Date: 18/ User Guide Page: 6 of Description of the machine 1.1 Use: The hot water cleaner is designed for high pressure washing using hot water and can deliver a flow of between 14 and 30 litres of water per minute. The integrated pump can achieve a pressure of between 150 and 240 bar, depending on the model selected. For technical reasons, the pumps in the highpressure washers cannot operate in water temperatures above 60 C, so heating initially takes place once the water has reached the correct pressure. In most cases, the water temperature can improve the cleaning process on individual greasy surfaces. The hot water cleaner requires a power supply of either 3 x 230 volts or 3 x 400 volts. See data plate. The hot water cleaner may only be used with domestic water or recovered rain water with a purity level equivalent to standard supply water. The addition of substances via a dosing unit can improve high pressure cleaning and may only be added through this tool if the substances in question are suitable for use at high temperatures under significant pressure. This form of cleaning requires that the conditions for use for these cleaning agents are followed to the letter. Heating takes place in a sealed combustion chamber in which standard diesel is constantly ignited by a glow plug. The tank is fitted in front of the tool and can hold 20 litres of diesel. The machine is normally controlled by a single operator and shall principally be used under supervision. It cannot be ruled out that the machine may be controlled by multiple operators. Therefore, cleaning must be carried out with care. The hot water cleaner is relatively quiet, producing less than 70 db. However, the operator must wear ear defenders if it is judged that the noise levels produced during work will be damaging to hearing. In other words, even at noise levels below 85 db(a), ear defenders must be worn. Examples of possible uses: Engine and undercarriage cleaning in the automotive industry. Contractor machinery. Agricultural machinery. Purification plant. Farming.

Date: 18/ User Guide Page: 7 of Function: Cross-section of boiler with glow plug and combustion chamber at the top between pipe twists. Cross-section of 3 cyl. pump piston. The tool consists of an epoxy-coated steel frame and a stainless steel casing. The hot water cleaner heats water in a combustion chamber where a blow motor, glow plug transformer and temperature control ensure efficient heating. The pump is fitted directly to the output shaft of the electric motor, affording a variable power of between 4.0 and 755 kw, or 5.5 and 10 hp. Diesel is used as the fuel for heating the water in this tool. Use of other fuels is not permitted. A doublesided, air-cooled steel boiler with a flow-through spiral ensures a very high level of efficiency with minimal energy consumption. The environmentally-friendly combustion values, 10-11% CO2, soot concentration 1-2. means that exhaust gases are channelled out through an opening in the top side of the tool, which must not be covered. The hot water cleaner is designed to be used outdoors or in well-ventilated rooms. Water temperature is raised steplessly from 0 C to max. 80 C. In addition, a fuse is fitted to prevent overheating, stopping the boiler when the temperature reaches108 / 109 C. Furthermore, a Flowmeter stops heating if there is insufficient water, only allowing the hot water cleaner to start once water is back in the pipes. There are different models in the range, each of which is designed for a pressure between 150 and 240 bar. All models have same appearance, only the pump and electric motors differ from model to model. Unauthorised repair and adjustment is not permitted as this can affect combustion and the development of unwanted gases. The side screens can be detached using rubber hasps, which makes it easy to service the unit. The boiler is double-skinned, allowing the surface around the boiler to be maintained at a temperature below 70 c.

Date: 18/ User Guide Page: 8 of Instructions for use and maintenance instructions 2.1 Preparation The hot water cleaner is moved either using a truck connected directly to a pallet on which the unit is secured or by attaching a crane lift in 4 lifting lugs. See section 4.1). The weight of each model may vary between 135 and 190 kg without water. Never lift the unit more than 0.5 m and never above persons. Connect power and water once the unit is standing on a stable and level floor. This unit has been factory tested and test operated, but transit may necessitate in the unit requiring fine adjustment and a visual check of all functions. Always check for loose power wires, screws and defective joints. Make sure that personal protective equipment is within easy reach. We recommend that protective clothing, goggles, gloves and safety footwear are used whenever the hot water cleaner is operated. Always ensure work is conducted in accordance with good ergonomic principles and schedule breaks during extensive and lengthy work tasks. Avoid overstressing your back and arms, and organise the working day in consultation with management. Organise variations or adequate breaks in order to avoid unilateral loads. Check the oil level in the pump inspection window. Check to see if it is possible to connect the correct mains voltage. Check that the water filter is free from dirt. Refill diesel in the tank (holds max. 20 litres) and, if necessary, fit any missing side walls. Supply port Discharge port Connect the water supply to the hot water cleaner using a ¾" web-reinforced hose. Use tap water or "reject water" (purified waste water), if this is available.

