1 No. 2 WHAT S NEW ON SECAL Resana-Italy NEWS 2008 PLUS 3000 EVOLUTION AND SOFTWARE EPL SUPERVISOR KIT DOUBLE WOOD SENSORS HEARTH / SURFACE MICROPROCESSOR PLUS 3000 EVOLUTION It is supplied with all accessories such as probes cables, pin sensors, cellulose plates, temperature sensors, actuators card, wood sensor amplifier (8-32 sensors). The microprocessor PLUS 3000 is available in the following versions: BASE, PROFESSIONAL, EXPERT, EVOLUTION. The device is equipped with a clear backlit graphic display. It includes the following options: proportional, PC, 24 phases, ADVANCED DRYING functions with energy management (these two last ones need the inverter and anemometers). Drying, heating, conditioning or equalizing phases can be included or excluded as preferred. The EMC sensitivity has been increased up to 25%. Simultaneous and without any interference measurement of hearth and surface wood moisture content; thus allowing a precise analysis of water movement inside the board. Extremely useful in presence of hard and thick wood boards such as 50 mm and over thick oak. The system shows the average of hearth and surface wood probes while the drying process is driven by the average value of hearth probes. 2 ANEMOMETER AND CLIMATIC STATION ELECTRIC PANEL WITH PC TOUCH SCREEN 17 They ensure a better drying quality by continuously monitoring the air flow, in terms of air speed and air turbulence through the stacks, recognizing the right and regular air flow. Such rigorous air control makes the air flow uniform through the stacks in both directions of rotation, thus allowing energy savings of 30%, but in some cases also up to 50%. The kit consists of two climatic stations/anemometers and relevant software. 3 OLFLON PROFESSIONAL CABLES: SPECIAL INDESTRUCTIBLE CABLES WITH STAINLESS STEEL PLUGS They allow a wood moisture content measurement of much higher quality compared with classic cables; this special OLFLON cable is indestructible, cut-proof and crush-proof. The special stainless steel plugs are rust and scale proof. ADVANCED DRYING FUNCTIONS Air speed and drying control Drying control based on air speed parameter calculated phase by phase. When a desired value of air speed is selected, the system keeps it regardless of how the wood is loaded into the kiln. A typical example of this fact is the frequent wrong thickness of the stickers; using this function the system automatically adjusts the air speed, thus always assuring the desired drying quality. SPECIAL PROFESSIONAL GRAPHITE CELLULOSE PLATES FOR A FAST AND RELIABLE EMC MEASUREMENT It allows EMC measurement with higher reliability for higher drying quality. With softwood this special cellulose plates can be used for several drying processes. Estimated calculation of drying time REMOTE CONTROL The operator has access to manual operation of various actuators (heating, spraying, vents and fans) directly from PC and not, as usual, from the electric panel of the kiln, sometimes located far from the control room. Manual operation can be done when the drying program is working. It continuously estimates the date of the end of the process and residual time. The system is based on a complex formula always up-to dated during the whole drying process. Useful in presence or several drying kilns to program the various drying processes. 4 Autopilot The operator can set the minimum and maximum moisture value which the wood has to loose per day per each drying phase. The system automatically adjusts the EMC and temperature value avoiding any drying defects or situations of deadlock. IN /OUT temperature of heating fluid The system shows the temperature of the heating fluid. The operator can choose when (time intervals) the system has to check the process and make eventual corrections. It shows the temperature, or it can be configured to calculate the real time consumption in Kcal/h. It allows also to verify if the hot water arrives in the kiln. FEEDBACK ACTUATORS The system PLUS 3000 is constantly able to communicate with the chimneys, heating valves, spraying valves and boiler plant. As you can see in the picture above, in phase 5 (between 0,5 and 1,0 points AWM) the system will shift of 0,2 AWM set value and of 0,0 temperature set value. After 8 hours it will repeat the control and will change again for the next 0,2 AWM value and 0,0 temperature value. The maximum values that the system can correct itself (and this is a security) in that phase are: 3,0 for EMC and 5,0 for temperature. After sending an input, the system receives a feedback signal from these actuators and checks that the input has been carried out. Published by SECAL srl on 01 st September, All rights reserved. 4

5 ENERGY MANAGEMENT The microprocessor PLUS 3000 can directly communicate with ABB inverter 550 series and it can check if really all fans are running, how much the energy consumption is and if any problems occur. HOT WATER FLOW METERS The system PLUS 3000 is able to communicate directly with such special valves and to calculate, at any time and for every process, the energy consumption. EQUALIZING PHASE It allows the drying process to be stopped only when the selected WMC probes are within the fixed range. I.e.: 10% +-10%, it means within the range of 9 and 11 % WMC. DRYING CYCLE MANAGEMENT Setting of the precise boards thickness and wood density and conduction according to the average value: of the selected probes (standard procedure), of the high probes (new) and of the highest probe (new). This means that even if during the process the value of the highest probe changes, the system recognizes it and conducts the processes accordingly. Main features: Detailed analysis for various actuators: instant power, energy consumption and relevant costs. Detailed analysis according to the different times: total energy consumption and total energy cost. Total electric and thermal energy costs. 6 AUTOMATIC SYSTEM FOR HEAT TREATMENT OF WOOD PACKAGING MATERIAL ACCORDING TO ISPM 15/FAO STANDARDS. It is a specific software for thermal treatment according to International standards ISPM 15/FAO which define the guidelines for regulating wood packaging material in international trade. The direct management of the certified devices, the automatic printing of the sterilization results (diagrams) and the intuitive and simple wizard start-up, allow easy use also for inexperienced operators. THERMAL PLANT MONITORING SOFTWARE PLUS BOILER PRO It is a software dedicated to the monitoring and supervision of thermal plants. It includes 8 temperature sensors for checking the delivery and return water temperatures, smokes temperature, as well as a climatic probe. It is supplied with easy alarms system which informs the operator in case one of the probes goes out from the pre-set range. 7 HIGH PRESSURE SPRAYING SYSTEM This particularly efficient system allows an extremely good spraying, even at low temperatures. The system consists on a high pressure water pump working at an adjustable pressure till 120 bar and special ceramic/stainless steel spraying nozzles. SMS MESSAGING SYSTEM Such device manages both the automatic sending of SMS in case of alarms and the sending back of replying SMS in case information are required. INTERNET CONNECTION WITH FIX OR MOBILE NET The effect is similar to what can be achieved with a high pressure washer, but with much higher flow. Essential in case the operator needs to reach EMC values over 20% with temperatures of C. SOFTWARE UPGRADING VIA INTERNET. To be always updated. The Internet pen drive TIM Onda MT505 UP 7.2/ HSUPA or VODAFONE is the first High - Speed modem capable to transmit data up to 2 Mbps and receives data up to 7.2 Mbps. In case of USB format it can be used on operating systems Windows XP, Vista (32bit). This accessory is directly supplied by TIM or VODAFONE with a specific contract. It is compatible with our system since it has been tested by Secal. PDA/SMARTPHONE CONTROL It is possible to connect the kilns PC directly from a palmtop or Blackberry equipped with Windows mobile 6.0 software.
