10 WASHING MACHINE Series GWH / GWM / GWN WARRANTY The warranty covers a period of twelve months, from the date of purchase of the appliance or of an integral part thereof. The warranty consists in replacing any failed parts for ascertained manufacturing causes and it is applied directly by your supplier. The workforce along with shipping and packaging costs as well as transport risks shall always be borne by the purchaser. According to the warranty conditions, damaged parts must be returned carriage paid after communicating all data regarding the model, serial number and defect of the appliance on which the component was assembled. The warranty does not apply to appliances damaged due to negligence, incorrect connections, unsuitable installation, failure to comply with assembly or user instructions, and, in any case, altered by unauthorised personnel. Moreover, the warranty does not apply if the serial number has been changed, deleted, removed or is unknown. The warranty does not cover the following material: Parts subject to normal wear such as belts, bearings, springs, shock absorbers. Solenoid valve membranes, gaskets and rubber parts in general. Electric and electronic components, such as motor, coils, contactors, resistors, circuit boards, inverters, etc. IDENTIFICATION 10

11 DESCRIPTION OF THE MANUAL RECIPIENTS The instructions for use and maintenance are designed for the people in charge of using and managing the appliance and the technician enabled to perform installation and maintenance procedures. Here, reference is made to a correct use of the appliance, with a veiw to maintaining the functional characteristics and quality thereof unchanged over time. All information and warnings on proper use and maintenance in total safety are also provided. SUPPLY AND STORAGE The instructions for use and maintenance are provided in hard copy, and attached to the packaging with an adhesive envelope. All additional documentation (e.g. pneumatic and electrical diagrams, sub-suppliers manuals) is attached to this instruction manual. Keep this manual with the equipment, so that it can be easily consulted by the operator. The instructions are crucial for safety, therefore: They must be kept intact (in all their parts) If they are lost or damaged, a copy must be immediately requested They must follow the appliance until disposal (even in case of transfer, sale, hire, rent, etc...). The attached manuals are an integral part of this documentation and the same recommendations/prescriptions as those contained in this manual apply. DESCRIPTION OF THE MANUAL IMPORTANT! Read these instructions for use and maintenance before proceeding with the installation and use of the appliance. The instructions are also available on the website of the Manufacturer. UPDATES If the appliance needs any changes or functional replacements, the instructions review or update shall be borne by the Manufacturer. The Manufacturer is responsible for delivering the update instructions. The user also has the responsibility to make sure that if this document undergoes changes by the Manufacturer, only the updated versions of the instructions for use and maintenance are actually available at the points of use. LANGUAGE The original manual has been drawn up in Italian. Any translations into additional languages must be made from the original instructions. The Manufacturer shall be responsible for the information contained in the original instructions. 13 GLOSSARY OF THE TERMS USED To facilitate the understanding of the manual, the following are some definitions of the terms used. 15 DEFINING THE OPERATOR QUALIFICATIONS Operators are people responsible for the installation, operation, adjustment, and implementation of the appliance routine maintenance and cleaning (each within the limits of the tasks assigned). They are classified as: Term INFORMED PERSON ENABLED TECHNICIAN USER Definition Person adequately advised or supervised by a trained person in such a way as to be able to perceive risks and prevent dangers potentially posed by the appliance operation or maintenance. Trained, experienced person able to perceive risks and prevent dangers that may derive from interacting with the appliance. This person is trained to operate the machine with reduced safety devices or partial failure. A person who: Is in charge of using the appliance Has read and understood all the relevant parts of this manual Is able to perform routine maintenance and clean the appliance GENERAL INFORMATION Operators must always adhere to: The limits of their duties The warnings on the appliance safety plates The service procedures provided for SAFETY GENERAL WARNINGS IMPORTANT! Read these instructions for use and maintenance before proceeding with the installation, use and maintenance of the appliance. IMPORTANT! Keep this identification and warning manual near the appliance for future reference. Comply with the regulations in force in the appliance installation country. The appliance must only be used by trained persons. Read instructions before attempting to operate the appliance. Improper use of the appliance may cause a risk of fire, electric shock or serious body injuries and/or death, and serious damage to the appliance. Any other use that is not explicitly indicated in this manual must be considered dangerous. The Manufacturer cannot be held liable for damage deriving from any improper use, or in any case not taken into account in this manual. 15