Date: 18/ User Guide Page: 9 of Operation Only persons over the age of 18 may operate this machine. (Danish At Guidelines D 2.20 November 2006): Young people who are subject compulsory education requirements must not work with pressure equipment. Young people over the age of 15 who are not subject to compulsory education requirements must, as a general rule, not work with pressure equipment at a pressure in excess of 7 MPa (70 bar). However, young people over the age of 16 who are not subject to compulsory education requirements may work with pressure equipment at a working pressure in excess of 7 MPa (70 bar) within agricultural and gardening applications. The pressure equipment may only be used for cleaning, painting, application of anti-corrosion agents, etc. Young people under the age of 18 may not work for more than 4 hours per day using air-supplied respiration equipment. For prolonged use of high pressure equipment use vibration dampening gloves like type TEGERA 9185 Before starting: Remove objects or goods which may be damaged during high pressure cleaning. If the hot water cleaner is on sloping terrain, set stop blocks under one of the wheels. The pressure washer must be used only on a ladder where a platform ladder with guard rails is available. The height of the platform shall not exceed 3 m. The platform ladder must be designed in accordance with the principles of EN 131, or have an equivalent safety level. Connection of the high-pressure section: 1. Fit one end of high pressure hose to the gun. The other end is to be fitted to the unit s discharge port. Fit the spray nozzle to the gun. 2. Before using the machine, check the high-pressure hose for breaks. In instances where controls are replaced, the replacements must have the same specifications as the originals. The technical specifications (max. working pressure, date of fabrication and manufacturer) must be stamped on the hose. Connection of water supply: 1. Connect a reinforced water hose with 19 mm int. dia. (3/4 ") to machine input. 2. Please note, the water supply must be shortened to match the length of the supply hose. Important: Please ensure that the water entering the machine is totally clean. Use of the machine without water or with water that is contaminated with sand or corrosive materials will destroy the pump. Connection to electricity supply: 1. Check that the mains voltage is the same as that specified on the type plate on the machine. 2. Make sure the power cord is legal in accordance with Danish standards and is earthed. 3. Do not connect other machines to the same power socket. 4. Before using the machine, check the power cord for breaks. If a break is found, the power cord must be replaced by a qualified person. Only a cord of the same type as the original may be used. The cord is labelled on the outside. Do not attempt to perform repairs on the power cord. 5. Once you have checked that the switch on the machine is in the OFF position, connect the plug to the power socket.

Turn on the water. The hot water cleaner can also be used as a regular cold water cleaner, which can be activated by turning the switch on the control panel to the "1" position, thus preventing the boiler from engaging. Turn the switch on the hot water cleaner to the "2" position to start the burner and set the thermostat at the desired temperature (0 80 C). The boiler will start heating the water and, after a short period of time, high pressure washing using hot water can begin. The temperature can be adjusted on an ongoing basis using either the thermostat or the red knob. The less water, the higher the temperature. Never pull the machine's electrical cables or high pressure hoses. Remember, hot jets of water under high pressure have a wrenching effect on sensitive surfaces. Never turn the jet on yourself or towards other people or animals. Even at lower water temperatures, the cleaner may not be used to give baths" to animals as the water jet can cause serious damage to areas that it comes into contact with. Sensitive areas such as the eyes and ears can suffer severe and painful damage. Electrical installations and live electrical cables must not pressure washed.

