Ammonia detection Ammonia is a highly hazardous toxic and corrosive chemical, used as a refrigerant (R717) for very low temperatures. EU Standard EN378:2008 requires that all plants with a charge over 50 kg NH 3 must have a gas detection system installed. Ammonia emissions from animal waste in intensive livestock and poultry farms may affect animal health and productivity. Carbon Monoxide detection Carbon monoxide (CO) is a highly toxic, colorless and odorless gas. Monitoring is required in places where CO may be formed from incomplete combustion. CO is very close to the same density as air, so the gas tends to spread evenly in the room. Carbon monoxide detectors should be mounted in the breathing zone at a height ~1,5 m from the floor in proximity to potential leak sources. Carbon Dioxide detection Carbon dioxide (CO 2 ) level is a primary indicator of indoor air quality. Monitoring of CO 2 is required for demand controlled ventilation in occupied places, to prevent oxygen depletion by CO2 leaks in confined rooms, and to ensure optimal atmosphere for growth of plants and mushrooms. CO 2 is slightly heavier air, but the gas tends to spread evenly in the room. Carbon dioxide detectors should be mounted in the breathing zone at a height ~1,5 m from the floor.
