SAFETY PRECAUTIONS Please read tese SAFETY PRECAUTIONS carefully before installing air conditioning unit and be sure to install it correctly. After completing installation, conduct a trial operation to ceck for faults and explain to te customer ow to operate te air conditioner and take care of it wit te aid of te operation manual. Ask te customer to store te installation manual along wit te operation manual for future reference. Tis air conditioner comes under te term appliances not accessible to te general public. Safety Precaution VRV System is a class A product. In a domestic environment tis product may cause radio interference in wic case te user may be required to take adequate measures. Meaning of WARNING and CAUTION notices WARNING...Failure to follow tese instructions properly may result in personal injury or loss of life. CAUTION...Failure to observe tese instructions properly may result in property damage or personal injury, wic may be serious depending on te circumstances. WARNING factory refrigerant carge of te product: see unit name plate () additional refrigerant amount carged in te field total refrigerant carge Contains fluorinated greenouse gases covered by te Kyoto Protocol outdoor unit refrigerant cylinder and manifold for carging Ask your dealer or qualified personnel to carry out installation work. Do not attempt to install te air conditioner yourself. Improper installation may result in water leakage, electric socks or fire. Install te air conditioner in accordance wit te instructions in tis installation manual. Improper installation may result in water leakage, electric socks or fire. Wen installing te unit in a small room, take measures against to keep refrigerant concentration from exceeding allowable safety limits in te event of refrigerant leakage. Contact te place of purcase for more information. Excessive refrigerant in a closed ambient can lead to oxygen deficiency. Be sure to use only te specified accessories and parts for installation work. Failure to use te specified parts may result in te unit falling, water leakage, electric socks or fire. Install te air conditioner on a foundation strong enoug to witstand te weigt of te unit. A foundation of insufficient strengt may result in te equipment falling and causing injury. Carry out te specified installation work after taking into account strong winds, typoons or eartquakes. Failure to do so during installation work may result in te unit falling and causing accidents. 7 Make sure tat a separate power supply circuit is provided for tis unit and tat all electrical work is carried out by qualified personnel according to local laws and regulations and tis installation manual. An insufficient power supply capacity or improper electrical construction may lead to electric socks or fire. Make sure tat all wiring is secured, te specified wires are used, and tat tere is no strain on te terminal connections or wires. Improper connections or securing of wires may result in abnormal eat build-up or fire. Wen wiring te power supply and connecting te remote controller wiring and transmission wiring, position te wires so tat te control box lid can be securely fastened. Improper positioning of te control box lid may result in electric socks, fire or te terminals overeating. If refrigerant gas leaks during installation, ventilate te area immediately. Toxic gas may be produced if te refrigerant gas comes into contact wit fire. After completing installation, ceck for refrigerant gas leakage. Toxic gas may be produced if te refrigerant gas leaks into te room and comes into contact wit a source of fire, suc as a fan eater, stove or cooker. Be sure to switc off te unit before toucing any electrical parts. Do not directly touc refrigerant tat as leaked from refrigerant pipes or oter areas, as tere is a danger of frostbite. Do not allow cildren to climb on te outside unit and avoid placing objects on te unit. Injury may result if te unit becomes loose and falls. Be sure to eart te air conditioner. Do not eart te unit to a utility pipe, ligtning conductor or telepone eart lead. Imperfect earting may result in electric socks or fire. A ig surge current from ligtning or oter sources may cause damage to te air conditioner. Be sure to install an eart leakage breaker. Failure to install an eart leakage breaker may result in electric socks or fire. CAUTION Wile following te instructions in tis installation manual, install drain piping to ensure proper drainage and insulate piping to prevent condensation. Improper drain piping may result in indoor water leakage and property damage. Install te indoor and outdside units, power cord and connecting wires at least meter away from televisions or radios to prevent picture interference and noise. (Depending on te incoming signal strengt, a distance of meter may not be sufficient to eliminate noise.) Remote