16 WASHING MACHINE Series GWH / GWM / GWN The appliance can be used by children and people with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience or necessary knowledge, provided they are supervised or have received instructions for the safe use of the appliance and understand the dangers associated with it. Children must not play with the appliance. Cleaning and maintenance meant to be performed by the user must not be performed by unsupervised children. The safety standards for operating personnel, contained in the instructions, must be printed and made available in a visible place near the appliance. The appliance has been designed for washing fabrics. Other objects can damage the appliance and cause damage or injury. The manufacturer is not responsible for damage to fabrics that are cleaned with an inadequate washing method. If the appliance is used for special applications, follow the instructions and warnings to avoid personal injury. The appliance must be installed according to instructions. Unloading, loading, and connections must be performed by the manufacturer's qualified employees and/or authorised personnel, following the instructions given in this instruction manual in accordance with local regulations. The existing rules for connection to the local electricity network (TT, TN, IT,...) must be complied with. It may not always be possible to connect systems in the standard version to the IT electricity networks Contact the Manufacturer. All types of appliances are manufactured according to the Directive on Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC). They can be used only in the spaces corresponding to the appliance class of electromagnetic compatibility (conform at least to Class A - industrial environment). For safety reasons, please comply with the minimum safe distance from electrical or sensitive electronic systems. GENERAL INFORMATION Do not change the setting of the frequency inverter parameters. This can cause serious injury, fire, damage, etc. During transport and storage operations do not exert excessive pressure on the packaging as the machine components located along the packaging edges may be damaged. Do not start the appliance if the transport brackets applied to the drum have not been removed (only for "High Spin" washing machines). Use only copper conductors. The appliance must be connected to a power supply circuit to which no lighting units or general use equipment are not connected. 16

17 Any installation changes must be approved by the Manufacturer. Otherwise, the manufacturer will not be responsible for any damage to the appliance and/or injury to operators. The drum of the washing machine may contain residues of products used during the production process. These residues may cause stains on the laundry. Therefore, at least 1 hot washing cycle with old rags must be performed before washing the regular laundry. During use, cleaning and maintenance, do not get close to the moving parts of the appliance (motor, belts, fans) with body parts or tools. The use of hypochlorite causes corrosion that may cause breakage of the appliance components. GENERAL INFORMATION The appliance warranty does not cover damage caused by the use of chlorine. IMPORTANT! Incorrect amounts of detergent or additives during the washing cycle may reduce the durability and performance of the appliance. Make sure that in the place of installation of the appliance there is no possibility that the latter is exposed to direct or indirect water jets. The appliance has not been designed for operation in in explosive atmospheres and/or with such products. Do not expose the appliance to the elements, excessively high or low temperatures and humidity. Mark the danger zone in the laundry room and hinder access when the appliance is in operation. Keep the surface of the appliance and the surrounding area clean. Keep the appliance away from flammable materials. The appliance has been designed for washing fabrics according to the directions on the labels thereof. Do not wash laundry already cleaned, washed, damp or stained with petrol, detergents for dry cleaning or other flammable or explosive substances, as they release vapours that may cause fires or explosions. These fabrics must first be hand washed and then left to dry. Do not add petrol, detergents for dry cleaning or other flammable and/or explosive substances in the washing bath. These substances release vapours that may cause fires or explosions. 17

18 WASHING MACHINE Series GWH / GWM / GWN If the appliance is not in use for two or more weeks, hydrogen may form inside it, i.e. in the hot water system. Hydrogen gas is explosive. Open the taps and let the hot water run for a few minutes before using the appliance. Do not smoke or use an open flame during this operation. Do not tamper with the controls of the appliance and do not ignore the safety warnings. In case of danger, turn off the main switch and/or other emergency disconnecting devices. Do not open the lid of the detergent dispenser when the machine is in operation. Liquid splashes can cause severe burns. Do not use the appliance in case of broken or missing parts, and/or with lids open. Do not use the appliance until the fixed guards have not been positioned correctly. The appliance must not be stored, installed or exposed to the elements, low or high temperature and humidity levels. Do not wet the washing machine. Regularly check the operation of the door locking mechanism. Disconnect the power supply, turn off the water and steam supply before performing cleaning and maintenance, as well as at the end of each working day. Steam or hot air can leak from the vent on the rear of the appliance. Do not obstruct the slot but protect it adequately. GENERAL INFORMATION Do not repair, replace parts of the appliance or attempt any intervention unless specifically recommended in this manual and/or if you do not have the skills to perform them. Only qualified personnel may disassemble the appliance for maintenance. Assembly and adjustment must be carried out by qualified technicians, authorised by the Manufacturer. Incorrect installation and improper adjustment may create hazardous conditions. Any water or steam leak must be repaired immediately. Should problems or faults occur, contact the Manufacturer or the authorised Service Centre. The Manufacturer reserves the right to change the manuals without notice. 18

