3 Section 1 - Introduction Thank you for purchasing this Jenway accessory for the 74 series Spectrophotometer. 1.1 General Description The peltier accessory allows the user to adjust the temperature applied to the curvette holder between 20ºC and 50ºC with a resolution of 0.1ºC. 1.2 Important Safety Advice Users should refer to the 74 Series spectrophotometer instruction manual for a full list of safety advice. 1.3 Symbols Defined HOT SURFACE INFORMATION RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK Section 2 - Installation 2.1 Unpacking Before discarding the packaging check that all parts are present and correct. 1 Peltier 2 Thumb screws x Lid 4 Instruction manual 2.2 Installation Conditions Users should refer to the 74 series instruction manual for a full list of safe operating conditions: WARNING: Before installing or removing any accessories, ensure that the equipment is cool, and disconnect from the power supply. 4 2.3 Installing Peltier Lid Remove the current passive or active accessory if needed; this will expose the bottom of the sample chamber and the power supply connection needed to operate the peltier. Remove screws x4 and lid springs x2 and then remove the lid. Fit the new peltier lid and secure with screws x4 and lid springs x2. 2

5 2.4 Installing Peltier Accessory Connect the power supply in the bottom of the sample chamber to the connector on the underside of the peltier base plate and secure with thumb screws x

6 Section 3 - Operation 3.1 Setting Temperature When the peltier is installed the active accessory icon is displayed on the home or measurement method screen. To set temperature, touch on the home or measurement method screen and touch the set point temperature displayed to enter a new value. Touch to return. 3.2 Taking a Measurement Select the measurement mode you require (photometrics has been used as an example only). Set up the required measurement parameters and insert the cuvette containing the blank solution. Close the instrument lid and wait for the peltier temperature to stablise. NOTE: Before starting measurement ensure peltier temperature warning icon is not displayed. 4

7 NOTE: If the peltier has not achieved the set temperature, the following error will be displayed: After the set temperature has been achieved, begin measurements. IMPORTANT NOTE REGARDING DATA CORRUPTION OR LOSS DO NOT TURN OFF while the device is performing measurements, transferring or accessing information. DO NOT FORMAT OR REMOVE the storage device (i.e., SD Card, USB storage, etc.) during operation. These actions will cause data to be corrupted or lost. Always make backup copies of all important data stored in the device. Jenway is not responsible for losses, including corruption or loss of data resulting from the misuse of storage devices. Section 4 - Service, Repairs and Support 4.1 Service, Repairs and Support NOTE: This product range does not require any routine servicing. There are no internal user replacement parts Any service, repairs or replacement of parts MUST be undertaken by suitably qualified personnel. Only spare parts supplied or specified by Cole-Parmer or its agents should be used. Fitting of non-approved parts may affect the performance and safety features designed into the instrument.
