2 WHAT ARE ENERGY EFFICIENCY LABELS? Energy Efficiency Labels are designed to provide you with accurate, recognisable and comparable information on domestic household products regarding energy, performance and other essential characteristics such as water, origin of product, noise levels etc. This allows you to know how efficiently a product uses energy. The Energy Efficiency Label is the same for all products in a given category. You can thus easily compare the characteristics of s in a given category such as energy or water, or capacity. WHY ARE THEY IMPORTANT? The coloured strips on the energy efficiency labels allow you to identify s that are energy efficient so that you can make smart purchases. The Energy Efficiency Label generally classifies products from A to G, A being the most energy efficient class and G the least energy efficient. HOW TO READ AND UNDERSTAND THEM? However you may also see higher categories appear in the green strips such as A+, A++ and A+++ as s are becoming more energy efficient. The Energy Efficiency Label rates s from dark green (most energy efficient) to red (least energy efficient). So, for the most energy efficient s, look for the dark green strip. Another important information indicated on the energy efficiency label is the amount of energy that the product uses in a year. The lower this number is, the less energy it uses.