19 In the case in which the appliance operates in self-service laundries, an emergency stop device must be installed inside the laundry room. The emergency stop device must be positioned in a visible place, accessible to all users. For installation, please refer to standard EN According to it, the "Manufacturer/Installer" must ensure that there are enough devices so that at least one is visible from any location within the operator access area, 2 m away from the machine, and that each device must be located within 8 m from the operator workstations. If this device consists of an emergency stop button, it must be positioned at a height between 700 mm and 1700 mm above the ground or work platform. In case of replacement of parts of the appliance, use original spare parts or equivalent ones approved by the Manufacturer. To minimise the risk of fire, electric shock and injury, the appliance must be properly earthed. GENERAL INFORMATION Even if the main switch of the appliance is set to "OFF", the power supply clamps of the switch are always live. Wait at least 10 minutes before performing maintenance on the device after disconnection from power. Before performing maintenance on the inverter, check that the residual voltage thereof is less than 30Vdc. In the case where the safety door lock does not work, do not use the appliance until the lock has been fixed. Do not remove the safety signs applied to the appliance. Observe the signs to avoid personal injury. Maintain the safety system signs legible. The connection of the appliance must be made using the supplied hose assemblies. Do not use old hose assemblies. Pay particular attention to use and maintenance operations, especially for appliances that routinely treat fabrics from facilities where there is a strong presence of bacteria (hospitals, nursing homes and similar). IMPORTANT! Use original spare parts supplied by the Manufacturer. See the Technical Appendix for ordering. 19

20 WASHING MACHINE Series GWH / GWM / GWN OBLIGATIONS Only allow properly trained personnel to operate on the appliance. Do not use the appliance improperly, i.e. for uses other than those specified in the "Intended Use" paragraph. Do not allow the appliance to be used by children, people with limited physical and mental abilities, and/or personnel not yet trained, without proper supervision. Do not remove or by-pass safety devices. Never use water jets directly or indirectly on the appliance. Do not run the appliance if it has defective or missing parts, or if the side panels have been removed. PROHIBITIONS Do not touch the washing machine with wet or damp hands or feet. Do not use the washing machine barefoot. Do not leave the appliance exposed to weather agents (rain, sea salt, etc...). Do not smoke close to the washing machine during use. Do not touch the water or steam loading pipes even when the appliance is not running. Do not wash garments that carry the "hand wash only" or relative symbol care label. Do not use hypochlorite (bleach), as it may oxidise some parts of the appliance (electric, electronic, or metallic). Do not expose the appliance to the elements, excessively high or low temperatures and humidity. Do not store flammable materials near the appliance. Do not add petrol, detergents for dry cleaning or other flammable or explosive substances in the washing bath. These substances release vapours that may cause fires or explosions. 21 RESIDUAL RISKS Safety has been integrated, as far as possible, in the appliance design and construction. Therefore, the operators must be protected against residual risks especially during maintenance, installation, and cleaning operations. Pay attention to its temperature. B RISK OF BURNING Do not touch the steam intake pipe (A), the hot water intake pipe (B) and the discharge pipe (C), as they may reach high temperatures. The steam intake pipes must be suitably insulated and protected. A C RISK OF FIRE Do not run a spin cycle with dry laundry. GENERAL INFORMATION RISK OF FIRE BIOHAZARD Do not use the appliance to treat fibres soaked or contaminated with flammable substances, such as oil, grease, or fuels. If the appliance is not used for a few days, bacteria or micro-organisms harmful for your health may settle in the humid areas. Pay special attention to use and maintenance operations, especially for those appliances that usual treat fabrics coming from structures in which the presence of bacteria is strong (hospitals, nursing homes, and similar). 22

23 Residual risk Provision Picture RISK OF POISONING AND INTOXICATION RISK OF EXPLOSION Pay special attention not to mix detergents, soaps, or other chemical substances used to remove dirt from the treated fabric in the same washing bath or in the intake pipes. In fact, chemical reactions may result from reagents capable of developing dangerous liquids or gases for human health or capable of affecting the appliance functional parts. Hydrogen or explosive gas may form inside water intake pipes if these are not used for a long time. Open the taps and let the water run for a few minutes before using the appliance. The appliance has been designed and manufactured to operate in safe conditions if: it is used within the limits described in this manual; procedures described in this manual are adhered to; routine maintenance is carried out at intervals and with the methods indicated in this manual; extraordinary maintenance is carried out promptly in case of necessity; safety devices are not removed and/or bypassed. Please follow the washing instructions on the fabric labels. The manufacturer is not liable for damage to fabrics caused by washing procedures other than those described in this manual. IMPROPER, REASONABLY PREDICTABLE USE The following are reasonably improper uses: Washing and/or spinning animals. Washing and/or spinning materials other than those specified in the contract of sale. Using fabrics containing traces of stony and/or sandy materials. 26

