Te Safety precautions provide very important points regarding safety. Make sure you follow tem. Wen opening or closing te front panel of te control box, do not let it come into contact wit any of te internal components. efore inspecting te inside of te control box, turn off te power, keep te unit off for at least 10 minutes, and confirm tat te capacitor voltage (inverter main circuit) as dropped to 20 V or less. (It takes about 10 minutes to discarge electricity after te power supply is turned off.) ontrol box ouses ig temperature parts. e well careful even after turning off te power source. Perform te service after disconnecting te fan board connector (NINV) and te inverter board connector (N1). (To plug or unplug connectors, ceck tat te outdoor unit fan is not rotating and tat te voltage of capacitor in te main circuit is 20 V or below. Te capacitor may collect a carge and cause an electric sock wen te outdoor unit fan rotates in windy conditions. Refer to te wiring nameplate for details.) To connect wiring to T7, ceck tat te voltage is 20 V or below. Reconnect te connector (NINV) back to te fan board and reconnect te connector (N1) back to te inverter board after servicing. If te air conditioner must be repaired consult te dealer, contractor or qualified Refrigeration Engineer. - If te unit is repaired improperly, water leakage, electric sock, or fi re may result. If te supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by te manufacturer, its service agent or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a azard. o not touc te eat excanger fins. - Improper andling may result in injury. If refrigerant gas leaks during installation work, ventilate te room. - If te refrigerant gas comes into contact wit a fl ame, poisonous gases will be released. Install te air conditioner according to tis Installation Manual. - If te unit is installed improperly, water leakage, electric sock, or fi re may result. Have all electric work done by a licensed electrician according to te Electric acility Engineering Standard, te Wire Regulations in eac area and te instructions given in tis manual and always use a dedicated power supply. - If te power source capacity is inadequate or electric work is performed improperly, electric sock and fi re may result. Securely install te outdoor unit terminal cover (panel). - If te terminal cover (panel) is not installed properly, dust or water may enter te outdoor unit and fi re or electric sock may result. Wen installing and moving te air conditioner to anoter site, do not carge it wit a refrigerant different from te refrigerant specified on te unit. - If a different refrigerant or air is mixed wit te original refrigerant, te refrigerant cycle may malfunction and te unit may be damaged. If te air conditioner is installed in a small room, measures must be taken to prevent te refrigerant concentration from exceeding te safety limit if te refrigerant sould leak. - onsult te dealer regarding te appropriate measures to prevent te safety limit from being exceeded. Sould te refrigerant leak and cause te safety limit to be exceeded, azards due to lack of oxygen in te room could result.

3 Wen moving and reinstalling te air conditioner, consult te dealer or an autorized tecnician. - If te air conditioner is installed improperly, water leakage, electric sock, or fi re may result. fter completing installation work, make sure tat refrigerant gas is not leaking. - If te refrigerant gas leaks and is exposed to a fan eater, stove, oven, or oter eat source, it may generate noxious gases. o not reconstruct or cange te settings of te protection devices. - If te pressure switc, termal switc, or oter protection device is sorted or operated forcibly, or parts oter tan tose specifi ed by Mitsubisi Electric are used, fi re or explosion may result. To dispose of tis product, consult your dealer. Te installer and system specialist sall secure safety against leakage according to local regulation or standards. - oose te appropriate wire size and te switc capacities for te main power supply described in tis manual if local regulations are not available. Pay special attention to te place of installation, suc as a basement, etc. were refrigeration gas can accumulate, since refrigerant is eavier tan te air. or outdoor units tat allow outside air intake to te indoor unit, te installation site must be carefully cosen to ensure only clean air can enter te room. - irect exposure to outdoor air may ave armful effects on people or food. ildren sould be supervised to ensure tat tey do not play wit te appliance Precautions for devices tat use R410 refrigerant aution: o not use existing refrigerant piping. - Te old refrigerant and refrigerant oil in te existing piping contains a large amount of clorine wic may cause te refrigerant oil of te new unit to deteriorate. - R410 is a ig-pressure refrigerant and can cause te existing piping to burst. Use refrigerant piping made of posporus deoxidized copper and copper alloy seamless pipes and tubes. In addition, be sure tat te inner and outer surfaces of te pipes are clean and free of azardous sulpur, oxides, dust/dirt, saving particles, oils, moisture, or any oter contaminant. - ontaminants on te inside of te refrigerant piping may cause te refrigerant oil to deteriorate. Store te piping to be used during installation indoors and keep bot ends of te piping sealed until just