controller (wireless kit) transmitting distance can be sorter tan expected in rooms wit electronic fluorescent lamps (inverter or rapid start types). Install te indoor unit as far away from fluorescent lamps as possible. Make sure to provide for adequate measures in order to prevent tat te outside unit be used as a selter by small animals. Small animals making contact wit electrical parts can cause malfunctions, smoke or fire. Please instruct te customer to keep te area around te unit clean. Install in a macine room tat is free of moisture. Te unit is designed for indoor use. Do not install te air conditioner in te following locations:. Were tere is a ig concentration of mineral oil spray or vapour (e.g. a kitcen). Plastic parts will deteriorate, parts may fall off and water leakage could result.. Were corrosive gas, suc as sulpurous acid gas, is produced. Corroding of copper pipes or soldered parts may result in refrigerant leakage.. Near macinery emitting electromagnetic radiation. Electromagnetic radiation may disturb te operation of te control system and result in a malfunction of te unit.. Were flammable gas may leak, were tere is carbon fibre or ignitable dust suspensions in te air, or were volatile flammables suc as paint tinner or gasoline are andled. Operating te unit in suc conditions may result in fire. Disposal requirements Dismantling of te unit, treatment of te refrigerant, of oil and of oter parts must be done in accordance wit relevant local and national legislation. CAUTION Te refrigerant R0A requires tat strict precautions be observed for keeping te system clean, dry and tigtly sealed. A.Clean and dry Strict measures must be taken to keep impurities (including SUNISO oil and oter mineral oils as well as moisture) out of te system. B.Tigtly sealed R0A contains no clorine, does not destroy te ozone layer and so does not reduce te eart s protection against armful ultraviolet radiation. R0A will contribute only sligtly to te greenouse effect if released into te atmospere. Terefore, sealing tigtness is particularly important in installation. Carefully read te capter REFRIGERANT PIPING and strictly observe te correct procedures. Since design pressure is.0 MPa or 0 bar (for R0C units:. MPa or bar), te tickness of pipes must be greater tan previously. Since R0A is a mixed refrigerant, te required additional refrigerant must be carged in its liquid state. (If te system is carged wit refrigerant in its gaseous state, due to composition cange, te system will not function normally.) Te indoor unit is designed for R0A use. See te catalogue for indoor unit models tat can be connected. (Normal operation is not possible wen connecting units tat are originally designed for oter refrigerants.). INTRODUCTION Tis installation manual concerns VRV inverters of te Daikin RWEYQ-P series. Tese units are designed for indoor installation and used for cooling and eatpump applications. Te RWEYQ-P units can be combined wit Daikin VRV series indoor units for air conditioning purposes. Te present installation manual describes te procedures for unpacking, installing and connecting te RWEYQ-P units. Installation of te indoor units is not described in tis manual. Always refer to te installation manual supplied wit tese units for teir installation. - Combination Te indoor units can be installed in te following range. Always use appropriate indoor units compatible wit R0A. To lean wic models of indoor units are compatible wit R0A, refer to te product catalogs. SELECTION OF LOCATION Tis unit does not ave specifications for outdoor installation. Te unit must be installed indoors (example: macine room, ) Always install it in a room. (macine room, etc.) Paying attention to te conditions mentioned below, select te place for installation wit a prior approval of customer.. Te foundation is strong enoug to support te weigt of te unit and te floor is flat to prevent vibration and noise generation.. Consider te space required for refrigerant piping work wen installing. Refer to [Necessary Space].. Tere is no danger of fire due to leakage of inflammable gas.. Te piping lengt between te outside unit and te indoor unit may not exceed te allowable piping lengt. 