1 the history The Park was originally created as a 19th Century 'Gentlemen s Residence' by William Vincent between 1849 and the early 1850 s, and was developed in phases over the next 30 years. The Park is a good example of how the Victorians emulated the great English landscape park tradition of the 18th Century. The scheme is exotic and reflects the huge range of plants and trees that were flooding into the country from all over the British Empire and beyond at that time. Many specimens of exotic pines and ornamental rhododendrons remain. Lily Hill Park today is an important meeting place for local people. It is a place for quiet, informal recreation, walking the dog and enjoying nature. In July 2001 the Heritage Lottery Fund awarded Bracknell Forest Borough Council a grant towards developing a detailed design and restoration plan for the park. Specialist consultants and a full-time Project Officer developed a detailed design. This resulted in an award of a further 964,000, restoring the site to its former glory. The Lily Hill Park Restoration Project is now complete. The latest phase of this project has restored the Western Section of the Park with Victorian and 1930 s features including a Ha-Ha sunken boundary, landscaped with flowers and shrubs, a walkway, new oak trees and an extension of the footpath network. the future Environmental features for the premises: As part of the comprehensive refurbishment of the premises, key environmental features have been incorporated into the design to ensure that the building stands up to current thinking on environmental matters and energy efficiency, and to ensure that the property is sympathetic to its Green surroundings. Carpets are produced by the only Carbon Negative manufacturer in the industry. The carpet manufacturer was the first in its field to achieve BRE Environmental Certification. Carpet tiles themselves utilize environmentally friendly, chemical free and bonding agent free carpet fixative. New energy efficient, low CFC heating and cooling mechanical systems. Installation of new fully LG7 energy efficient lighting. This can improve well being and productivity of building users. Automatic water saving taps and water saving cisterns. Recycling of existing raised access floors. Improved insulation of existing building fabric. Design utilizes natural daylight, borrowed from existing atrium to light new atrium / lobby and provide some natural daylight to new extended office space. Scheme features the removal on non indigenous planting and the protection of rare indigenous plants within the grounds of the house. Sustainable urban drainage for new external paving to prevent excess run off to existing drain system.