before brazing. (Store elbows and oter joints in a plastic bag.) - If dust, dirt, or water enters te refrigerant cycle, deterioration of te oil and compressor failure may result. pply only a small amount of ester oil, eter oil, or alkyl benzene to flare connections (for indoor unit). - Infi ltration of a large amount of mineral oil may cause te refrigerant oil to deteriorate. Use liquid refrigerant to fill te system. - If gas refrigerant is used to fi ll te system, te composition of te refrigerant in te cylinder will cange and performance may drop. o not use a refrigerant oter tan R If anoter refrigerant (R22, etc.) is mixed wit R410, te clorine in te refrigerant may cause te refrigerant oil to deteriorate. Use a vacuum pump wit a reverse flow ceck valve. - Te vacuum pump oil may fl ow back into te refrigerant cycle and cause te refrigerant oil to deteriorate. o not use te following tools tat are used wit conventional refrigerants. (Gauge manifold, carge ose, gas leak detector, reverse flow ceck valve, refrigerant carge base, refrigerant recovery equipment) - If te conventional refrigerant and refrigerant oil are mixed in te R410, te refrigerant may deteriorate. - If water is mixed in te R410, te refrigerant oil may deteriorate. - Since R410 does not contain any clorine, gas leak detectors for conventional refrigerants will not react to it. o not use a carging cylinder. - Using a carging cylinder may cause te refrigerant to deteriorate. e especially careful wen managing te tools. - If dust, dirt, or water gets into te refrigerant cycle, te refrigerant may deteriorate efore installation aution: o not install te unit were combustible gas may leak. - If te gas leaks and accumulates around te unit, an explosion may result. o not use te air conditioner were food, pets, plants, precision instruments, or artwork are kept. - Te quality of te food, etc. may deteriorate. o not use te air conditioner in special environments. - Oil, steam, sulfuric smoke, etc. can signifi cantly reduce te performance of te air conditioner or damage its parts. Wen installing te unit in a ospital, communication station, or similar place, provide sufficient protection against noise. - Inverter equipment, private power generator, ig-frequency medical equipment, or radio communication equipment may cause te air conditioner to operate erroneously, or fail to operate. On te oter and, te air conditioner may affect suc equipment by creating noise tat disturbs medical treatment or image broadcasting. o not install te unit on or over tings tat are subject to water damage. - Wen te room umidity exceeds 80% or wen te drain pipe is clogged, condensation may drip from te indoor unit. Perform collective drainage work togeter wit te outdoor unit, as required efore installation (relocation) - electrical work aution: Ground te unit. - o not connect te ground wire to gas or water pipes, ligtning rods, or telepone ground lines. Improper grounding may result in electric sock. Never connect in reverse pases. Never connect te Power Line L1, L2, and L3 to Terminal N. - If te unit is miss wired, wen power is supplied, some electrical parts will be damaged. Install te power cable so tat tension is not applied to te cable. - Tension may cause te cable to break and generate eat and cause a fi re. Install a leak circuit breaker for an inverter, as required. - If a leak circuit breaker is not installed, electric sock may result. Use power line cables of sufficient current carrying capacity and rating. - ables tat are too small may leak, generate eat, and cause a fi re. Use only a circuit breaker and fuse of te specified capacity. - fuse or circuit breaker of a larger capacity, or te use of a substitute simple steel or copper wire may result in a general unit failure or fi re. If a large electric current flows due to malfunction or faulty wiring, eart-leakage breakers on te unit side and on te upstream side of te power supply system may bot operate. epending on te importance of te system, separate te power supply system or take protective coordination of breakers. o not touc te electrical parts wit bare ands wile te unit is in operation or immediately after operation. - oing so may result in burns. o not was te air conditioner units. - Wasing tem may cause an electric sock. e careful tat te installation base is not damaged by long use. - If te damage is left uncorrected, te unit may fall and cause personal injury or property damage. Install te drain piping according to tis Installation Manual to ensure proper drainage. Wrap termal insulation around te pipes to prevent condensation. - Improper drain piping may cause water leakage causing damage to furniture and oter possessions. e very careful about transporting te product. - One person sould not carry te product. Its weigt is in excess of 20 kg. - Some products use PP bands for packaging. o not use any PP bands as a means of transportation. It is dangerous. - o not touc te eat excanger fi ns. oing so may cut your fi ngers. - Wen transporting te outdoor unit, support it at te specifi ed positions on te unit base. lso support te outdoor unit at four points so tat it cannot slip sideways. Safely dispose of te packing materials. - Packing materials, suc as nails and oter metal or wooden parts, may cause stabs or oter injuries. - Tear apart and trow away plastic packaging bags so tat cildren will not play wit tem. If cildren play wit a plastic bag wic as not been torn apart, tey face te risk of suffocation. Wen te power is turned on, te compressor is energized even wile it is not operating. - efore turning on te power, disconnect all power supply wires from te compressor terminal block, and measure te insulation resistance of te compressor. - eck te compressor for a ground fault. If te insulation resistance is 1.0 MΩ or below, connect all power supply wires to te compressor and turn on te power to te outdoor unit. (Te liquid refrigerant in te compressor will evaporate by energizing te compressor.) 3

