvm4c Installation Guide Checking Installation & Operation EN 12 Checking the Installation and Operation 1. Operation: When connected to power, the green lights stay ON. The red LED flashes for about 20 seconds before turning OFF. The red LED lights when the system is in Armed Mode, and is off when the system is Disarmed. 2. Voltage reading: The voltage should read: 9 VDC to 15 VDC from the 12VDC&GND. These terminals are located with the sensor inputs. 3. Checking the phone connection: Make sure you have the correct phone line connected to the unit, then call the unit from another phone. The unit should answer after 1-2 rings. You should hear a series of beeps from the modem. 4. Checking video transfer to your PC (control center): You must enter a new site and telephone number in the Control Center software. After the transmitting unit establishes a connection, the screen shows Modem Connect message. At the first connection, you are requested to enter a password. You can enter a New password or press Cancel. The first video picture appears. Note: (you can now update the Transmitting Unit with the initial system settings). For more details see the Main Manual.
rvm4c Installation Guide Checking Installation & Operation EN 13 5. Sensor Input Checking: The input sensor can be set to either Normally Opened or Normally Closed. If the sensor changes state, the sensor light turns to bright red and starts to flash. It continues to flash until the sensor returns to normal. Note: If a sensor trips with the system armed, the unit calls the Control Center. The defined number is dialed, regardless it is set to Normally Opened or Normally Closed.
rvm4c Installation Guide Troubleshooting EN 14 Troubleshooting Unit does not answer: Verify the power is on, according to the installation instructions. Replace the unit with a telephone and call the site. If the line is functioning, the telephone rings. NO VIDEO message appears in video window: Check video signal using a monitor. The system constantly calls the Control Center (in night mode): Check which sensor is bright red. Verify that sensors are correctly defined (NO/NC) in the software. Verify that your sensors are connected to the Transmitting Unit. The Transmitting Unit does not call the Control Center: Verify that the system is armed through the Control Center. Verify that the sensors are tripping the inputs.