Date: 18/ User Guide Page: 11 of 36 Take steps to ensure that flammable objects do not come near the exhaust pipe. Indoor high pressure cleaning is only permitted in well-ventilated rooms. If you feel unwell during cleaning, you must immediately stop work and go out in the open air. In addition to the inhalation of exhaust gases from the machine, nausea may also be induced by any cleaning agents that may have been used during the washing process. Therefore, you should thoroughly investigate whether these materials have been used correctly from both a safety and an environmental perspective. This information can usually be found on the packaging that accompanied the cleaning agent. Never try experimenting with additives that may be hazardous to human or animal health. If liquid gets in your eyes, rinse immediately under running water and then seek medical attention. If possible, provide information about the cleaning agent, e.g. bring the packaging, so that the doctor can determine the best course of treatment. Cleaning agents can vary in quality, and so steps should be taken to ensure that any cleaning agent you use is suitable for use at high temperatures and under high pressure. Consideration should also be given to the environment, particularly in instances where waste water will flow into untreated drains. If necessary, obtain a datasheet pertaining to the cleaning agent on which its hazard class and personal protection requirements are defined on a scale of 1-6, with 6 being the most hazardous! Never use aggressive substances such as acids, thinners or explosives in this tool. If possible, switch to a less corrosive cleaning agent. Even if the hot water cleaner has only been operated using clean tap water, never drink water from the machine as the bacteria content may have increased and be left over from a previous heating. The heated water from the hot water cleaner must not be used in connection with the production or preparation of food as machines used in the product of foods are subject to some extremely strict requirements. Loss of water or power will not damage the hot water cleaner as both types of situation are mitigated by the unit s integrated control system. Once the water and/or power supply has been re-established, the cleaner will start heating again. Never leave the hot water cleaner running unsupervised. Turn the thermostat to 0 C and pull the gun trigger for approx. 1 min to allow the boiler and spiral tube to cool. Turn off the water supply and open the piston in order to drain water from the system and depressurise the hose. Turn the switch to the 0 position and disconnect the plug from the power socket. Frost protection is done by disconnecting both connecting pieces so that all the water in the unit can run out or using the antifreeze method described later in this document. The high-pressure washer is to be protected against frost in accordance with this User Guide.

Date: 18/ User Guide Page: 12 of 36 Respiratory Equipment/Ear Defenders (Danish At Guidelines D November 2006): When working under 2.5 MPa (25 bar) and if there are aggravating factors such as chemicals that are harmful to health when inhaled, micro-organisms or residues of organic origin present, the employee shall wear appropriate respiratory equipment. Appropriate respiratory equipment shall always be used when working over 2.5 MPa (25 bar). Respiratory equipment must feature a filter of at least class P2, which provides protection against solid particles and liquid aerosols. The safest thing to do is to use respiratory equipment with an on-board air supply. There can often be doubt as to the nature and concentration of air pollution, because it can be difficult to determine what materials are removed from surfaces that have been pressure-washed. If the employee is to spend more than three hours a day working with a pressure washer, the respiratory equipment used must have an on-board air supply or feature filtration supplemented by a turbo unit (fan). Inhalation of aerosols containing surfactants (e.g. soap) and grease and protein residues heightens the risk of the development of respiratory ailments and is also a mucosal irritant (3). The employer shall ensure that employees use ear defenders as soon as work that is deemed to be damaging to hearing begins. In other words, even at noise levels below 85 db(a), ear defenders must be worn (4). Respiratory equipment and ear defenders must fit together, and should preferably be tested together. At Guidelines D.5.4 January 2008: Filtering face mask. Filtering respiratory mask. Particle filters are divided into three classes: P1 low effect filter P2 medium effect filter P3 high effect filter Respiratory equipment with onboard air supply Class P2 filters have better filtration characteristics and therefore provide more extensive protection. They protect against harmful and toxic dust, but not against radioactive dust, bacteria and viruses. These filters can protect only against solid particles or against both solid particles and liquid aerosols. If the filter has been certified in accordance with EN149:2001, it affords protection against both solid particles and liquid aerosols. For more information, see At Guidelines D.5.4 January When planning work, it must be remembered that aerosols, especially small particulate, remain in the air for a long time, even after pressure work has stopped. Therefore, it will often be necessary to use personal protective equipment, even after pressure work has stopped. The smallest aerosol particulates can remain in the air for up to 1.5 hours.

