POWER SOURCE Please check carefully that the voltage indicated on the rating label corresponds to the voltage of your local area. Plug the AC cord into the standard household electrical socket. BATTERY BACKUP This unit has a backup battery facility, which provides power in the event of a power outage. 1. Remove battery door. 2. Insert 2 new AAA batteries (not included). 3. Replace the battery door. If there is a power failure, the time setting, alarm setting and all the memory settings will not be affected due to the DC power supply by the battery. The LED display will not be illuminated during battery operation. After the AC power resumes, the unit will function normally, according to the settings before the power failure. Note: If you are not going to use the unit for a long period of time, disconnect the AC cord from the AC outlet and remove the batteries. OPERATING THE RADIO 1. Press the ON/OFF button once to turn the radio On. The radio will receive in the FM band with the FM indicator (13) illuminated and the LED will show the frequency. After 5 seconds, the LED will change back to show the time. 2. Press the BAND button (3) repeatedly to choose the radio band. Consequently, the MW indicator (10) or the FM indicator (13) will be on and showing the chosen radio band. 3. Adjust the volume by pressing the VOL+ button (2) (to increase) or by pressing VOL- button (1) (to decrease). Note: Volume range: 00 (mute) to 16 (maximum). 4. Press TUN- button (8) or TUN+ button (7) to tune the desired station by either of the 2 following methods : Manual Tuning : Press either of the 2 tuning buttons, TUN- button (8) or TUN+ (7), repeatedly until the desired station is found. For MW tuning, the radio can tune starting from 522 KHz to 1620 KHz, each press of the TUNbutton (8) can tune down by 9 KHz and each pressing of the TUN+ button (7) can tune up by 9KHz. For FM tuning, the radio can tune starting from 87.5 MHz to 108 MHz, each press of TUN- button (8) can tune down by 0.1 MHz and each pressing of TUN+ button (7) can tune up by 0.1 MHz. Auto Scanning: Press and hold either of the 2 tuning button, TUN- button (8) or TUN+ (7) for more than 1 second and an auto scan will be performed. Scanning will stop automatically when a clear radio signal is found. Repeat the same procedure by using the same button until your desired station is found.

* To stop auto scanning, press any button once. Note: In some areas where the radio signal is not strong enough, the scanning process may not be able to stop automatically at the desired station. In such cases, please use the Manual Tuning method to tune the desired station. This happens mostly when tuning the radio in MW band. 5. To turn off the radio, press and hold the ON/OFF button (3) for more than 1 second or until the radio is turned off and the LED shows the time. Note 1: The current station (either MW or FM) and also the current volume level will be memorized at the time the radio is turned off. When you turn the radio on again, the set station will broadcast with the set volume level. Note 2: For the best FM reception, extend the FM antenna wire to its full length and move the direction to capture the strongest signal. Do not connect the FM antenna wire to an outdoor antenna. Note 3: For AM reception, a ferrite-bar antenna is built-in. Since this antenna is direction oriented, turn the unit to a direction at which the reception signal becomes optimal. PRESETTING YOUR FAVOURITE STATIONS You can preset up to 10 stations in 10 memories for each band. These 10 memories are indicated as preset numbers P01, P02, P03, P04, P05, P06, P07, P08, P09 and P10. 1. During the radio operation mode, follow step 4 in Operating The Radio and tune the radio to the station you wish to preset. 2. Press and hold the SET button (4) for more than 1 second until the last memorized preset number appears and flashes. 3. You can then choose the preset number that you want to memorize this station by pressing MEMORY- (5) to step down the sequence, or by pressing MEMORY+ (6) to step up the sequence. 4. Once the preset number is chosen, it will keep flashing for 5 seconds. Press the SET button (4) once within these 5 seconds, then the tuned station will be memorized in this chosen preset number and the LED will stop flashing and change to show the frequency. 5. If the SET button (4) is not pressed within these 5 seconds, then the LED will jump back to show the frequency and the station will not be stored. 6. If the chosen preset number is already memorized with a station, the above procedure will allow the new tuned station to supersede the original memorized station. 7. In following the above steps, you can memorize your 10 most favorite stations of each band into the 10 preset numbers. TUNING INTO A PRESET STATION 1. When the radio is on (either MW or FM), press the SET button (4) or MEMORY+ (6) once, then the radio will be tuned to a station stored in the preset number next to the last loaded preset number. 2. During the time when the LED is still showing the preset number, choose the preset number by pressing the MEMORY- button (5) to step down the sequence or MEMORY+ button (6) to step up the sequence. 3. After the preset number is chosen, it will be shown for 2 seconds, then the LED will change back to show the radio frequency.

