2 Choosing the right fan size PLUS 5 YEAR To choose the right fan size, measure the floor area of the room where the ceiling fan will be installed and look up the suggested fan size from the guidelines below. Enclosed Outdoor Installation If the fan is to be installed in a covered outdoor area, the fan should be placed at least 1.5 metres from the edge of the roof or eaves of the enclosure.
