TM Dock-Mate Wash-Down & Fill Systems MODELS DM-1000, DM-1001, DM-1002, DM1004 OWNERS AND OPERATIONS MANUAL YACHT-MATE PRODUCTS, Ltd. FT. LAUDERDALE, FL 954-527-0112 1 DMOM: 0106 rev

YACHT-MATE PRODUCTS WELCOMES YOU..TO OWNERSHIP OF ONE OF OUR ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY PRODUCTS. A short message for you: You have purchased a DOCK-MATE System, and we congratulate you on making a sound choice towards preserving the finishes on your vessel. There are several similar systems available to boat-owners, and we understand your choice was made with difficulty. We have learned through the years, that regardless of knowledge and advancing technologies, the end user s plight begins not with the problems that needs to be overcome, but with the confusion offered by those who propose solutions. We are committed to stand behind the products that you will benefit from having. It is our ultimate goal to assure you that we will market products and services with confidence and integrity, as that is what will make us all successful with the endeavors we under- take. Sandy Hoekstra Handrahan Dock Mate is primarily a wash-down system designed to assist you and your crew with the day to day maintenance of the finishes above deck on your vessel. In addition, our system will significantly improve the quality of all the waters you use to fill your fresh-water tanks through supplies available to you at dockside, regardless of the location of the port of call.!attention! We would like you to be aware of the fact that mere processing through our unit, and for that matter, through any other unit of this type, does not guarantee the microbiological integrity of the water on board your vessel. We have other systems to insure safe Drinking Water. This system is designed to improve the aesthetic quality of the water you use for primarily wash-down. A wash-down system is designed to reduce levels of Calcium and Magnesium (CaCo3) which combine to form Total Hardness. Hardness is the primary precipitant of the dissolving of the Earth s surface by water. Although water is the Universal Solvent, hardness is that dissolution that produces scaling of pipes, valves, corrosion to plumbing and streaks and mars finishes. This hardness is reduced greatly by the Dock-Mate systems to preserve the quality of the finish you purchased, when you acquired your vessel. A properly designed system will perform not just the first few times of use, but, with proper care, year after year. These units exists to help you preserve your investment. You will come to find that with every washing of your boat, the longevity of that new 2 look is standard to your operations and routine maintenance.

FIXED MOUNTING INSTRUCTIONS PLEASE READ CAREFULLY Larger vessels often mount the Dock-Mate unit on board and do not intend the system to be used as a portable dock mounted system. We recommend that if installation fittings are changed, fittings and hoses included with your system be kept in order to allow versatility in future uses of the system. Fittings required for a fixed installation will vary from vessel to vessel, depending on the space available in Engine Rooms, Lazarette, Lockers, etc. Please carefully locate the installation area to optimize the designed uses of this system. NOTE OUR SALES DEPARTMENT IS AVAILABLE TO CONSULT WITH YOU TO AS- SURE THE SYSTEM IS PROPERLY LOCATED, CONNECTED, AND OF COURSE MOUNTED AND FITTED FOR SAFE AND PROPER USAGE. Locate Mounting area that allows for vertical operation of system. It is recommended that for on board installations, plumbing the unit in place be done with rigid piping or hose connections. Remove outlet hose fittings and Pre- Filter inlet fittings and replace with rigid piping proper fittings. Secure the Dock-Mate system to Bulkhead with a cylinder bracket sized for an 10 Diameter cylinder. Brackets are typically made of aluminum or steel for mounting & securing system to bulkhead. (Typical 2-3 wide band horseshoe shaped with flat ends to secure to bulkhead or flat wall, and a small piece of starboard to keep bottom from moving) There are two tubing connections that require use of factory