March 2018 Contemporary Parisian hotel commissions Brintons to design bespoke carpets for renovation Paris Marriott Charles de Gaulle Airport Hotel, part of leading global hospitality company Marriott International, commissioned expert carpet manufacturer Brintons to design bespoke carpets for its recent renovation. Brintons designed approximately 1800sqm of bespoke carpets for the hotel, taking inspiration from the existing contemporary and minimalist interiors. Brintons used the hotels grid wood panelling, colour palettes and textures as stimulus for the bespoke designs. Key facts at a glance: Project: Paris Marriott Charles de Gaulle Airport Hotel Renovation start and completion dates: April 2016 - July 2016 Brintons created bespoke axminster carpet for a variety of different areas in the hotel, including the ballroom, meeting rooms, corridors and prefunction room. This project was a large-scale renovation with a short lead time. To ensure the project met the required deadline, there was close collaboration between Brintons, multi-disciplinary design company Virserius Studio and general construction company, Vöcker Hospitality.

Design consultant Kerstin Mahlmann and senior creative designer Jay Ralley-Jones led the project at Brintons. Project details: A contemporary hotel offering convenience to business and leisure travellers, located in close proximity to Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport. Brintons designed approximately 1800 sqm of bespoke axminster carpet for the hotel renovation. Brintons created three bespoke designs for the carpets, with a graphic and contemporary feel; each unique pattern was drawn line by line by the Brintons designers to complement each space in the hotel. The design inspiration for the grid pattern is taken from the existing wood panelling that frames the stage in the prefunction room and decorates the walls of the corridors in the hotel. The Brintons carpet colour scheme is grey and orange throughout, remaining in line with the hotels original signature colours. The renovation has been recognised by: The European Hospitality Design Awards, acknowledged as one of the year s best in the Opening Renovation or Conversion category 2017 IDA International Design Excellence Awards, awarded a Bronze Award 2017 AHEAD Europe Awards, acknowledged as a shortlisted project Comments from the team: Chris Erl, project manager at Vöcker Hospitality and who managed the renovation comments: One of the big purchase items for this project was the Brintons carpets. This large-scale renovation needed the extensive knowledge of all three parties in the redesign: Brintons, Viserius Design and our team at Vöcker Hospitality. The designers from Viserius Design developed the carpet together with Kerstin Mahlmann from Brintons. Vöcker Hospitality then took care to fit in the carpet to the agreed design. Working with the knowledgeable Brintons team and their intricate eye for detail, made this large-scale project manageable. The complete renovation was developed in 7 weeks and due to meeting bookings of the space, there was no excuse for a delay. With a great success and with several design awards we have finished this area in the desired designs, in the agreed 7 weeks time frame, and on budget. Brintons design consultant, Kerstin Mahlmann comments: Brintons carpet designs are a significant element to the hotels renovation. The design details in the carpets add a lot of value to the overall feel of the finished spaces. The detailing involved, like the fading effects from dark to light, the subtle grey tones employed and the dotted orange elements, together offer a graphic statement to the contemporary interiors of the hotel. The contrasting colour scheme of elegant greys and vibrant orange creates a fresh feel.