Date: 18/ User Guide Page: 13 of 36 Important. Only use biological chemicals with a ph value of between 7 and 12. These chemicals must be compliant with the laws and regulations of the countries in which they are used. The use regulations for this machine must be strictly adhered to. 14 Date: 18/ User Guide Page: 14 of 36 Important. After using chemicals/soap, the injector suction hose and check valve MUST be flushed with clean water. Place the injector suction hose in a bucket or similar vessel containing clean water, and allow the injector to suck up water for a few minutes. Never direct the jet towards electrical installations or living objects. Never pull the machine by electrical cables or high pressure hoses as this may result in the machine s components being damaged and invalidate the warranty. Because it is under high pressure, the water jet has a cutting effect on delicate surfaces. Stop the machine. Shut off the water, open the gun and allow the machine to run for seconds. Disconnect the motor protection device. Purge hose pressure. Disconnect the power plug. Frost protection. The cleaner must be stored in a frost-free environment. If this not possible, protect the pump and pump components in the following way: Fit one end of a short 3/4" hose to the water inflow and place the other end of the in a 5l of methylated spirits. Start the cleaner, open the gun and close again once the methylated spirits start coming out of the nozzles. If the machine has been exposed to frost, never start it before it has been completely thawed. Allow your dealer to check for any damage. Even if the high-pressure washer has only been operated using clean tap water, never drink water from the machine as the bacteria content may have increased and be left over from a previous heating. Hot water that has passed through the high-pressure washer must not be used in connection with the production or preparation of food as machines used in the product of foods are subject to some extremely strict requirements.

Date: 18/ User Guide Page: 15 of Safety rules 1. Always wear protective equipment as described in the work instructions. Use suitable work clothing, safety goggles, gloves, safety footwear, respiratory equipment and ear defenders. Take the health and safety of fellow workers into account. Never use the spray to clean boots or protective clothing. 2. Accidents would be greatly reduced if proper working lights were to be set up around the work site. 3. Only trained personnel may remain in the vicinity of the hot water cleaner whilst it is in operation. 4. This User Guide must be available to everyone who uses the tools. 5. The hot water cleaner and high-pressure washer must not be used if there are faults in safety-related devices - overpressure valves, thermostats or mechanical parts that may cause scalding. All electrical connections must be waterproof. 6. High pressure hoses and lances must be of an approved type and free of defects.

Date: 18/ User Guide Page: 16 of The hot water cleaner must not be covered as the exhaust gases emitted will be very hot. 8. If necessary, make sure that there is good exhaust gas ventilation. 9. Never direct the water jet towards yourself, other people or animals. Cleaning of clothes. 10. Avoid spraying electrical wiring and installations. 11. Be careful around sensitive and expensive installations. 12. Avoid cleaning parts that have contact with food. 13. Use only approved cleaning agents that are designed for hot water cleaning. 14. Dispose of empty packaging at an approved local authority waste reception centre. 15. If necessary, use respiration equipment if there is a risk of inhaling harmful vapours. See the hazard class shown on the cleaning agent packaging. 16. Frost may result in pipes bursting, immediately destroying the hot water cleaner. The machine must always be stored in a frost-free location. If this is not possible, protect the machine against the effects of frost as described in the next section of the User Guide. 17. Hot water cleaning in freezing weather requires immediate start-up, after which the hot water must be use immediately. Please note that cleaning may cause ice accretion. 18. Never leave the hot water cleaner running unsupervised. 19. If necessary, the hot water cleaner can be prevented from moving using stop chocks. 20. Nobody must be present under a hot water cleaner that is being lifted. 21. Any repair or adjustment must only be carried out once steps have been taken to ensure that the main power is secured against unintentional start, e.g. disconnect the plug from the power socket. Changes to the machine's functionality are made at your own risk. Deterioration of health and safety functions may put the owner of the machine in a legally untenable position, particularly where changes or decisions taken have resulted in personal injury. As a rule, significant changes require a new CE marking on the hot water cleaner.

Power 230 V Power 400 V Hot Water Cleaner Batch Date: 18/ User Guide Page: 17 of Maintenance guide 3.1 General maintenance Any repairs or adjustments may only be carried out when the main switch is locked and when the hot water cleaner is secured against accidental start-up. A removable power plug also provides an extra layer of safety for the person conducting repairs. Make sure that all pressure is equalised before disconnecting high pressure pipes and hoses. During each start-up: Conduct a visual check of the hoses for wear and tear. Conduct a visual check for diesel leaks. Conduct a visual check for a blocked exhaust. Conduct a visual check for water leaks. Monitor for thermostat stop. Check for any noise from blow motor/motor bearings. Once a year: Perform a visual inspection of the chassis and lifting bracket. Look for cracks and loose bolts. Test the thermostat by measuring the temperature. Heating must stop at 80 C. Test flow meter. Inspect exhaust pipes for signs of soot build up. Thread collection by supply and discharge port. Seals at all electrical installations. Review of chassis for signs of rust and impact damage. Evaluation of exhaust smoke - possible measurement of carbon ratio and CO2 level. Apply a thin layer of lubrication to the wheel hubs if necessary. Frost protection: Drain the hot water cleaner by disconnecting the supply and discharge pipes, allowing the water to run down the spiral pipe into the boiler. Tip the machine slightly in order to ensure that all the water runs out. Alternatively, coolant may be sucked into the pipe system through the cold water connection until the fluid comes out of the nozzle on the spray gun. Descaling: Descaling is to be carried out as necessary and it is important in order to prevent clogging of the spiral pipe in the boiler. Fill with water and acetic acid in a ratio of 1 part acetic acid to 10 parts water, and allow to stand for a few hours. Flush out the loosened scale and dirt. In extremely hard water areas, additional treatment may be necessary in order to avoid future clogging of spray gun nozzle.