Important Note: Please do NOT hold (press continuously) the SET button (4) in this stage. If this happens by mistake, the unit will enter into the mode of presetting the station, with the preset number flashing. In such cases, do not press any button until the LED stops flashing. Otherwise, your set memory may easily be disturbed. TIME SETTING 1. When the unit is first plugged into the power outlet, 0:00 will appear and flash on the display. 2. Press the HOUR button (8) for hour setting. 3. Press the MINUTE button (7) for minute setting. 4. After setting the correct time, either press the SET button (4) once, or just leave for 5 seconds. The display will stop flashing and the clock will start from the set time. 5. To adjust the current time, first switch off the radio. Press and hold the SET button (4) for 1 second until the display flashes, then follow steps 2, 3 & 4 above to set the new time. DUAL ALARM FUNCTION This product allows the user to set a dual alarm. Each alarm can be set independently by either waking up to the radio, or waking to a buzzer. When one alarm is set waking up to the radio, please remember to select the desired band, station and volume level before turning off the radio. ALARM SETTING 1. To set the alarm time, the radio must be turned off. 2. Press the ALARM 1 button (1) once, the alarm time and either the Alarm 1 Buzzer indicator (11) or the Alarm 1 Radio indicator (12) will flash. 3. Press the HOUR button (8) to set the hour and press the MINUTE button (7) to set the minutes. 4. After setting the desired alarm time, either press the ALARM 1 button (1) again, or simply wait 5 seconds, then the display will return to the current time and the alarm time is confirmed. 5. Now press the ALARM 1 button (1) repeatedly to choose the alarm function status. The status appears in the following sequence with the display shown as: A) Alarm wake to buzzer is set with Alarm 1 Buzzer indicator (11) and Alarm time is flashing on the display. B) Alarm wake to radio is set with Alarm 1 Radio indicator (12) and Alarm time is flashing on the display. C) Alarm off is set with no indicator is on and current time shown on LED. 5 seconds after the desired status is chosen, the display will stop flashing and change to show the current time. Please make sure the indicator for the selected status (buzzer or radio) is ON, or no indicator is on in case you choose to turn off the alarm. 6. When you set the Alarm 2 time, follow the above steps 2 to 5 by using the ALARM 2 button (2) instead of ALARM 1 button (1). Subsequently, the wake to buzzer status of alarm time 2 will be indicated by Alarm 2 Buzzer indicator (14). The wake to radio status of alarm time 2 will be indicated by Alarm 2 Radio indicator (15). The buzzer sound of Alarm 1 is a different tone to the buzzer sound of Alarm 2, so it is easy for the user to distinguish.

7. When the Alarm is turned on, either : a) Press the ON/OFF button (3) or Alarm 1 button (1) once to switch off the alarm 1. b) Press the ON/OFF button (3) or Alarm 2 button (2) once to switch off the alarm 2. c) The alarm indicator is still on, meaning the alarm function is still activated and turned on again after 24 hours. d) Press the SNOOZE button (9) - the alarm sound will stop temporarily and will sound again after 9 minutes [See SNOOZE SETTING below]. e) If a button isn t pressed after the alarm sounds, the alarm will keep sounding for 1 hour after the alarm time. After 1 hour, then alarm will turn off. f) To disable the alarm setting, press the ALARM 1 button (1) or ALARM 2 button (2) until their indicators (radio or buzzer) disappear on the display. Handy Hints: The ALARM 1 (or 2) indicator flashes on the display when the alarm sounds. If a later alarm starts to sound when the earlier alarm still sounds, the later alarm takes priority. If a later alarm sounds when the earlier alarm is in SNOOZE mode, then the later alarm takes priority and will cancel the SNOOZE function of the earlier alarm. If the same time is set for both alarms (ALARM 1 or 2) then ALARM 2 takes priority. SNOOZE SETTING Once the alarm is activated, the snooze function can be used to stop the alarm temporary for 9 minutes. After 9 minutes the alarm will sound again. 1) Once the alarm (either Alarm 1 or Alarm 2) sounds, press the SNOOZE button (9). The buzzer or radio alarm will stop and will sound again in 9 minutes. The SNOOZE function can be used for up to 1 hour from the set alarm time. 2) During the time the SNOOZE function is activated, the alarm indicator will flash. 3) To switch off the SNOOZE function, press ON/OFF button (3). You can then see the alarm indicator stop flashing, and the alarm will not sound again after the snooze period. SETTING THE SLEEP TIMER The sleep function allows the radio to play in blocks of 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, or 90 minutes before turning off automatically. The sleep timer allows you to fall asleep listening the radio, as it turns off automatically. 1) Turn on the radio. 2) Press the SLEEP button (9) - the LED shows 90 (for 90 minutes). 3) Press the SLEEP button (9) repeatedly until the display shows the desired SLEEP time period. The time period is shown on the display in sequence: 90 > 80 > 70 > 60 > 50 > 40 > 30 > 20 > 10 > OFF. 4) 2 seconds after the desired SLEEP period is chosen, the display will change to show the current time, and the radio will play for the SLEEP duration you chose, and will turn off automatically. 5) Press the SLEEP button (9) again during SLEEP mode, the LED will show the remaining time of the SLEEP

period, and the SLEEP time can be set again by following above steps 3 & 4. 6) To switch off the SLEEP function during the SLEEP mode, follow step 3 until OFF appears on the LED. When OFF appears the SLEEP function is cancelled. The LED will show the radio frequency and the radio will remain on until being turned off manually. SETTING THE SLEEP TIMER AND ALARM TOGETHER 1) You can set the SLEEP TIMER function and ALARM function together. You must follow the ALARM SETTING procedure and set the alarm first. 2) Turn on the radio, and follow steps 2 & 3 of SETTING THE SLEEP TIMER. Consequently, the radio will be turned off automatically after the SLEEP time has elapsed.
