Wear work gloves. - Do not touch the heated work piece before it has sufficiently cooled. - Allow the appliance to fully cool down before you put it away. - The hot air flow, the nozzle and the heating element can cause burns. - Dispose of coating and paint waste in a healthy and environmentally responsible way. - Paint containing lead is harmful to health. When you burn off paint containing lead use a suitable respiratory mask. This also applies for other persons in the space. - Children and pregnant women may not enter the workspace. - Eating, drinking and smoking at the place of work is not allowed. HOW TO OPERATE Description of the appliance. 1) blower opening 2) insulation collar 3) on/off selection switch for 50 C and C 4) control panel for temperature and air flow 5) display 6) flat nozzle 7) reflector nozzle 8) reducer nozzle OPERATION Switching on and off. - Fit the required nozzle (6, 7 or 8) on the blower opening (1). - Insert the plug in the plug socket. - Switch the on/off selector switch (3) to the desired position: 1 for 50 C or 2 for C. - The appliance switches on immediately and the display (5) will show the last selected setting for temperature and air flow. - The heating element will warm up and the air will be blown out of the blower opening (1) according to the last setting. - Choose the correct temperature and air flow speed (see the air flow speed and temperature setting section). - After working for a longer time at high temperatures you must allow the appliance to cool down by having it blow in position 1 for a while. - To switch the appliance off again put the on/off selection switch (3) back to position 0. - Place the appliance on a heat-resistant surface to allow it to cool down or place it with the rear on the work surface (also see drawing C). Remove and fit the insulation collar. - You can remove the insulation collar (2) for work in narrow and poorly accessible places. - Keep the rear of the heat gun facing you. - CAUTION: the blower opening (1) and nozzle (6, 7, 8) must have sufficiently cooled. - CAUTION: without insulation collar (2) there is an increased risk of fire. - The insulation collar is firmly fixed to the appliance (2) to prevent it from inadvertently coming loose. Take the insulation collar (2) by hand and pull it over the ridges on the appliance. Some force is needed for this, particularly the first times. - To fit the insulation collar (2) again wait until the temperature has sufficiently cooled again. Then keep the rear of the heat gun facing you again. - Slide the insulation collar (2) along the blower opening (1) back on the housing. Make sure that the ridges on the heat gun fall into the ventilation openings of the insulation collar (2) in the recesses of the housing (see the drawing for the correct position of the insulation collar (2): the ventilation openings below and above, the closed sides left and right). - Slide the insulation collar (2) as close as possible against the housing until it clicks tight. Air flow speed and temperature setting. - Choose the required temperature 1 or 2 with the on/off selection switch (3). - The display (5) will show the last set temperature and air flow. - The air flow speed and temperature can now be changed. - The air flow speed can be changed in both position 1 and position 2 of the on/off selection switch (3). - By pressing the air flow button (+) or (-) you can increase or decrease the blowing speed. - The temperature in position 1 of the on/off selection switch (3) is always 50 C. The temperature in position 2 can be set in steps of 10 C between C. - Press the temperature button (+) once to increase the 6

7 temperature setting by 10 C or press (-) to lower the temperature setting by 10 C. Keeping the temperature button pressed in will increase or decrease the temperature setting by steps of 10 C. Release the button when you have reached the required temperature setting. - When the temperature setting is changed you will see the character " on the display (5). This is the sign that shows you the set temperature on the display (5). This temperature has, however, not yet been reached. The heat gun needs a short while to heat up to the set temperature. - After a few seconds the set temperature disappears and the display (5) shows the actual temperature with a flashing " sign to indicate that the correct temperature has not yet been reached. - As soon as the correct temperature has been reached the " sign will stop flashing to show that the set and the actual temperature are the same. USE Caution: When the machine is used for the first time a little smoke can be caused. This is normal. The drawings in these instructions for use show a number of applications along with the temperature settings for various materials. These temperatures are, however, only guide values. The set temperature can be changed depending on the material, the thickness and shape of the object or the position of the heat gun. You must determine the correct temperature by trial and error. So always start at a temperature that is considerably lower than the temperature mentioned in the examples. Note the temperature when changing nozzles. Hot nozzles must first be allowed to cool down! With most activities there is a danger of harmful vapours and fire. So keep the surroundings free of flammable materials and ventilate