Box Mason Street, Newport, 3015 Victoria, Australia ACN: ABN OPERATING PROCEEDURE FOR BITUMEN SAMPLING ASSEMBLY MBE Drawing No Telephone: (61 3) (61 3) Facsimile: (61 3) Website: With All Valves Shut, Bitumen Pump Stopped and Pipework Clear. 1/ Ensure that all appropriate safety gear is worn during the following procedure. 2/ Remove Dust Plug from Swivel Nut End of Sampling Assembly. 3/ Remove Dust Cap from Sprayer Suction Line or Pressure Delivery Line depending on what product sample is required. Making sure there is no product under pressure in either line. 4/ Align Sampling Assembly Lock Cone and Swivel Nut on to the line required and lock up with the Hose Coupling Spanner supplied with the Sprayer. 5/ Remove the Chained Dust Cap from the opposite end of the Sampling Assembly and attach Loading Hose or Delivery Hose as required. Tighten Hose Swivel Nut with Hose Coupling Spanner. 6/ Place the 1 litre Sample Container inside the support frame and attach the securing chain. 7/ After pumping is established and pipe work is hot, slow the pump speed down and carefully open the sampling valve until the required sample is obtained, close the valve and continue pumping. 8/ With the sample container still in the support frame fit the lid and press the lid down with the hose coupling spanner by locating the end of the spanner handle under the lug at the rear wall of the support frame and gently pressing lid down without undue force. 4 9/ Remove the safety chain & remove sample container. 10/ After all samples are obtained shut down the pumping system, flush & remove the Bitumen Hose in the normal manner. 11/ Fit the chained hose coupling cap to hose adaptor end and remove sampling assembly from the sprayer and fit the dust plug. Store the sampling assembly in the tool box or spraybar extension storage box. Note: - If samples are required from the Sprayer before or after cutters and, or, fluxes have been mixed and there is no Sampling Valve built into the pressure side of the piping system. The following procedure should be followed. 1/ Fit the Sampling Assembly to the External Delivery Hose Coupling on the pressure side of the bitumen pumping system as described previously. 2/ Ensure that the chained dust cap is still in place and firmly tightened. 3/ After circulating the product through the system and all Pipework is hot, slowly open the External Delivery Valve to the Sampling Assembly, slowly open the Sampling Assembly Valve until the required sample is obtained. 4/ If no further samples are required reverse the bitumen pump and slowly open the Sampling Assembly Valve so the air can enter the system and remove product from the Sampling Assembly until the next sample is required. 5/ Close the External Delivery Control Valve and continue circulation or spraying functions. 6/ Remove Sampling Assembly fit Dust Plug and stow away.