supplied tubing materials. First the 1/2 Drain Line is a non-pressurized poly tube that carries regeneration/ recharge waters to waste. The discharge from this line will contain Chlorides and the Total Hardness Minerals removed by the system, as well as feed water. This discharge may be directed to either a existing overboard drain or one will need to be installed thru the hull. Note: If possible, drain line may be interconnected with proper fittings to the concentrate overboard discharge line from typical watermakers. SEE ATTACHED TYPICAL INSTALLATION DRAWINGS & REQUIREMENTS! WARNING: Yacht-Mate Products, Inc. will not be held liable for piping leaks when units are plumbed on board any vessel. Installer assumes all responsibilities for any piping leaks or compartment flooding. 5

Run a line from Dockside Water Pressure Connection to Pre-Filter and Dockside-Mate System after Pressure Regulator. The regulator should be set to provide system with a minimum of 30 psi. Ideal pressure operating range is 30 psi-60 psi. Install a shut-off valve before inlet to system pre-filter for use during recharging at a point accessible to operator. Install a shut-off valve on outlet service line of system for fresh water tank fill and needed for recharge process. Note open valve to fill tank, close valve to recharge system thus allows the system to build up pressure and draw the brine in and send the waste water to drain. (optional). Install 2 nd shut-off valve and check valve on line to plumbing loop if using on dock pressure. Connect ½ Drain Tube to a through the hull existing drain port. Recharge Tank may be stored in a locker or secured in place at installation location for use during recharging. Note: Watermaker Tank Fill Line may be used to run Dock-Mate Service Water to tank if a new dedicated line cannot be accessed. Install a check on the lines to prevent back pressure on membranes and to prevent water backing up in softener NOTICE: INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS VARY FROM VESSEL TO VESSEL. ! IMPORTANT NOTE THE RECHARGE VALVE ASSEMBLY AND CONNECTIONS FOR YOUR UNIT ARE REMOVED FOR THE PREVENTION OF SHIPPING DAMAGE!!!! SEE FIGURE 11-1 BELOW FOR INSTUCTIONS ON THE RECHARGE VALVE ASSEMBLY. INLET AND OUTLET CONNECTIONS ARE MADE BY SIMPLY THREADING THE CONNECTION ONTO THE VALVE WITH A SINGLE GASKET BETWEEN THE BRASS AND VALVE. THIS CONNECTION SHOULD BE HAND TIGHTENING TO PREVENT LEAKS. THE METER CONNECTION WILL ALWAYS GO ON THE OUTLET SIDE OF THE VALVE! RECHARGE VALVE ASSEMBLY: (SEE FIGURE 11-1) ON MODELS AFTER DECEMBER 1, 2000, THERE IS A NEW INTERNAL CHECK DESIGN, AND RECHARGE BALL VALVE ON THE SYSTEM WITH RETAINER CLIP IN PLACE. WARNING: A CHECK BALL IS LOCATED BEHIND THE ELBOW ADAPTER. IF CLIP IS REMOVED, DO NOT LOSE INTERNAL CHECK BALL, IF REMOVED, REPLACE BALL. ONCE ELBOW FITTING SNAPS INTO PLACE, REPLACE LOCKING PIN. LOCKING CLIP INTERNAL CHECK BALL DO NOT LOSE RECHARGE BALL VALVE ASSEMBLY WATER OUTLET WATER INLET FIGURE 11-1 SECURING YOUR DOCK-MATE: Most Dock-Mate Systems have been installed on board and numerous systems are used on the dock. On board, systems must be secured with base plates and heavy duty strapping in order to ride securely in rough seas. When intended use is on the dock, a strap to prevent possible knocking the system into the water by pulling on hose is recommended. One may consider using a strapping system that will lock the unit to your piling to prevent theft. 9

GENERAL OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS USE SUPPLIED HOSE OR PLUMB YOUR DOCK-MATE SYSTEM EITHER ON THE DOCK OR ON BOARD YOUR VESSEL TO THE AVAILABLE WATER SUPPLY ACCORDING TO SPECIFICATIONS AND CODES GOVERNING INSTALLATIONS FOR POTABLE WATER SYSTEMS. Dock-Mate Recharge & Backwashing Pre-Filter NOTE INLET IS ON THE RIGHT AND OUTLET AFTER METER CHECKING/REPLACING PRE-FILTERS 1) Ensure the water to the pre-filter is bypassed or shut off! 2) Press the red button on the top of the filter housing to relieve any pressure on the housing 3) Using the wrench provided with the system, unscrew housing (NOTE: although pressure is relived from the housing, housing will still contain water. Use great care to prevent accidental spillage particularly when working in areas that may have electrical hazards) 1) Rinse off or replace filter with a 5 Micron sediment filter as necessary. 