February 2018 WORLDWIDE NEWSLETTER Monthly NEWSLETTER The Aerospace Non Destructive Testing Reference TESTIA is pleased to share the latest news from its branches over the world: TESTIA is opening a new branch in Canada! For more information, don't hesitate to reach out at canada@testia.com
Operations are scheduled to begin on March, 1st! This month, Airbus' Awards for Excellence Worldwide Competition ended. TESTIA's LineMAP / LineSIZING combo was among the shortlisted projects and we are proud to have been ranked in the world's top 3 in the Customer Value and Satisfaction category. This project is the result of months of work between TESTIA and Airbus. Congratulations to the team!
Through its network, TESTIA provides general and Aerospace specific NDT training in all methods, according to EN 4179 and NAS-410 requirements. Consult our training schedule here. Work in progress... In last month's newsletter, we explained TESTIA UK was undergoing a makeover in order to have a brand new state-of-the-art training centre. The works are still in progress but everything is going smoothly and future students should very soon enjoy the new facilities! Current pictures below!
Airbus UTPA training For the first time, ENSIA recently provided Ultrasonic Phased Array training in the facilities of Centro Bahía de Cádiz (CBC) for AIRBUS personnel. Testia Mexico's Honeywell approval TESTIA Mexico is proud to have received this year a new Honeywell Approval to provide Level III Services to KAT Aerospace Chihuahua, a subsidiary of Altaser UK.
Testia provides inspections for manufacturing and maintenance, worldwide and 24/7. All our inspectors are certified and tests are carried out in compliance with PART 145 and FAR 145 international regulations. For more information, contact us.
Magnetic Testing Inspection for GE Oil & Gas After a few months of negotiation, TESTIA MEXICO finally got the kick off for the Magnetic Particle Inspection Project for GE OIL & Gas. Thanks to this project, our Mexican branch will have a continuous inspection on production batches. Magnetic Testing Inspection carried our for GE Oil & Gas Overseas inspections for our British staff Inspectors from our British team are travelling overseas to carry out inspections for our customers. Two have been flying to Malta to carry out Part 145 activity for Lufthansa Technik. Another two went to Sweden in order to carry out plate inspections for Outokumpu. TESTIA is flexible and our staff can travel worldwide to perform inspections for our customers. Should you have any request, feel free to contact us.
Computed Tomography Inspection of Flying ALM Components In December 2015 already, Testia GmbH analyzed 3D printed spoiler actuator valve blocks developed and produced by Liebherr-Aerospace Lindenberg GmbH. This was the first 3D printed primary flight control hydraulic component designed to fly in an aircraft. After being successfully scanned and analyzed using Computed Tomography, this part was certified to fly on March 30th 2017 for the first time on an Airbus A380 flight test. Complex geometries which can be manufactured using 3D printing require hightech analysis methods to be non-destructively inspected. CT with its opportunity of 3-dimensional defect detection and characterization is the key NDT-method to guarantee quality requirements in complex additively manufactured components. Supporting its other ranges of services, Testia strives to continuously develop its engineering services, which include operations as various as NTM, tear-down, chemical testing, periodic verification, SHM and more. For more information, contact us. Testia GmbH enters the wind energy business with SHM For a few months, Testia GmbH has been offering its services on Structural Health Monitoring to the company Flender AG in Bocholt (Germany). Strain gauges as small as 0,6mm are applied to the planetary gears on one of the biggest wind energy plant of 10MW capacity. Accuracy, patience and experience are needed for this sensor application!
The signals obtained from the gauges will be used to monitor autonomously and continuously the physical condition of the structure while keeping manual intervention at its minimum. Testia's pioneering spirit keeps investing into innovation to develop the future of NDT. Testia offers a unique range of NDT inspection equipment for quick and efficient analysis of aerostructures and components. For more information, contact us. First Smart UE1 sold in America TESTIA Mexico sold the first inspection equipment SMART UE1 in America. We expect and hope to carry on introducing this kind of products in the local market. Find more information about TESTIA's smart NDT tools on our website. Eddy Current testing application on TESTIA's Smart UE1 Reference Standards to the rescue TESTIA UK recently loaned a Reference Standard kit for an AOG work. Our reactivity led to the customer's satisfaction within a very short timeframe. If you are requiring AOG services and/or equipment, please contact us. The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency trusts TESTIA
We are honored to say the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency trusted TESTIA as they recently purchased the Moiréviews through our Japanese distributor Chugai Technos. Testia at the Aerospace Meetings Queretaro From February 20th to 22nd, TESTIA Mexico participated in the First Edition of the Aerospace Meetings Queretaro, which is an International Business Exhibition for the Aerospace industry. Over 250 companies from 15 countries were involved to this event. We were happy to represent Testia and to meet new key contacts! TESTIA Mexico representatives on our booth at the show
ENSIA at the NADCAP Meeting ENSIA attended the NADCAP Meeting which was held in Madrid last week, from the 19 th to the 22nd of february. Testia at the 8th Conference on Industrial Computed Tomography ict 2018 - Wels, Austria On the 7 Th of February 2018, Testia GmbH participated in the 8 th conference on Industrial Computed Tomography (ict2018) in Wels/Austria. The conference gathered CT experts from the entire world. On this occasion, Denis Kiefel presented the work of the Testia CT-group on Computed Tomography inspection of Additive Manufactured (AM) components in aeronautic industry. The presented work is focused on pore detection in 3D printed titanium components using CT. In this study a Probability of Detection (PoD) analysis was performed in order to determine the reliability of manual and automated evaluation on AM-components.
