When ironing with the steam faciity at the 2 dot setting, the steam output shoud be set at the ower end of the steam range (see Variabe steam section). Texties and cothes are supposed to carry ironing instructions. If they don t, you shoud foow the Temperature guide on page 3, but be sure to test the temperature by ironing the hem of the garment or simiar discreet area first. If you turn the contro dia down from a hot setting to a cooer setting, wait unti the iron temperature has stabiised before you continue ironing. FILLING 1 Make sure that the iron is not pugged in and then set the variabe steam contro to the 0 position before fiing the iron with water. 2 Open the fi cap and pour water through the fiing hoe into the water tank, using the beaker provided (certain modes ony) or a measuring jug. 400m of water fis the tank A. After fiing, repace the fi cap. A IN HARD WATER AREAS, THE USE OF DISTILLED OR DEMINERALISED WATER IS RECOMMENDED. TEMPERATURE CONTROL Pug in the iron and switch on. Set the temperature contro dia B to the temperature required (see Temperature Guide on page 3). Begin with coo fabrics and work up to higher settings. An iron heats up quicker than it coos down so you wi save time and energy. B Your iron is fitted with a temperature indicator ight which wi switch on and off whist you are ironing. FEATURES OF YOUR IRON Temperature indicator ight The indicator ight under the contro knob shows that the iron is warming up. When the required temperature is reached, the ight wi go out and wi cyce on-off during operation. Dry ironing You can use your iron as a dry iron ony. Make sure the variabe steam contro is set to the 0 symbo. Any temperature setting may be used when dry ironing, depending on the garment. You do not need water in the tank when dry ironing. However, if you wish to use the spray feature, there must be water in the tank (see Fiing section). Never use battery topping up fuid or water containing any substances ike starch, sugar, fragrant additives or defrosted water from a refrigerator. 3 Aways pour out the remaining water after use. WARNING: When fiing your iron with tap water, aways use a fiing beaker or measuring jug. Do not use steam boost at temperatures beow the steam range shown on the contro. Press the water spray button and aim the spray of water at stubborn creases. You can do this whist dry ironing, providing there is water in the tank. When using the water spray, it may be necessary to push the button a few times to get the spray pump primed. Variabe steam Fi the iron with water as described in Fiing A, and insert the pug into the eectrica socket. NOTE: For optimum steam quaity, do not operate the steam boost more than three times in succession. Vertica steam Hod the iron in a vertica position between 1cm and 2cm away from the item F. Press the steam boost button, this wi create vertica steam. This feature is especiay usefu for removing creases from hanging cothes, curtains, wa hangings, etc. F The steam output can be varied from ow to high by siding the variabe steam contro D. D E ower steam 2 dot When using the iron at the bottom of the temperature range, the sider switch shoud be adjusted to the owest setting. The steam faciity shoud ony be used on garments which are suitabe for ironing at 2 and 3 dot settings. Steam boost E higher steam 3 dot NOTE: For optimum steam quaity, do not operate the steam boost more than three times in succession. No drip system (certain modes ony) Your iron is fitted with a no drip system which is designed to prevent water escaping from the soepate when the iron is too cod. During use, the no drip system may emit a oud cick, particuary during heat-up or whist cooing down. This is perfecty norma and indicates that the system is functioning correcty. RN40697MUK Rev4_Instruction Book 08/12/2011 10:36 Page 6 MAINTENANCE To cean a coated soepate In the unikey event of any man-made fibre fusing to the soepate, set the iron at the 3 dot position and pass it over a cean piece of cotton which wi draw the deposit off the surface. Do not use scouring powder or soution as this coud cause damage to the coating. To cean the exterior Aow the iron to coo and wipe over with a damp coth and mid detergent, then wipe with a dry coth. Emptying and storing When you have finished ironing, unpug your iron. Ensure that the variabe steam contro is set at the 0 position, ift up the fi cap and empty any remaining water out of the fiing hoe G. Chidren Cose supervision is necessary when any appiance is used near chidren. Chidren do not understand the dangers associated with operating eectrica appiances. Persona safety WARNING: The soepate of the iron can become extremey hot and may cause burns if touched. WARNING: Burns can occur from touching hot meta parts, hot water or steam. Use caution when you turn a steam iron upside down, there may be hot water in the water tank. WARNING: To protect against the risk of eectric shock, do not put the appiance in water or in any other iquid. Do not use the vertica steam feature on cothes that are being worn. Do not eave the iron unattended whist pugged in or on an ironing board. Never aow the mains ead to over hang the work surface. The socket shoud aways be off before pugging or unpugging from the socket. Never yank the cord to disconnect from the socket, instead, grasp the pug and pu to disconnect. Do not aow the cord to touch hot surfaces. Let the iron coo competey before putting away. Loop the cord oosey around the iron before storing. The iron must not be eft unattended whie it is connected to the suppy mains. Other safety considerations Use the iron ony for its intended use. Aways disconnect the iron from the eectrica socket when fiing with water or emptying, and when not in use. If the suppy cord or grommet is damaged, it must be repaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or simiary quaified person(s) in order to avoid a hazard. Do not operate the iron with a damaged cord or grommet, or if the iron has been dropped or damaged and if there are visibe signs of damage, or if it is eaking. Specia instructions If your iron does not work, check the foowing points: Has the temperature contro been set to the required temperature? Is the pug in its socket? Is the pug itsef or the socket fauty? (Check by pugging in another appiance). WARNING: When not in use, your iron shoud never be paced fat and eft on an ironing board. To prevent damage to the textie being ironed, foow the temperature guide carefuy. (Test the inside of the hem of the garment). When ironing is compete, remove the pug from the socket, empty any remaining water from the tank, and aow to coo before storage. If you drop or severey knock your iron, this coud cause interna damage even if the outside appears aright. Have it checked by a quaified eectrician. It is recommended that you use up one beaker of water by operating your iron s steam and steam boost functions before ironing any cothes as some dripping may occur whie your iron s steam system is activated. ELECTRICAL REQUIREMENTS Check that the votage on the rating pate of your appiance corresponds with your house eectricity suppy which must be A.C. (Aternating Current). If the socket outets in your home are not suitabe for the pug suppied with this appiance, the pug shoud be removed and the appropriate one fitted.