27 Use in environments subject to atmospheric agents (and system exposure to lightning, and brackish or salty environments). Use in environments with a high risk of fire and/or explosion. Use in environments subject to electromagnetic disturbances. The use of the appliance for performance other than that specified, is considered "improper use". Any other use needs prior authorisation in writing by the Manufacturer. In the absence of such written consent, use is considered "improper"; therefore, the Manufacturer disclaims any liability with regard to possible damage to property or people, and considers invalid any kind of warranty. Do not install and use the appliance in an environment that can create an explosive atmosphere inside the machine. GENERAL DESCRIPTION NOISE During operating cycles, the noise to which the personnel involved is exposed does not exceed 70 db. The actual noise level of the appliance installed at a site during operation in a production process is different from that detected, since noise is influenced by some factors such as: Type and characteristics of the site Duration of exposure Other adjacent appliances in operation IMPORTANT! It is the user's responsibility to take relevant preventive and protective measures, in accordance with the law governing the appliance installation and use country. VIBRATIONS The vibrations from the appliance are such that a strength check (carried out by a competent person) of the floor on which the appliance rests is recommended. Excessive vibration can be caused by or cause a mechanical failure. In order to avoid jeopardising the safety of the appliance and operators, promptly contact the Authorised After-Sales Centre. 27

28 WASHING MACHINE Series GWH / GWM / GWN GENERAL DESCRIPTION The appliance structure consists of: A moving part, including the steel drum, mechanical transmission with pulley system, motor, springs, shock absorbers (springs and shock absorbers are only available in the GWH version). a fixed part, including a structural frame, insulating panels and locking, control panels and accessories. In the front part there is a loading mouth that allows loading and unloading laundry from the washing drum, and the appliance control panel. In the upper part there are four detergent dispensers, two for powder detergent and two for liquid detergent respectively. At the rear there are the connections for the water and steam (if any) inlets, and the electrical connection. The appliance tank is hydraulically sealed, so as to prevent liquid from escaping. It is equipped with an electrically driven drain through which the washing bath is conveyed to the mains or a recovery tank. There is an overflow vent through which any liquid excess is conveyed to the drain. A safety data sheet is available with the machine to safeguard for the operator's safety. The appliance can be automated by installing an external liquid soap dispenser and a pump conveying liquid soap inside the appliance (the pump is an optional item). The appliance work cycle (standard, without optional elements) can be divided as follows: Phase Description 1 Introduction of the laundry to be washed into the steel drum. 2 Introduction into the soap dispenser of the detergents to be used in the washing cycle. 3 Selection of the programme to be used and starting of the washing cycle. 4 When the washing cycle is over, discharge of the washing bath into the seqwage system. 5 Cycle stop, signalled by the machine. 6 Laundry unloading. 7 Disconnection of water and power supplies. 39 TRANSPORT WITH TRANSPALLET The transport and handling activities described in this section must be performed by qualified personnel with specific skills for such operations. Refer to the "Technical data" section for the weight of the appliance. TRANSPORT The appliance is transported to the point closest to the installation lsite on a pallet by means of a transpallet. Observe the minimum fork length specified in the section "TABLE OF DIMENSIONS AND WEIGHT FOR TRANSPORT". To handle the machine by transpallet, proceed as follows: Step Action 1 Place the transpallet forks under the pallet to which the appliance is fastened. 2 Slowly lift by a few inches and check the grip stability. 3 Proceed slowly until near the place of installation and lower the load again. Once at the site chosen for installation, proceed as follows: Step Action 1 Unscrew the pallet fixing screws on the base of the appliance. 2 Gently slide the appliance off the pallet. 3 Manually push it to the point chosen for installation. 39

