PANIC EXIT HARDWARE DX-500 Serie
Explanation of European standards The standards EN 1125 and EN 179 were created at the European level with the acceptance and cooperation of the Dutch standards committee. The central objective is to give a safe and eective escape route through a doorway. These standards state that doors equipped with panic or emergency exit devices must be able to be opened with a single action. The standards also determine the requirements for panic devices in conjunction with push and pull tests, corrosion resistance and durability tests. Panic exit: standard EN 1125 This standard describes the minimum requirements with regard to escape route doors in public buildings. Typical applications include: bars, libraries, theatres, shops, schools, hospitals cinemas, etc. Main requirements: The escape route door must be fitted with a horizontal crossbar or touchbar that covers at least 60% of the door s width. The required opening pressure may not be higher than 8 kg. The weight of the door may not exceed 200 kg. The height of the door may not exceed 2500 mm. The width of the door may not exceed 1300 mm. IMPORTANT The crossbar must never project past the edge of the door. This forms an obstacle for people trying to escape or trying to help, as clothing or fire equipment may become snagged on them. Emergency exit: standard EN 179 This standard describes the minimum requirements for emergency doors in buildings with limited access. This can include apartment buildings, oices, storage spaces or boiler rooms. Panic devices according to this standard are not suitable for application in areas that are freely accessible to the public. These devices are intended only for areas where people already have prior knowledge of its operation and know the escape route. Main requirements: The door may be fitted with a lever handle or a push pad The required opening pressure may not be higher than 8 kg. The weight of the door may not exceed 200 kg. The height of the door may not exceed 2500 mm. The width of the door may not exceed 1300 mm. IMPORTANT When in doubt we recommend that you contact us.