9. REFRIGERANT PIPING.. Locations were te noise of te unit operating will not disturb nearby ouses, etc.. Locations wit airflow and ventilation oles capable of dissipating eat from te macine and were te ambient temperature around te outside unit is between 0 and 0 C and te umidity does not exceed 0%. An inverter air conditioner may cause electronic noise generated from AM broadcasting. Examine were to install te main air conditioner and electric wires, keeping proper distances away from stereo equipment, personal computers, etc. (Refer to figure ). Indoor unit. Personal computer or radio If te electric wave of AM broadcasting is particularly weak, keep distances of m or more and use conduit tubes for power and transmission lines.. Water quality Water containing ig level of foreign materials may cause te corrosion of eat excanger and piping or scale accumulation. Use water satisfying - Water quality.. Cooling tower Use a closed type cooling tower witout fail. (Open type tower cannot be used.). Strainer Install a strainer (an optional accessory) witout fail at te inlet of water piping. (If sands, wastes, rust particles, etc. are mixed in te water circulation system, damage to te plate type eat excanger may be caused by te corrosion of metal materials and clogging of te eat excanger.). Te refrigerant R0A itself is nontoxic, nonflammable and is safe. If te refrigerant sould leak owever, its concentration may exceed te allowable limit depending on room size. Due to tis it could be necessary to take measures against leakage. Refer to te capter CAUTION FOR REFRIGERANT LEAKS.. INSPECTING AND HANDLING THE UNIT At delivery, te package sould be cecked and any damage sould be reported immediately to te carrier claims agent. Wen andling te unit, take into account te following:. Fragile, andle te unit wit care. Keep te unit uprigt in order to avoid compressor damage.. Coose te pat along wic te unit is to be brougt in aead of time.. In order to prevent any damage to te unit during installation, use slings (clot) or patc plates and lift te unit referring to figure.. Lift te unit preferably wit a crane and belts of at least m long.. Use patc plates or clotes were te belt may it te casing in order to prevent te casing from being damaged.. Be sure use te standard supplied accessories and dedicated parts as installation parts. (Refer to figure ). Patc plates or clotes. Belt sling Note Use belt sling of 0mm widt or less wic adequately bears te weigt of te product.. UNPACKING AND PLACING THE UNIT Make sure te area around te macine drains properly by setting up drainage grooves around te foundation. Make sure te unit is installed level on a sufficiently strong base to prevent vibration and noise. Secure te unit to its base using foundation bolts. (Use four commercially available M-type foundation bolts, nuts, and wasers.) Te foundation bolts sould be inserted 0 mm. Fix foundation bolts. Support te unit wit te foundation wic is larger tan te atced area sown in figure. (Refer to figure ). Front side. Position of foundation bolts. Hole for a foundation bolt (φ oles at corners). Avoid suc a foundation were te unit is supported by corner points. Wen installing te unit closely contacting te wall for any unavoidable reason, arrange so tat no vibration from te unit may be transmitted to te wall surface by insulating te vibration using cusions, etc. 0. WATER PIPING WORK Te water pressure resistance of water piping of tis outside unit is.9 MPa. Te pipe connection on te unit is made of stainless steel. Connecting a water pipe made of a material oter tan stainless steel may result in corrosion of te pipe. Take preventive measures as necessary, for example by insulating te connection on te water pipe. Te connection port for water piping is located in te front. Te connection ports for drain piping are located in te front and back. Wen using te back port, cange te cast iron plug from te back to te front and securely close it. Because of indoor use, carry out piping work in suc a way no water may drop on te outer plate. Drain piping sould be sort and ave a slant downwards. Te diameter of drain pipe sould be te same as te diameter of unit connection (/B) or larger. Te diameter of water pipe sould be te same as te diameter of unit connection (-/) or larger. Install an air purge valve in te midway of te water piping to prevent cavitation. After completing te drain piping work, make sure tat te water runs smootly witout any clogging by dust. Do not connect te drain outlet to te water outlet. Install a strainer (an optional accessory) in te inlet of water piping witin a distance of. m from te outside unit. (If sand, waste or rust particles are mixed in te water circulation system, metal materials will become corrosive.) Install insulation up to te base of eat excanger as sown in te figure. Install a gate valve for cemical cleaning in an easy position to andle. Use water pipes complied wit te local and national codes. Run te water pump to flus inside of water piping. Ten, clean te strainer. If tere is a possibility of freezing, take measures to prevent freezing. Tigten securely te connection of water piping and socket wit tigtening torque of 00 N m or less. (If a larger torque is applied, te unit may be damaged.) (Refer to figure ). Air parge. Outlet of water. Inlet of water. Gate valve. Water piping socket. Water piping. Insulation. Heat excanger 9. HANDLING OF THE BRAZED PLATE TYPE HEAT EXCHANGER A brazed plate type eat excanger is used for tis unit. Because its structure is different from a conventional type