Recreational Uses Defined Regional Official Plan (1998) Glossary Definition: Recreation: leisure-time activity undertaken away from home. Active recreation is characterized by the need for special facilities, such as golf courses, tennis courts and recreation theme parks, which usually require large scale modification of the land surface, often accompanied by the introduction of buildings and structures.