Date: 18/ User Guide Page: 18 of 36 Diesel nozzle: The nozzle must be replaced as necessary, or at least every 2 years, following an inspection conducted by an authorised person. This is best done during an OR test and by an authorised technician. Comply with national requirements. Electrodes: Clean electrodes are essential in order to achieve good operating economy and stable operation. Therefore, we recommend that the electrodes are removed as necessary. or at least every 2 years, during an inspection carried out by an authorised person. The entire starting assembly is located under the top plate and, after a thorough cleaning (using a wire brush), check the following distances (see drawing) before refitting. If the electrodes are burnt out, replace the entire starting assembly and, if necessary, fit a new nozzle. This is best done during an OR test and by an authorised technician. Electrodes and nozzle Combustion chamber Combustion chamber: The combustion chamber is to be inspected as necessary, or at least every 2 years, along with the nozzle and check electrode. The easiest way to clean the chamber is to insert a long brush and then vacuum out the loosened debris. Finish cleaning by conducting OR test, which is to be carried out by an authorised technician. Comply with national requirements, which may vary from country to country. General: Repeated fuse trips may be attributed to errors in the control system or electronic devices, and incorrect current may cause electric shock. (230 Volts or 400 Volts) Repairs may only be carried out by an authorised installer who is able to locate the fault and carry out appropriate repairs before the hot water cleaner is put back into use. The machine itself can withstand immersion in water, e.g. in a standard car wash, whereas electrical components may only be cleaned using high pressure air and wiping with clean rags. Only clean whilst the unit is cold. Paint damage can be repaired by grinding and then applying layers of base coat and top coat (1-component top coat). Once the hot water cleaner has reached the end of its service life, it must be disposed of in accordance with local authority scrappage regulations applicable at the time.

Date: 18/ User Guide Page: 28 of 36 4 Installation and fitting 4.1 Moving Crane lifts must be executed by securing the unit in 4 x M10 lifting lugs with the original bolts in the top plate. Securing the unit in other parts may result in accidents and is done at your own risk. Lifting must be done with the power disconnected and the unit cold. All accrued pressure in hoses and the boiler must be equalised. Truck lift must only be executed across the machine and when the unit is secured to a transport pallet. Weight: approx kg without water. See data plate. The unit may only be handled by individuals certified to conduct manual handling of heavy loads. Never lift the unit above persons. Avoid lifting the unit more than 0.5 metres. Make sure that the transport route is free of people and other obstacles. The machine must always be lowered with great caution. Bumps and impacts may affect the boiler s combustion chamber and glow plug, necessitating new settings to be applied in order to ensure reliable and economical combustion. The hot water cleaner has only been approved for use in industrial environments as its built-in components do not satisfy the EMC requirements for use in residential areas. 4.2 Installation of stationary hot water cleaner The only structural difference between the mobile and stationary model is the cabinet. The unit is to be installed directly in the frame using bolts and screws. If siting the unit in a free-standing position, 4 adjustable rubber feet must be used. Stationary hot water cleaners shall be installed in areas where exhaust gas emissions produce minimum inconvenience to the immediate environment. In confined areas, exhaust gases must be routed to the open air through appropriate piping. The installation must be carried out in accordance with applicable regulations and building codes. In some countries, the installation must also be approved by a local chimney sweep. It is extremely important that the exhaust gases, or the pipe carrying such gases, do/does not pass in close proximity to combustible materials or building ventilation systems that may suck in dangerous carbon monoxide. The electrical system of building installations shall be installed by a qualified electrician. Contact KENT if circumstances arise that may require expert help during installation.