eat excanger, it must be andled in a different manner. - Wen designing te equipment. Install a strainer (an optional accessory) at te water inlet side adjacent to te outside unit in order to prevent any foreign materials suc as dust, sand, etc. from entering.. Depending on te water quality, scale may stick to te plate type eat excanger. In order to remove tis scale, it is necessary to clean it at a regular interval using cemicals. To tis end, install a gate valve in te water piping. Set up a piping connection port on te piping between tis gate valve and te outside unit for cleaning by cemicals.. For te purpose of cleaning and water drain off from te outside unit (water draining during a long period of non-use in winter, draining upon starting of season-off), install an air discarge plug and a water draining plug at te inlet/outlet ports of water piping. In addition, install an automatic air discarging valve at te top of riser piping or at te top of a portion were air tends to stay.. Independent of te piping inlet of te outside unit, install a cleanable strainer at a portion close to te pump piping inlet. Englis

10 . Carry out complete cooling/termal insulation of water piping and outdoor deumidification. If complete cooling or termal insulation as not been carried out, any damage may be caused during severe winter due to freezing, in addition to termal loss.. Wen you stop operation during nigt or winter, it is necessary to take measures to prevent water related circuits from natural freezing in te area te ambient temperature drops below 0 C (by water drain off, keeping te circulation pump running, warming up by a eater, etc.) Freezing of water related circuits may result in any damage to te plate type eat excanger. Terefore, please take appropriate measures depending on te circumstances of use. (Refer to figure ). Example of piping. Water inlet piping. Strainer (sold separately as an accessory). Air discarge plug (for joint use wit cleaning port). Cleaning device. Strainer for pump. Automatic air discarge valve. Water outlet piping 9. Joint use wit water draining plug 0. Plate type eat excanger. Outside unit - Before starting a test run. Before starting a test run, please make sure tat te piping work as been carried out in a proper manner. Especially, make sure tat te strainer, air discarge valve, automatic water supply valve, expansion tank and cistern are positioned at teir places correctly.. After water as been completely filled in, first run te pump only, and ten make sure tat no air as been caugt in te water circulation system and te water flow rate is correct. If any air as been caugt or te flow rate is not enoug, te plate type eat excanger may freeze. Measure any water pressure loss before and after te outside unit and make sure tat te flow rate is as designed. In case of any abnormal, stop te test run immediately and carry out trouble sooting to resolve te trouble.. Following te installation manual, carry out a test run of te outside unit.. After te test run as been completed, inspect te strainer at te inlet piping of te outside unit. Clean it if it is dirty. - Daily service and maintenance. Please pay attention carefully to te quality of water to be used for te plate type eat excanger in order to prevent corrosion and sticking of scale. Te water to be used for te plate type eat excanger sould ave at least te quality as specified in te table below. Wen using any corrosion prevention agent, scale depressant agent, etc, suc agent sould ave no corrosive features against stainless steel and copper.. Management of cilled water flow rate If te cilled water flow rate is not enoug, it will result in te freezing damage to te plate type eat excanger. Ceck for any clogging of te strainer, any air being caugt, any reduction in te flow rate due to failure of circulation pump by measuring te temperature and pressure differences at te inlet and outlet ports of te plate type eat excanger. If te aged difference in te temperature or pressure as increased beyond te proper range, te flow rate sould ave decreased. Stop te operation and remove te cause before restarting te operation.. Steps to be taken wen a freezing protection device was activated Wen te freezing protection device sould be activated during operation, remove te cause witout fail before restarting te operation. If te freezing protection device as been once activated, a partial freezing as occurred. It may be damaged by freezing due to te drop of flow rate. For tis reason, it is necessary to carry out programmed maintenances at a regular interval in order to prevent te scale from being generated.. Before entering te season for use, carry out te following inspections: ) Conduct a water quality test and make sure tat it is witin te standard. ) Clean te strainer. ) Make sure tat te flow rate is correct. ) Make sure tat te operational conditions (pressure, flow rate, outlet temperature, etc.) are normal. Because te plate type eat excanger as a structure wic does not permit disassembling and cleaning, follow te following procedures for cleaning: ) For maintenance purposes it is required to provide for a connection port on te water inlet and on te water outlet. You must connect a circulation pump inbetween tese connection ports wen cleaning te plate eat excanger wit cemicals. For cleaning te scale in te plate eat excanger it is recommended to use a solution wit % diluted formic, citric, oxalic, acetic or posporic acid. Never use ydrocloric, sulfuric or nitric acid because suc solutions ave a strong corrosive feature. ) Make sure to provide for a stopvalve in front of tat inlet water pipe connection port and for a stopvalve after te outlet water pipe connection port. ) Connect te piping for circulation of cleaning cemicals to te inlet piping of plate type eat excanger. Fill te cleaning solution of 0-0 C for a wile in te plate type eat excanger. Ten, circulate te cleaning solution by a pump for - ours. Te time for cleaning depends on te temperature of cleaning solution or te degree of scale accumulation. Terefore, please watc te cange of te dirtiness (color) of cleaning solution to determine te level of removal of scale. ) After circulating te cleaning solution, discarge te solution from te plate type eat excanger, fill te eat excanger wit a solution of -% sodium ydroxide (NaOH) or sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO ). Circulate tis solution for -0 minutes for neutralization purpose. ) After te process of neutralization as been completed, rinse te inner part of te plate type eat excanger wit care using fres and clean water. ) Wen using any cleaning agent sold in te market, ceck in advance tat suc agent as no corrosive features against stainless steel and copper. ) For details of cleaning metod, ask te manufacturer of related cleaning agent.. After cleaning as been completed, make sure tat te unit can be operated in a normal fasion.. FIELD WIRING All field wiring and components must be installed by a licensed electrician and must comply wit relevant local and national regulations. Te field wiring must be carried out in accordance wit te wiring diagrams and te instructions given below. Be sure to use a dedicated power circuit. Never use a power supply sared by anoter appliance. Do not operate until refrigerant piping work is completed. (If operated before complete te piping work, te compressor may be broken down.) Never remove termistor, sensor or etc. wen connecting power wiring and transmission wiring. (If operated wit termistor, sensor or etc. removed, te compressor may be broken down.) Be sure to install an eart leak detector. (Tis unit uses an inverter, so install te eart leak detector tat be capable of andling ig armonics in order to prevent malfunctioning of te eart leak detector itself.) Tis product ave reversed pase protection detector tat only works wen te product started up. Do not run te unit by sort cutting te protection device (SPH). If tere exists te possibility of reversed pase, lose pase, momentary black out or te power goes on and off wile te product is operating, attac a reversed pase protection circuit locally. Running te product in reversed pase may break te compressor and oter parts. Attac te power wire securely. Introducing power wit a missing N-pase or wit a mistaken N-pase will break te equipment. - Optional parts Note Wen using te adaptor for sequential start, refer to capter Examples. For connection wiring to te central remote controller, refer to te installation manual of te central remote controller. - Power circuit and cable requirements A power circuit (see table below) must be provided for connection of te unit. For details, refer to te equipment design data and tecnical data. Make sure to connect te power source wire to te power source terminal block and to clamp it as sown in figure, capter Field line connection. As tis unit is equipped wit an inverter, installing a pase advancing capacitor will not only deteriorate power factor improvement effect, but also may cause capacitor abnormal eating accident due to ig-frequency waves. Terefore, never install a pase advancing capacitor. Keep power imbalance witin % of te supply rating.. Large imbalance will sorten te life of te smooting capacitor.. As a protective measure, te product will stop operating and an error indication will be made, wen power imbalance exceeds % of te supply rating. Follow te electrical wiring diagram wen carrying out any electrical wiring. Only proceed wit wiring work after blocking off all power. Always ground wires. (In accordance wit national regulations of te pertinent country.) Do not connect te ground wire to gas pipes, sewage pipes, ligtning rods, or telepone ground wires. Gas pipes: can explode or catc fire if tere