STORM WATER MANAGEMENT STUDY Johnson County Park and Recreation District Verhaeghe Park Prepared By: The Clark Enersen Partners 1251 NW Briarcliff Parkway, Suite 400 Kansas City, MO 64116 October, 2017

Location This drainage study has been prepared for the Johnson County Park and Recreation District Verhaeghe Park project. The project is located south of the future intersection of 167 th and Flint in Overland Park, KS. Pre-Development Site Description The pre-development conditions include an open natural grass field. The south 1/4 of the site drains towards the south into Coffee Creek. The north 3/4 of the site drains towards the east into Coffee Creek via a 24 concrete reinforced pipe culvert (Existing Pipe 1). The northern 2/3 of the site is located within the 100-year flood plain (Zone AE) of Coffee Creek. The southern 1/3 of the site is located within the floodway of Coffee Creek. See Exhibit A for plans of the existing site conditions (note: plans included in report are not to scale shown). Post Development Site Description The post development site includes a paved parking lot, park shelter, playground, maintained turf areas and preserved open natural grass areas. The existing drainage patterns have been preserved as best as possible. Post Development Storm Water Management Design Chapter 15.10.400, paragraph A states detention is not required on the site when such flooding occurs within a Special Flood Hazard Area, as defined in 18.360 and the watershed is greater than 5,000 acres. The subject site is in a Special Flood Hazard Area (it s located in a Zone AE) and the watershed is greater than 5,000 acres (Coffee Creek upstream of the site drains a watershed area of +/-7,500 acres). Therefore, no detention has been provided on the site. Existing Pipe 1, Native Vegetated Swale 1, Swale 2 and Swale 3 have been designed to carry runoff from the 10 year 24-hour storm. The post storm water system has also been designed to meet MARC storm water quality requirements. This is accomplished through Native Vegetated Swale 1 and preserved/ established natural areas. See Sheet Exhibits B, C and D for plans and storm water calculations of the proposed conditions. (note: plans included in report are not to scale shown).
