Vol. 10, No. 1 New Merchandisers Emphasize What s Inside CGB and CGD series merchandisers are designed to fade into the background, placing the product front and center (CGD-59 deli merchandiser shown). Tilt-up front glass makes it easy to clean and load. We ve always heard it s what s inside that counts and Master-Bilt s three new merchandiser styles are designed around that idea. CGB series refrigerated bakery merchandisers, CGD series refrigerated deli merchandisers and RCT series refrigerated countertop merchandisers are the latest additions to the growing Master-Bilt line. The first thing you notice with all three series is high product visibility. In fact, the cabinets themselves are designed to fade into the background. The expansive tempered front glass and minimal frame of the CGB and CGD models places the focus completely on the product inside. The front glass also tilts up for easy cleaning and loading. Glass ends add even more visibility. On the inside, the visual appeal is boosted by lighting in the top of the case and under each shelf. CGB and CGD models share the same dimensions and design so they seamlessly fit next to each other in a continuous line-up. CGB and CGD models are equipped with standard shelving to make the most of interior space. CGB models are equipped with three adjustable white wire shelves providing more sales space for breads, cakes, cookies and other baked items. CGD models are equipped with full-length stainless steel mezzanine shelves to showcase meats and cheese. CGD-50 and CGD-59 models have one shelf while the CGD-77 uses two shelves to span the case length. Other features include removable sliding rear doors for additional product access. CGB and CGD series models are available in 50-, 59- and 77-inch widths. CGB and CGD models are classified to NSF standards for food zone requirements meaning food can be stored inside in open containers, pans or platters. This translates into reduced packaging costs for end-users and quicker service for their customers. The countertop RCT series shares many of the same features of the CGB and CGD models. Two full-length lighted wire shelves give ample room for showing sandwiches, salads or beverages. There s also minimum framing on the front glass to block what s inside. And getting to what s inside is easy with the removable sliding rear doors. Selfserve, self-closing front doors are optional. Additionally, RCT models feature an exterior rear mounted refrigeration system which allows the maximum interior sales space. RCT models come in three- and four-foot widths. RCT countertop refrigerators feature two standard lighted shelves and minimal framing to showcase product. Optional stainless steel ends shown. The CM-3-50 cooler and the CL-5-75 and CL freezers still have the same internal capacity but are a couple of inches wider and deeper. See the new drawings at right. Full specifications are available online at Milk Cooler Compressor Warranty Revised Master-Bilt has revised the compressor warranty on ATMC and ATMC-D series milk coolers so that the fouryear extension is standard like all other cabinet models. The parts and labor warranty remains at one year. Previously, the extended four-year compressor warranty was an option available for purchase. SIDE VIEW ELEVATION VIEW Fusion Reach-In Now 115V The three-door Fusion BSD-80TFA model s electrical system is now 115 volt. The switch from the former volt version makes electrical connection more convenient for the end user. Specifications are online at PLAN VIEW Three step-in models are now two inches wider and deeper but with no change in internal capacity. The Fusion BSD-80TFA reach-in freezer has been changed to 115 volt making an easier installation for end users. When it arrived, he poured the coffee into an ashtray and ate the cup and saucer leaving only the handle lying on the table. The man called the waiter over and ordered another cup of coffee. Again, when it came he poured out the coffee and ate the cup and saucer. After a while there was nothing but a pile of handles in front of the man. He sensed the waiter watching him and said, You think I m crazy, don t you? Yes, sir, I do, the waiter replied. The handle s the best part. Taking A Tour Of Hell The devil smiled. He was happily leading a guided tour through the Halls of Hades. He led the group into an area and pointed out a fire-and-brimstone exhibit. Next he took them into a room where billions of clocks hung on the walls. The devil cleared his throat and explained to the group in an important tone of voice that every person on Earth was represented by one of the clocks. Each time a person does something nasty, their clock ticks backward by one minute, he explained. One of the tour participants raised his hand and said, I happen to know an IRS agent whose name is Max Tax. Do you have his clock? The devil grinned widely at the question and said, Oh, his is in the back room. We use it as a fan. Be Careful What You Wish For One day six retired men sat in an apartment playing poker when one of them, Jack Murphy, lost $500 in a single hand. In shock, he clutched his chest and crumpled at the table dead. Out of respect for their friend, the five others stood up as they continued playing. Eventually, one of the men looked around the table and said, Boys, someone s got to tell Jack s wife what s happened. Who will it be? They decided to draw straws and Jimmy Jones drew the short one. Discretion is my middle name. Now let me out o here so I can get this done. Jimmy went over to the Murphy home and knocked gently on the door. When Mrs. Murphy answered, Jimmy said, I must tell you that your husband has just lost $500 playing poker and is afraid to come home. Tell him to drop dead! cried Murphy s wife. That I ll do, assured Jimmy.

6 6 Partners In Success East Lake Country Club Atlanta, GA At over 105 years old, East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, GA is one of the most prestigious golf courses in the country, and one of the most breathtaking. Designed by architect Tom Bendelow, East Lake is home to the Tour Championship presented by Coca-Cola and the PGA Tour finale where names like Tiger Woods and VJ Singh tee off in search of bragging rights. But East Lake Country Club is not only known for its course, it is also home to one of the world s most elite club houses, masterfully operated by world renowned Executive Chef Michael Deihl. Chef Deihl has 38 years experience in the food and beverage industry, and has overseen kitchens at some of the finer country clubs, hotels, restaurants and catering facilities on the East Coast. As the executive chef of one of the most prominent clubs in the country, chefs worldwide look to Deihl for advice on everything from ingredients to equipment. Deihl recently oversaw a renovation of the East Lake clubhouse, expanding the kitchen by 20,000 square feet, tripling its size with an addition of an à la carte area. He first came across Master-Bilt in October 2007 at the North American Food Equipment Manufacturer s Show in Atlanta, GA. I went to the show looking for equipment for the renovation, and Master-Bilt had everything I needed, says Deihl. I was impressed by their professionalism and expansive product line and would recommend them to everyone. Deihl purchased a Master-Bilt walk-in freezer and a walk-in cooler, as well as an award-winning Master Controller with reverse cycle defrost. Master-Bilt s equipment sells itself it s reliable and durable, everything that a chef looks for in his equipment, says Deihl. The walk-ins maintain a consistent temperature and that is so important when considering food safety. Deihl says he is most impressed with Master-Bilt s Master Controller with reverse cycle defrost. This proprietary process involves a reverse cycle valve added to the condensing unit which reverses the direction of refrigerant flow during defrosts. The reverse cycle is automatically activated by the Master Controller electronic control system, saving the user energy and money as well as adding convenience. I had a huge problem with defrosting before, to the point that I would have to go into the cooler with a torch and melt the ice myself, says Deihl. Now my old walk-in cooler has a new Master Controller and it is just fantastic. It works like a brand new cooler. The compressors for the equipment had to be installed on the roof and Deihl says he expected some hitches in the process. The Master-Bilt installer (Direct South) ran the pipes from the refrigeration system to the roof with absolutely no questions or problems, says Deihl. My overall experience with Master-Bilt has been tremendous. The renovation started in March 2008 and was completed in September 2008, just in time for the Tour Championship. We have received tremendous feedback on the equipment, says Deihl. As a chef, not having to worry about your equipment takes a huge burden off your back. Now I can just worry about my food!