is a gas leak. Sewage pipes: no grounding effect is possible if ard plastic piping is used. Telepone ground wires and ligtning rods: dangerous wen struck by ligtning due to abnormal rise in electrical potential in te grounding. Tis unit is equipped wit an inverter device. Te eart must be connected in order to eliminate impact of te generated electromagnetic noise on oter devices and to prevent leaked current from being carged on te outer casing of te unit. Eart leak detector wic are especially for protecting groundfaults sould be used in conjunction wit main switc or fuse for use wit wiring. Connect te wire securely using designated wire and fix it wit attaced clamp witout applying external pressure on te terminal parts (terminal for power wiring, terminal for transmission wiring and eart terminal). See field line connection. Never connect te power supply in reversed pase. (Tis product ave reversed pase protection detector. If te detector operate, replace two of te tree pases (L, L and L).) Pass te transmission wiring (low voltage) troug te wire clip.. Retain te power supply wiring, pump operation output (ig voltage) and ground wiring to te bottom of electrical box wit te accessory clamp (B). Do not bundle te power supply jumper wiring. Precautions wen laying power wiring Use crimp-style terminals for connections to te power terminal block. Wen none are available, follow te instructions below. Do not connect wiring of different size to te power terminal block. (Slack in te power wiring may cause abnormal eat.) Wen connecting wiring wic is te same tickness, do as sown in te figure below. Connect samesize wiring to bot sides. For wiring, use te designated power wire and connect firmly, ten secure to prevent outside pressure being exerted on te terminal board. Use an appropriate screwdriver for tigtening te terminal screws. A screwdriver wit a small ead will strip te ead and make proper tigtening impossible. Over-tigtening te terminal screws may break tem. It is forbidden to connect wiring of different size. Cup waser Cut out section Tis setting is done wen switcing between cooling and eating is performed by a switcing remote controller (sold separately as an accessory) installed on te outside unit. Tis setting is done wen te outside units are not started in a sequenced order. Tese settings are done wen te interlocks are connected in a lump-sum manner or wen performing a demand operation by external instruction. Tis setting is done wen making an abnormal display (HJ) on a remote controller wen te interlock contact is OFF (wen te eat source water pump is not operated). A separate adapter (sold separately as an accessory) for external control of an outside unit becomes necessary wen doing a demand operation from an external instruction, setting of cooling and eating troug a centralized remote controller for cooling and eating (sold separately as an accessory) and setting of centralized interlock. 14 9. REFRIGERANT PIPING After completing installation, be sure to open te valve. (See 9-9 Additional refrigerant carge for details) (Operating te unit wit te valve sut will break te compressor.) Use R0A to add refrigerant. All field piping must be installed by a licensed refrigeration tecnician and must comply wit relevant local and national regulations. CAUTION TO BE TAKEN WHEN BRAZING REFRIGERANT PIPING Do not use flux wen brazing copper-to copper refrigerant piping. (Particularly for te HFC refrigerant piping) Terefore, use te pospor copper brazing filler metal (BCuP-: JIS Z, B-Cu9P-0/9: ISO ) wic does not require flux. (Flux as extremely armful influence on refrigerant piping systems. For instance, if te clorine based flux is used, it will cause pipe corrosion or, in particular, if te flux contains fluorine, it will damage te refrigerant oil.) Note Installation tools: Gauge manifold, carge ose, etc. Make sure to use installation tools tat are exclusively used for R0A installations to witstand te pressure and to prevent foreign materials (e.g. mineral oils suc as SUNISO and moisture) from mixing into te system. (Te screw specifications differ for R0A and R0C.) Vacuum pump. Use a -stage vacuum pump wit a non-return valve.. Make sure te pump oil does not flow oppositely into te system wile te pump is not working.. Use a vacuum pump wic can evacuate to 00. kpa (Torr, mmhg). 9- Selection of piping material. Foreign materials inside pipes (including oils for fabrication) must be 0mg/0m or less.. Use te following items for te refrigerant piping. Material : Jointless pospor-deoxidized copper pipe Size : See Example of connection to determine te correct size. Tickness : Select a tickness for te refrigerant piping wic complies wit national and local laws. For R0A, te design pressure is.0 MPa (0-bar). Te minimum tickness of piping according to Japan s Hig- Pressure Gas Safety Law (as of January 00) is sown below.