Any damage caused by handling the machine in a different way from that described in this manual shall not be attributed to the Manufacturer. UNPACKING IMPORTANT! After delivering the appliance, check the condition of the packaging. If damage is ascertained: Pos. Element 1 Leave the packaging concerned as it is found. 2 Immediately require a damage assessment by the company responsible for forwarding. 3 Report the damage detected to the relevant transport insurance. Should no damage be ascertained, proceed to unpack the machine after placing the packaged appliance in the area designated for it. Pos. Element 1 Cut the straps that secure the cardboard box. 2 Lift the cardboard box upwards. 3 Remove the protective packaging. IMPORTANT! Put the materials used for packaging in a safe place, not accessible to unauthorised people, so as to keep them for any future movements. After providing for the removal of the packaging, check that: The various parts of the appliance do not show any physical damage due to shocks, tears or abrasions. There are no marks or dents on the side panels indicative of shocks during transport. PACKAGING DISPOSAL TRANSPORT IMPORTANT! If you proceed to dispose of the materials used for packaging, comply with the regulations applied in the country of installation. After locating the appliance in the place of installation, proceed to remove the appliance upper, front, rear, central and lower panels (the latter only in some models where fixings are less accessible): Step Action 1 Unscrew the two M6 Torx head rear screws to remove the top panel. 2 3 Remove the front service panel (secured with two M6 torx head screws on the bottom and 2 M4 torx head screws on the top). Note: Pay attention to the electrical connection of the emergency stop button. Unscrew the M6 Torx head screws to remove the central rear panel and the lower rear panel (the latter in models where fixing holes are less accessible). 4 Remove the rear panel of the switchboard where electrical connections will be made; INSTALLATION, CONNECTIONS, AND ADJUSTMENTS 46

47 Then proceed to secure the device to the floor (or metal base, only for GWM/GWN) models, as described below: Step Action 1 Place the appliance on the drilled holes. 2 3 Make sure the appliance has a steady, horizontal position in all corners. If this is not the case, balance the appliance by inserting stainless steel supports or A galvanised spacers (not supplied) between the appliance frame and the floor. Note: The support size must match the size of the appliance frame in correspondence of the fastening bolts (80x80mm) Secure the appliance to the floor using M16 (mechanical or chemical) anchor bolts with a minimum length of 150 mm (not supplied). Tighten the nuts with a torque of at least 100 Nm. A Tighten the bolts only after checking the appliance for actual stability and proper levelling. IMPORTANT! If the appliance is not secured to the floor, it may move and cause damage to people and/or things. INSTALLATION, CONNECTIONS, AND ADJUSTMENTS Always make sure that the appliance is properly levelled. In case of subsequent movements, levelling and securing operations must always be performed. Proceed to remove the brackets securing the drum during transport(2 brackets at the front and two at the rear) (only for GWH models). After removing the transport brackets: Step Action 1 Reattach the front, central rear, lower rear and upper panels. 2 Make connections to the mains connections required. Do not operate the appliance without having first removed the brackets. 47

IMBALANCE MICRO SWITCH ADJUSTMENT (GWH model only) Adjust the imbalance micro switch to prevent excessive imbalances of the tank drum unit during spinning, and ensure proper operation of the appliance. Proceed as described: Step Action The adjustment operation of the imbalance micro switch must be performed after removing the transport brackets. Adjust after installing the appliance in its final position with an empty drum. 1 Place the elastic rod (A) in the middle and at the bottom with respect to the slot determining the maximum excursion. INSTALLATION, CONNECTIONS, AND ADJUSTMENTS Adjust this device whenever the appliance must be moved. A 48

49 CONNECTIONS WATER CONNECTION The connections to the appliance must be carried out by a qualified installer trained by the manufacturer, in the presence of an electrical technician able to make the electrical connections required. The Manufacturer will not be responsible for any damage to the appliance caused by faulty connections, or use of connection materials other than those described. After carrying out the connections, make sure there are no bottlenecks in the pipes used. When drinking water is connected to the appliance, a double check valve (or another equally effective device), providing at least third class protection to prevent the onset of backflow, must be mounted at the junction point between the water connection and the appliance. The appliance requires: A connection for "C" hot water input (maximum 90 C); Two connections for cold water input ( B hard and A fresh water respectively). Step Action 1 Connect the hoses to the appliance connectors and to the wall ones. 2 Interpose sealing gaskets. 2 Manually close the nut of the hose ring nut up to the lock. 3 Make a quarter turn with a monkey wrench. INSTALLATION, CONNECTIONS, AND ADJUSTMENTS Do not connect the water inlets with rigid pipes. Use the pipes supplied with the appliance. Rigid pipes can cause problems due to the vibrations generated by the appliance during normal operation. Do not connect with used hoses. At the end of connection, make sure that there are no bottlenecks or crushed parts in the used pipes. Check the ring nuts of the loading pipes and filters (where present) for tightness, slowly opening the water tap and checking for water leaks. If the incoming water pressure is lower than the minimum value, the outcome of the washing programme is not guaranteed. 50