the space in which you are working. With dry weather do the work outside when possible. Wear working gloves to prevent hot materials from touching your hands. For treating materials we refer to the product information on the product packaging, information on the internet and product information at your sales outlet. Removal of paint or adhesive (drawing A) - Fit the flat nozzle (6). - Make the paint or coating soft with hot air and remove it with a clean and sharp stripping knife. - Do not heat the paint for too long. Burned paints and coatings are difficult to remove. In places where the paint is firmly attached you can better use sandpaper or a stripping compound rather than the heat gun. - Heat the old coat of paint over a length of 10 cm, remove the paint and continue. - Adhesive from stickers or adhesive between joints usually becomes soft when heated. You can then pull stickers and adhesive joints off and remove the glue residues. Removing paint or coatings at windows or profiles (drawing B). - Fit the flat nozzle (6). - CAUTION: when working near windows there is the possibility of glass breakage. So work extremely carefully and prevent the heating of the glass by screening it off with a sheet of metal, a wall tile or a wide stripping knife. - Immediately scrape off the still warm coat of paint with a scraper and continue until the whole surface of the wood is bare. - Keep the scraper straight on to the wood and do not use too much force. Any damage to the wood means extra filling and sanding work later. - Use the correct type of scraper on profiles. Damage to profiles is difficult to repair later. Bending synthetic piping (drawing C). - Fit the reflector nozzle (7). - Prevent the pipe from folding by fully filling it with sand and close off the ends. - Heat the pipe by evenly moving it to and fro and bend the pipe into the required position. Joining synthetic materials (drawing D). Joining synthetic materials is only possible if the two parts and the welding wire are made of the same material (for example: PVC to PVC with a PVC welding wire) - Synthetic joints are difficult to make. So first practice on residual material. - Fit the reducer nozzle (8). - Place the two parts to be joined against each other. - Make sure that the joint is clean and free of grease. - Heat the seam until it is pliable. CAUTION: the temperature difference between pliable and liquid drivenbycare 7

8 synthetic materials is only limited. - Add the welding wire (possibly residual material) and let it run into the joint until even thickening originates. Shrinking (drawing E). - Fit the reducer nozzle (8). - See the instructions on the packaging of the shrink sleeve. - Choose a shrink sleeve diameter that is suitable for your work piece. - Evenly heat the shrink sleeve until a strong joint is achieved. Thawing water pipes (drawing F) - Caution: gas and water pipes often look the same. Gas pipes may NEVER be heated. - Fit the reflector nozzle (7). - Heat the frozen place from the end to the middle. - Be extra careful with synthetic pipes or synthetic connecting parts to avoid damage or melting. Soft soldering (see drawing G). - For point soldering fit the reducer nozzle (8), or for soldering pipes fit the reflector nozzle (7). - Choose the correct solder for the job. For soldering without flux you must first apply soldering grease or paste. - Also always see the instructions on the packaging of the solder and soldering grease. - Heat the part to be soldered depending on the material for seconds. Add the solder. - The solder must be melted by the temperature of the work piece and is not directly heated. - Remove the flux after soldering and cooling. MAINTENANCE/REPAIRS Lubrication. - The appliance needs no lubrication. Keep the appliance and the cable clean. - Some cleaning products and solvents can damage synthetic parts; these products contain constituents such as benzene, trichloroethylene, chloride or ammonia. Keep the ventilation openings clean. - Never try to clean the ventilation openings by inserting pointed objects into them. - Regularly clean the ventilation openings to avoid blockages. - When the appliance becomes too hot, this can mean blocked ventilation. Excessive sparks usually mean worn carbon brushes. - Always have the carbon brushes replaced by a skilled professional. In the event of an electrical or mechanical defect take the appliance to your sales outlet for checking. Return the appliance at the end of its working life. - At the end of the working life you must hand the appliance in at a collection point. The appliance may not be discarded with household waste. GUARANTEE This product was carefully inspected before it left the factory. We provide a 2-year guarantee year from the date of purchase to cover any defect attributable to material or manufacturing faults that will be repaired free of charge. Damage caused by normal wear, overloading, negligent use or consequential damage in the surroundings due to incorrect use such as fire and glass breakage is excluded from this guarantee. To claim on the guarantee you must save your receipt. The supplier reserves the right to refuse any responsibility when repairs have been made by third parties. Under no circumstances can compensation be claimed with damage to the work piece or in the case of the injury of the appliance user.
