Central Embarcadero Proposals Summary Statements June 12, 20 Seaport, by Protea Waterfront Development (PWD), is viewed as a legacy project by three San Diegans driven by the belief that great design can support community. a vibrant, new destination for residents and visitors alike. The hallmark of Seaport is the seamless blending of its multi-faceted parks with lifelong learning, marine research, hospitality, exercise, attractions, social converge our famous beach culture with the urban realm. The thoughtfully planned components include expanded park and public space, a curated shopping and dining initiative and a public market that will bring new vitality to the waterfront and downtown 365 days a year. There will also be a hospitality core boasting a public living room with multiple new and fresh hotel concepts accessible to all travelers. Education is a major component with a marine-focused charter school and continuing lifelong education initiatives. Smithsonian Media is an important collaborator who will be taking their world renowned exhibits outside museum walls (ideal in San Diego s climate) with an immersive Augmented and Virtual Reality experience that will educate, entertain and drive tourism. Essential to San Diego s health-and-wellness ethos, Seaport will feature water sports, an outdoor gym, beach volleyball as well as an Olympic-size, fresh-water lap pool at the G Street Mole. And of course there will also be the simple pleasures of just sitting on one of our beaches, exploring our tide pools or strolling along the expanded esplanade. Central Embarcadero Proposals Summary Statements June 12, 20 This plan is all about public access by creating streets that end at the waterfront, vistas to the water, paths leading to the water, boat docks, ferries, light rail connections and city shuttle bus stops all designed to increases frontage and activity along the bayfront. The public realm consists of 32 acres of open space with parkland, a baywalk as public art, an entertainment harbor, retail courtyards and public roof gardens to maximize public engagement with the water. This is supported by a boutique hotel, a performance hall, shops and restaurants to create a daytime, nighttime and weekend attraction. Central Embarcadero Proposals Summary Statements June 12, 20 Ripley Entertainment Inc. is excited to present its proposal for development of an aquarium on 4.26 acres enhances the iconic view corridors of the site through its unique architectural design. The proposal also includes maximizing the use of existing public spaces to enhance the overall draw to the waterfront from both the residential and visitor markets. These open public spaces along with the proposed entrance of the the public s enjoyment of the waterfront. Additionally, hundreds of local jobs will be created during the construction and operation of the aquarium. With the addition of the aforementioned aquarium, Ripley s will establish a world class entertainment attraction that will serve as a stronger catalyst to both the residential and visitor markets to drive visitation to the San Diego waterfront. Ripley s aquariums serve as host to numerous child and school group events and have educated hundreds of thousands of school children.