51 DRAIN PIPE CONNECTION The appliance is equipped with a connector for the drain pipe (A) of the water used during the washing process. Make sure that the distance between the appliance drain connector and the floor drain is not greater than the supplied elbow-joint length. The drain duct must always be lower than the appliance outlet and its diameter must not be lower than that of the supply pipe. The drain duct must withstand temperatures of 90 and have such a capacity as to collect the water drained. Make sure there are no bottlenecks. INSTALLATION, CONNECTIONS, AND ADJUSTMENTS If several washing machines have been parallelly installed in the room, the main drain channel must have such a capacity as to simultaneously collect the water drained by all connected machines. The connections to the equipment must be carried out by a qualified installer trained by the manufacturer, in the presence of an electrical technician able to make the electrical connections required. For appliances with steam supply, make sure that the electrical connection cable cannot come into contact with the steam supply pipe or condensation collection/recovery pipe. For each appliance, an independent circuit must be used. The electrical installation of the laundry facility must include a differential switch (RCD) type B and an automatic disconnection device (laundry distribution unit). INSTALLATION, CONNECTIONS, AND ADJUSTMENTS IMPORTANT! The electrical connection must be carried out in compliance with the rules in force in the country of installation. IMPORTANT! Power the appliance in accordance with its rating plate data, and check the distribution system for correctness. EARTHING CONNECTION The appliance must be connected to the protective earthing system of the room where it is installed, using an independent conductor. The appliance described in this manual is set up for a TT earthing system. To perform a protective earthing connection, follow this procedure: 53

Note: Use the cable gland mounted on the rear panel. Should multiple appliances be installed in the same room, ensure that a protective equipotential connection is made between all appliances, using the outer protective clamp on the rear of the washing machine. Then connect to the earthing connection through an earthing protective circuit alternative to the earth wire provided with the socket. Pos. The frequency inverter and motor power supply phase, which is connected to the clamp inside the appliance, must be alternately connected to the mains L1 phase for the first appliance, and to the L2 second phase for the second appliance, etc. The fourth appliance must be connected to the L1 first phase. This ensures a uniform load of the electrical mains. 54

Note: Make sure no accidental contact is possible as the power supply cable remains live even if the master switch is turned off. 5 Insert the protective conductor into the eyelet of the cable to ensure proper connection to the PE clamp. 6 7 Connect the conductors of the power supply cable to the terminals (L1/U, L2/V, L3/W, N) and the clamp (copper screw) marked PE. Loosen the cable before running it into the loop. Note:This prevents condensation water from penetrating into the appliance. Check that the cable has a bend that is lower than the appliance inlet or terminal board, in a way that any drops of condensation on the cable do not come into contact with the electrical connections. 59 LIQUID DETERGENT INTRODUCTION PUMP CONNECTION (OPTIONAL) The appliance connections must be carried out by a qualified installer, trained by the Manufacturer. In the back of the device there are 13 inputs (1) for the hydraulic connection of the liquid detergent automatic dispensing system. Three different diameters are available to allow the connection of the different sections of pipes that can be provided with the automatic dispensing systems. IMPORTANT! Use pumps for liquid detergents with sufficient flow velocity, so that the required amount is conveyed in a short time (less than 30 seconds). Before connecting, remove with a tool the inner membrane plugging the hole to be used. On the rear panel is a plastic tube connector for liquid detergent hoses. Depending on the number of pumps used for liquid detergents, drill 8 mm Ø holes (max. 8) in the connecting section for each pump. IMPORTANT! Use the openings on the left for connecting the pumps. The pumps resommended flow is l/h. In the connecting section there are three connecting pipes with an internal diameter of 12 mm. These connecting pipes are to be used only for conveying liquid detergent mixed with water. Drill 11.5 mm Ø holes in the pipes. These connecting pipes are normally closed. Drill holes only in the pipes to be used. Before using the appliance, remove the particles produced by drilling as they may clog hoses and holes. INSTALLATION, CONNECTIONS, AND ADJUSTMENTS Check that the hose connection is sufficiently tightened. Any leaks of chemical substances may cause serious injury, and severe damage to the appliance. If one of the connecting pipes is open, close it and cover the hole with the cap provided. 1 59

