3 Step 1 Refer to clearances as specified throughout these instructions and select position for your heater. Allow for clearances in roof for flue system. Ensure heater is clear of any combustible materials. EXAMPLES OF TYPICAL INSTALLATIONS Air vents as shown must be used. The vents at the bottom need to be a minimum of,000mm² (equivalent of a cm x cm opening). This allows the air to flow through the enclosure. See Step 4 for further details. 4 Step 2 Put your heater into position: a) For Concrete Slab Only: Use spacers underneath heater to achieve required hearth height. For Combustible Floors Only (such as timber floors): If there is to be any combustible floor covering material (such as carpet) under the heater s final position, it is recommended that it is removed before placing the sub frame and heater into position. Place the sub frame on floor. Place the heater on top of sub frame. The sub frame is provided with the heater. It consists of 12 mm fibre cement sheet, 25 mm steel tube, with 6 mm spacers. SUB FRAME TIMBER FLOOR DIAGRAM NOT TO SCALE b) A hearth will need to be installed in front of the heater. Use 12mm thick cement sheet. Refer to the table below for the hearth dimensions. 5 Step 3 Fix triple case flue to heater. Screw the bottom flue heat shield to the flue outer casing - allow 25 mm clearance. Install through roof to manufacturers specifications to comply with AS/NZS The heater must be installed by a certified installer. We recommend you use a Maxiheat Zero Clearance Flue Kit. 6 Step 4 Locate the timber frame around the heater cabinet. Dimensions below are to the first timber studs in the frame. CAVITY FOR HEATER 1200 (from base of heater) 0 (from heat shield to first internal timber stud) 955 (MEDIUM) 55 (LARGE) You will also need to adhere to the clearance dimensions below. The boxed area for the heater must be sealed from external draughts and vermin. 2. The frame must extend to the ceiling. 3. 7 Step 5 We recommend the heater frame be covered with non-combustible sheeting. A floating isolator panel also needs to be installed. The floating isolator panel sandwiches between the front of the heater and the heater fascia as per diagram below. This panel MUST use noncombustible sheeting. Do not fix the panel. NON-COMBUSTIBLE SHEETING (RECOMMENDED) FRAME FLUE EXISTING WALL LINING FRONT FASCIA HEATER CABINET SUB FRAME DIMENSIONS All dimensions are in millimetres 955 MED 55 LGE MED 750 LGE 720 MED 820 LGE Re-install front fascia over the floating isolator panel. If installing with a mantlepiece: the floating isolator panel edge will be covered by the mantlepiece. If installing without a mantlepiece: a floating isolator panel is still required. Use a trim to finish off the panel edges so that it remains floating. Paint surrounding area and tile hearth with desired tiles. Note: Minor hairline cracks on the floating isolator panel may be noticed with time. These are not a problem and can be repainted after sheet settles. Clean Air Woodheating P/L Page 6

8 Step 6 : Installation with Mantlepiece Fit the mantlepiece and complete the area. Please refer to following pages for mantlepiece installation clearances. Clearances are to combustible materials and are a minimum. 3. The minimum distance between the hot air outlet and the underside of the mantle shelf is 330 mm. For distances over 600 mm, no heatshield is required. 4. The heatshields, as specified above, must be used to maintain clearances. Ensure heatshields extend the width and depth of underside of mantle shelf and key. 5. Clean Air Woodheaters tested by HRL Technology P/L to comply with Australian Standards when installed to enclosed dimensions. The heatshield and keyshield, as specified above, must be used to maintain clearances. Ensure heatshields extend the width and depth of underside of mantle shelf and key. 5. 11 Bottom Flue Heat Shield Specifications A heat shield must be added to the front of the outer flue casing in order to maintain the clearances specified throughout these instructions. This heat shield is provided with the Maxiheat Zero Clearance Flue Kit. If you have purchased a different flue kit, please refer to the diagram below for the bottom flue heat shield requirements Corrosion protected sheet metal must be used.
