Consumer Success Where to plant The biggest key to success with Easy Elegance is planting them in a location that gets 6-8 hours of sun per day. More light is fine, but fewer hours of sunlight means less flowers. Own root All Easy Elegance roses are grown naturally on their own root system. Compared to budded or grafted roses, own root roses are more cold tolerant. If an unusually harsh winter causes the canes to be injured or die back, Easy Elegance roses push out new growth from the crown and are true to name. Budded Root Own Root Pruning Young plants under three years old don t normally need to be pruned. Older plants benefit from pruning in early spring. Prune Easy Elegance about the time forsythia push out their bright yellow flowers. Cut dead canes back to live tissue to revitalize the plant. Their big underground root system will quickly push out new growth and you ll have robust beautiful plants blooming in June. Fertilizing Easy Elegance roses are easy-care shrubs, but like any plant do better with the proper nutrition. This is especially true if you have sandy soil which doesn t retain nutrients, or soil that is low in organic matter. One application of fertilizer per season, as the buds appear in spring, is usually enough. 14