60 WASHING MACHINE Series GWH / GWM / GWN ELECTRICAL CONNECTION OF THE LIQUID DETERGENT AUTOMATIC DISPENSING SYSTEM The appliance electrical connections must be performed by a qualified, enabled technician. Refer to the wiring diagram for connection modes. For the electrical connection of the signals controlling the dispensing system, a terminal block for the corresponding pump connection is provided on the back of the appliance. The electrical connection plate is located close to the terminal block. The soap pumps can be powered at 24Vac or 230Vac. The maximum current for the pump control circuit must be powered at 4A. Proceed as described: Step Action 1 Run the signal electrical connection cable through the plastic loop. 2 Connect the wires to the respective positions of the connector (screw clamps). 3 Secure the cable by tightening the loop to prevent detachment. 61 TESTING Functional testing, designed to check the appliance for proper operation, is carried out at the factory. On-site, during installation, a technician must check that the machine is properly installed. 62 WASHING MACHINE Series GWH / GWM / GWN MAINTENANCE SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FOR MAINTENANCE The appliances must undergo regular technical maintenance, and any detected defect which can jeopardise the workers' health and safety must be eliminated immediately. Maintenance operations must be performed by qualified, authorised personnel. From an operational point of view, maintenance operations can be divided in two main categories: Routine maintenance Extraordinary maintenance All those preventive operations that the operator must carry out to ensure the smooth operation of the appliance over time. All those operations that the operator must perform on the appliance when required (breakage, malfunctions,...). Before performing any maintenance work: Disconnect the appliance from the power source Disconnect all other supply sources such as steam/condensate drain or gas Make sure the drum is at a standstill Make sure internal temperature is below 40 C make sure there is no water in the tank before opening the porthole. If the person performing maintenance work is not visible during power disconection, or if people who are not aware of maintenance work being performed can start a cycle without realising the presence of people working on the appliance, it is necessary to affix warning signs indicating "Appliance under maintenance". Each procedure described in this manual must be accompanied by the required PPE. After performing maintenance work and prior to re-commissioning the appliance, it is necessary to: Make sure that any replaced part and/or the tools used for maintenance have been removed from the appliance Check the emergency devices Carefully inspect the appliance before operating it again, and make sure all panels have been reassembled and returned to their seat. IMPORTANT! The machine parts must only be replaced with original parts supplied by the Manufacturer. MAINTENANCE 62