4 1.5. efore starting te test run aution: Turn on te power at least 12 ours before starting operation. - Starting operation immediately after turning on te main power switc can result in irreversible damage to internal parts. Keep te power switc turned on during te operational season. Make sure of te pase order of power supply and voltage between eac pase. o not touc te switces wit wet fingers. - Toucing a switc wit wet fi ngers can result in an electric sock. o not touc te refrigerant pipes during and immediately after operation. - uring and immediately after operation, te refrigerant pipes may be ot or cold, depending on te condition of te refrigerant fl owing troug te refrigerant piping, compressor, and oter refrigerant cycle parts. Your ands may suffer burns or frostbite if you touc te refrigerant pipes. o not operate te air conditioner wit te panels and guards removed. - Rotating, ot, or ig-voltage parts can cause injuries. o not turn off te power immediately after stopping operation. - lways wait at least 5 minutes before turning off te power. Oterwise, drainage water leakage or mecanical failure of sensitive parts may occur. o not touc te surface of te compressor during servicing. - If te unit is connected to a supply and not running, te crank case eater located at te base of te compressor may still be operating. 2. bout te product Tis unit uses R410-type refrigerant Piping for systems using R410 may be different from tat for systems using conventional refrigerant because te design pressure in systems using R410 is iger. Refer to te ata ook for more information. Some of te tools and equipment used for installation wit systems tat use oter types of refrigerant cannot be used wit te systems using R410. Refer to te ata ook for more information. o not use te existing piping, as it contains clorine, wic is found in conventional refrigerating macine oil and refrigerant. Tis clorine will deteriorate te refrigerant macine oil in te new equipment. 7 2 In case of collective installation and continuous installation Wen multiple units are installed adjacent to eac oter, secure enoug space to allow for air circulation and passageways between groups of units as sown in te figures. * Leave bot sides of eac group of units open. s wit single installation, if te wall eigt exceeds te eigt limit, widen te space in te front and te back of a given group of units by te amount tat exceeds te limit (labeled <> in te figure). If tere is a wall at bot te front and te rear of te unit, install up to six units (tree units : P500) consecutively in te side direction and provide a space of 1000 mm or more as inlet space/passage space for eac six units (tree units : P500). Wen using cusion pads, be sure tat te full widt of te unit is covered. Te projecting lengt of te ancor bolt sould be less tan 30 mm. Post-installed ancor bolts (i.e., bolts not fi rmly cemented into te base) are not compatible wit tis product unless fi xing brackets are fi rst mounted on te four locations (six locations: P500). In abnormally ars environments suc as cold and/or windy areas, suffi cient countermeasures to guard against excessive wind and snow sould be taken to ensure te unit's correct operation. Wen te unit is expected to operate in cooling mode in conditions under 10, in snowy areas, in environments subject to strong winds or rain, install air inlet and outlet ducting as sown in [ig ]. Note: 1. Heigt of frame base for snow damage prevention (H) sall be twice as ig as expected snowfall. Widt of frame base sall not exceed tat of te unit. Te frame base sall be made of angle steel, etc., and designed so tat snow and wind slip troug te structure. (If frame base is too wide, snow will be accumulated on it.) 2. Refrigerant piping installation Te pipe is connected via a terminal-branc type connection in wic refrigerant piping from te outdoor unit is branced at te terminal and is connected to eac of te indoor units. Te metod of pipe connection is as follows: fl are connection for te indoor units, gas pipes and liquid pipes for outdoor units, brazed connection. Note tat te branced sections are brazed. Warning: o not use refrigerant oter tan te type indicated in te manuals provided wit te unit and on te nameplate. - oing so may cause te unit or pipes to burst, or result in explosion or fi re during use, during repair, or at te time of disposal of te unit. - It may also be in violation of applicable laws. - MITSUISHI ELETRI ORPORTION cannot be eld responsible for malfunctions or accidents resulting from te use of te wrong type of refrigerant. lways use extreme care to prevent te refrigerant gas from leaking wile using fire or flame. If te refrigerant gas comes in to contact wit a flame from any source, suc as a gas stove, it breaks down and generates a poisonous gas wic can cause gas poisoning.
