2 Process diagram of the Bosch ATO (Automatic Tub Opening) Bosch ATO (Automatic Tub Opening) with upstream ABO (Automatic Bag Opening) Minimal particle risk through research by the Bosch Pharma Lab After comprehensive research by the Bosch Pharma Lab, the ATO opening process was created and is one of a kind in terms of safety and reproducibility. Pre-heating of the tub and optimized motion-sequences of re-moving and disposing of the lid and inlay foil obtain an extremely low particle opening process. The ATO formula of success: specific pre-heating and isolator-fit robotics with a human touch Before the lid removal, the adherent area of the outside lid is heated by means of a heating frame. Simultaneously, an integrated heated knife cuts a score mark into the top rim of the tub, which guarantees the safe control of the outside lid when being removed. The specifically designed clean area Bosch Pharma Handling Unit takes care of the outside lid removal. This well proven servo-technology enables complex motions that are modelled after human arm movements. With this technology, the outside lid is peeled off the tub in the safest and most particle-free approach. Simultaneously, the movement allows for immediate disposal of the lid in the ATO s waste bin. After the lid removal, a vacuum gripper extracts the inlay foil and disposes of it in a second waste bin. Four sensors are utilized to examine all critical areas of the tub to ensure proper lid and inlay foil removal