63 ROUTINE MAINTENANCE To ensure the appliance proper operation, regular and preventive checks and maintenance work must be carried out according to the tables provided and the maintenance schedule indicated therein. Failure to observe the above exempts the Manufacturer from any liability to the effects of the warranty. The intervals indicated refer to normal operating conditions, i.e. in line with the expected and contractually established operating conditions. The personnel in charge of maintenance activities must be authorised and especially trained on the safety and operational standards to be complied with in the danger situations that may arise, and the correct methods for avoiding them. MAINTENANCE VERIFICATION TABLE Operation Make sure that the washing cycle does not start with the porthole open and that the latter cannot be opened when the washing cycle is in progress. Make sure that the fastening bolts of the device are fixed to the floor. Make sure that nothing has been left (clothes or other objects) inside the drum or rubber gasket. Check the transmission belt tension. Check the seal of the water and steam valves. Make sure that water does not leak from the coupling hub of the washing machine drum. Check the seal of the discharge valve. Make sure that the contacts on the contactor terminals and on the other live terminals are tightened correctly. Check the tightening moments of the screws. Check the seal of all the hoses and connections inside the appliance. Every 1000 cycles (or manually), it indicates the request for maintenance. Proceed as follows as soon as the message is displayed: Pos. Element 1 Write the number of cycles performed on the maintenance form. 2 Check the operation of the differential switch by pressing the "test" button (if available). 3 Clean the inverter cooling fan. 4 Make sure that the floor fastening nuts (if available) are closed. 5 Check tightness of the electric power connection screws on the heating remote control switch and disconnecting switch. 6 Disassemble the discharge valve and remove any internal thread. Make sure that water leaking from the drain during the washing cycle is irrelevant. 7 Check resistors operation and remove any lime scale deposit and threads. 8 Reset the maintenance message following the procedure contained in the annex concerning control. TRANSMISSION BELT TENSIONING Required IPD Operator qualification Required equipment ENABLED TECHNICIAN Proceed as follows to check the belt tensioning: Pos. Element 1 Apply a force of 60N to the central point between motor and belt (perpendicularly and only to one belt at a time). 2 Measure the belt displacement. Note: correct displacement ranges between 15 and 20 mm. Reduce tension if displacement is <15 mm or increase tension if displacement is >20. 3 Use the screw and the motor support adjustment and locking nut to obtain the indicated value. If the belt is too tight, wear is more likely to occur. On the other hand, if it is too loose, the belt tends to skid. MAINTENANCE Replace the belt if worn. Contact the Authorised After-Sales Centre for replacement. Should an electric belt tensioning meter be available, the reference frequency of the single appliances are indicated in the following table. Clean the forced cooling openings (cooling fans). Clean the filters of the water load solenoid valves. Clean the filters of the steam solenoid valve (only for appliances with this type of heating). Clean the syphon of the softener C compartment (for kg 8,11,18,22) Clean the drain of the discharge valve. Clean the display visual surface. Breaking the display can cause fluid leakage. Should body parts come into contact with the display fluid, wash with plenty of water and soap. Seek medical help in the event of accidental ingestion of the fluid. Condensation may form on the glass of the display, thereby damaging the latter irreparably. Immediately wipe up the water droplets. FILTER CLEANING Before cleaning filters, make sure all the water intake pipes connected to the appliance are closed. These interventions require in-depth, specific knowledge of the appliance as well as the operations required, associated risks and correct procedures for safe operation. If exceptional events requiring extraordinary maintenance operations occur, the user must follow these procedures: Check the status of damaged or out-of-phase components If the operations to be carried out are not covered in this manual, send the Manufacturer a report with the events occurred, the inspection result and any comments. Send the report with the events occurred, the inspection result and any comments to the address specified in the appropriate form. The Manufacturer or the Authorised After-Sales Centre will assess the situation case by case. They will then agree on the type of action to be taken jointly with the user, choosing the most suitable solution among those listed below: The Manufacturer or the Authorised After-Sales Centre will send another qualified technical employee, trained and authorised to perform the necessary operations Or The Manufacturer will authorise the user to take the required actions, sending additional instructions The spare parts to be replaced shall be ordered from the Manufacturer. If the customer does not use original spare parts or parts authorised in writing by the Manufacturer, the latter shall be deemed free of any liability on the operation of the appliance and the safety of the operators. Permissions and/or instructions must always be given in writing. Without a written permission, it is forbidden to operate the appliance, and the Manufacturer declines all responsibility. 69 REPLACING THE DOOR GASKET Required IPD Operator qualification Required equipment To replace the door gasket, proceed as follows: Step Action 1 Open the door. ENABLED TECHNICIAN Rope Silicone 2 Remove the glass of the door with the gasket, pulling the gasket of the door steel frame in the drum direction. 3 Tear off the gasket from the glass. 4 Insert the new gasket into the glass wider recess, with the edge upwards. 5 Lubricate the recess of the door gasket with soap and water. 6 Run a smooth rope into the recess. Wrap the entire edging with the rope and fit it into the door frame. Grasp one end of the rope with your hand and press it against the door. Pull the other end towards the centre of the glass to properly lay the gasket edging. 7 Apply some silicone on the frame top and bottom. 8 Leave the door closed until the silicone is hardened. MAINTENANCE TRANSMISSION BELT REPLACEMENT Required IPD Operator qualification Required equipment ENABLED TECHNICIAN Make sure the appliance is not connected to the power supply and cannot be accidentally turned on. To remove belts from the pulley, never use levers, screwdrivers or similar tools. Belts are accessible from the rear of the appliances. If belts are too tight or too loose, their life cycle is reduced. Moreover, if they are too loose, they can come out of the seat of the pulley and cause damage and noise. Pay attention during the course of operations. A risk of shearing/crushing persists. To replace the transmission belt, proceed as follows: Step Action 1 Remove the rear panel of the machine. 2 Slide out the belt transmission rotating the pulley of the drum by a quarter turn. 3 Place the new belt on the motor pulley first and then on the pulley of the drum by rotating it slightly. The belt is selfcentring. Refer to the "Tensioning transmission belts" section. 69

The fuse precise values can be found close to the fuse casings and in the circuit diagram supplied with the appliance. If a fuse blows, it can be replaced with a fuse with the same value, but never with a fuse having a higher value. If a fuse blows again, do not replace it, but find the cause of the fault using the wiring diagram attached. In case of need, please contact the Manufacturer. MAINTENANCE 70

71 DECOMMISSIONING DECOMMISSIONING To decommission the appliance, proceed as described: Pos.
