When cleaning liquid spillages do not forget to clean up the absorbent materials straight away. Remember it is just as easy to slip on the absorbent material as it is on the original spillage. They must inspect the work area and task that they are about to perform, in order to ensure that the risks are recognised and mitigated. Ladder to be given an identification number and entered into a register. Ladder to be stored correctly and locked with a padlock and chain to be issued by an authorised person. Authorised person to check whether ladder requested is suitable for task. Ladder must be inspected on purchase, before each use, after any mishap, drop or impact, and annually. Manual Handling assessments available. Low frequency for handling heavy items. Mechanical assistance available e.g. trolleys for welding equipment. Help available from other employees if required.
