6 Types of Energy Efficiency Standards Prescriptive standards Require that a particular feature or device be fitted or installed in all new products Minimum energy performance standards (MEPS) Prescribe minimum efficiency levels or maximum energy consumption that appliances/equipment must achieve Class average standards Specify the average efficiency of a manufactured product allowing each manufacturer to select the level of efficiency for each model so that overall average is met