2) Tighten housing and turn water on slowly. Check for leaks RECHARGING DOCK MATE SOFTENER A 26% Saturated Brine Solution is required for proper recharging and regeneration of the unit. Use a Water Hardness test kit to determine feed and treated water hardness. When total number of gallons from the capacity chart is reached or treated water shows levels of hardness, unit must be re- charged. 1) Prepare brine solution dissolve salt in water typically 2 hours rock salt will dissolve faster pellets take longer but saturates enough in the 2 hours use left over for next charge WE RECOMMEND PELLET SALT VS. ROCK IT IS A MUCH CLEANER SALT - BOTH WORK MODEL DM-1000 ; USE 10 LBS OF SALT MODEL DM-1004: USE 7LBS OF SALT MODEL DM1001/1002 ; USE 5 LBS OF SALT AND FILL WITH WATER (approximately to the top of the white 4 brine well located in the brine tank) NOTE: SATURATE SALT FOR A MIMINUM OF 1-2 HOURS LONGER IF USING COLD WATER UNDER 70 DEGREES. 2) Attach 3/8 line to quick connect fitting on brine tank and other end to brine (QC) fitting on the valve & turn blue handle to open position. NOTE: MAKE SURE YOU PUSH LINE IN SNUG TO QC FITTINGS OR IT WILL SUCK AIR (CHECK SUCTION AT BALL VALVE BEFORE INSERTING LINE) 3) Make sure outlet side of unit is closed, so water goes to drain only and not into tank or boat (PORTABLE UNITS HOSE IS ATTACHED WITH A NOZZLE AT THE END AND NOT ATTACHED TO THE VESSEL) 4) Turn water on ALL THE WAY 100% PRESSURE 5) Turn timer on system to 2 hours, THE FIRST 15-20 MIN BRINE IS DRAWN INTO SYSTEM BRINING RESIN, THEN GOES INTO FAST AND SLOW RINSE CYCLES THEN SHUTS OFF 6) When complete, turn water off, close ball valve & disconnect brine line from system if applicable. System is now ready to soften and treat water once again. 7) Empty & stow away brine tank for next use 8) Reset your digital meter back to 0 by pressing and holding total 1 TEST KIT INSTRUCTIONS If you have the new hardness test kit in a blue box, simply follow directions on or in box. TROUBLE SHOOTING: BRINE NOT DRAWING CHECK SUCTION AT BALL VALVE THEN CHECK CONNECTION TO BRINE TANK LINE HAS TO SEAT OVER O-RING. TOTAL WATER MANAGEMENT PROVIDES FRESH ONBOARD WATER Water is key for the comfort of the owners and crew while onboard. The Total Water Management program from Yacht-Mate Products processes all dockside water, maintains the highest quality of stored fresh- water, and provides high purity water for drinking, cooking, ice production and personal use. Fresh laundry, softer, more manageable hair, clean fixtures, a spotless vessel wash-down and the elimina- tion of hard water stains and spots are among the benefits of the Dock-Mate Water Softener. But because the water onboard is only as fresh as the storage tank, the second element of the Total Quality Water Management Program is the Water-Mate (UV) ultra violet sterilization to kill any organisms coming from the storage tank to the plumbing system, as well as any points of use where bacteria is of concern. This supplies the entire vessel biologically safe water, which brings us to drinking water. The Galley-Mate Reverse Osmosis System provides boaters with up to 65 gpd of high-purity drinking water for cooking, beverages and ice production. The compact system can be installed under the galley sink or in the engine room. Requiring no electricity, the Galley-Mate Reverse Osmosis System runs on the pressure from onboard pumps. Additional tanks and faucets can be added for use on bridge, cock pit areas aft ice ma- chines. The filters are easy to change, with replacement needed every 6 months to 1 year. Because you now have bottled quality water on tap you can easily cut 50% of your storage of bottled water at less cost. Yacht-Mate Products has a full line of environmental products for the marine industry. In addition, the company offers odor control systems for bilges, waste tanks and living areas, and a variety of other high-quality products. Contact Yacht-Mate Products, Inc. Showroom location - Ft.
