Pace Pulse Program Pulse is a form of rapid transit that offers fast and frequent bus service with limited station stops and advanced technology. Pulse Harlem will eventually link Pace s first Pulse corridors in north, west, and south suburbs. 8

Project Focus: Research and Analyze Current Conditions Existing Conditions Report with all current relevant data including existing transit options, transportation characteristics, a complete sidewalk inventory and streetscape characteristics. Ribbon cutting ceremony 9

Project Focus: Market Analysis and Economic Development Opportunities Complete Market Analysis Report with Economic Development Opportunities. This report will contain a land use and zoning analysis, a transportation demand and mode analysis, and development strategies for the corridor. Rendering of a potential Harlem Pulse station 10

Project Outcome: Transportation Improvement and Implementation Plan Improvement Plan for the Harlem Avenue corridor that includes recommendations to improve transit, bicycle and pedestrian connections. Map of study corridor 11

South Harlem Avenue Corridor Study In 2011, the Southwest Conference of Mayors conducted a transportation and economic development study of Harlem Avenue from 63 rd Street south to I-80. The plan s vision is to create a vibrant corridor with a mix of thriving uses that works for all users. Our study will build upon the findings from South Harlem and will work with the Southwest Conference as they continue to implement the recommendations. Map of South Harlem Avenue Corridor Study 12

Public Involvement Plan Highlights 15

Public Involvement The Public Involvement Plan provides the public and stakeholders with opportunities to offer their experience and expertise that will improve the overall plan. 1) Steering Committee 2) Stakeholder and transit agency interviews 3) Public Meetings Pulse Dempster public meeting 16

Steering Committee Composed of representatives from local municipalities, transit agencies, regional government entities and civic organizations. Committee will help assess technical elements, forge community outreach strategies, shape proposed improvements, and ensure that the project outcome is reflective of community needs. Steering Committee will meet a total of 5 times. 17

Stakeholder Interviews Representatives from: local municipalities, business groups, educational institutions, etc. Interviews will provide the project team with insight and specific details along the corridor Who are your business and civic leaders????????? 18

Public Meetings The public meetings will gather information about the corridor from individuals who live, work and travel in it. Public meetings that will take place in two phases Phase I (Spring of 2018) Introduce the project and collect input on the challenges and opportunities along the corridor Phase II (Fall of 2018) Solicit feedback on study analysis and recommendations Pace North Shore public meeting 19
