5 DESCRIPTIONS & How-To-Use FEATURES OF THE Spa Unit The number refers to where the component is located on the tub in the diagram on page Aromatherapy - unscrew the cap. Place scented bead basket into cavity. Make sure cap is on securely before use. The aromatherapy compartment is activated when using the air jet system. 2. Ten (10) Hydro-Jets - use to massage lumbar area of back/lower back. Activated when using the water pump. Adjust utilizing the Air/Hydro Control (20). 3. Water Flow Diverter - utilized to adjust the flow from the bidet and lumbar jets or to eliminate flow all together. When turned to the off position, only front leg jets are operational. 4. Air Control Button - turns the Air Jets on and off. 5. Chromotherapy Lights Control Button - a dedicated control button on the deck of the bathing unit that turns the Chromotherapy Lights on and off. To change the color of the lights, press the control button off and back on. 8. Personal Hygiene Therapy/Bidet - activated by utilizing the water pump control (19). The bidet and the lumbar jets pressure can be adjusted or turned off by utilizing the water flow control lever. 9. Low Effort Locking Handle -this secures the door while the bathing unit is in use. Do not attempt to open the door while water is still in bathing unit. 10. In-line Heater to Maintain Constant Temps - the heating element will come on automatically, but only when the water jet system is turned on. The heater is designed to extend the comfortable bathing time. The function of the in-line heater is to maintain the water temperature. The in-line heater is not designed to boost or aid an insufficient hot water heater in the home. 11. Water Pump & Intake - the water intake feeds water into the water pump when utilizing the water jets. When the water pump is in use, there is suction on this return that should not be obstructed. Be careful of washcloths, body sponges, etc. This should be checked and cleaned of hair and debris as needed. 12. Ozone Sanitizing Cleaner - this system will turn on automatically when the water jet system is turned on. 18. Warm Air Jets - Activate the blower by pushing the button on the deck labeled air. (4) Push the button to turn on/off. Please note - Air jet system must be turned on for Aromatherapy (1) feature to operate. Air jets run around the interior of the bathing unit. Active when the air blower is in use. Front Leg Jets - use to massage legs and knees. Can be positioned by moving the nozzle inside of jet. Back Leg Jets - use to massage calves and back of leg. Can be positioned by moving the nozzle inside of jet. Purge cycle the air blowers are equipped with a purge cycle to remove residual water from the lines. The purge cycle will begin approximately 20 minutes after the air system is initially turned off and will continue for several minutes. The purge cycle will make noise so do not be alarmed. 19. Water Pump Control Button - turns the Hydro-Jets on and off. 20. Air/Hydro Control Button - increases or decreases the volume of air introduced to all jets which intensifies massaging action. 21. Heated Seat and Back Control Button - turns the Heated Seat/Back on and off. 24. Hand-held Shower Wand - the shower wand (spray) on the back corner of the bathing unit is utilized for washing hair and body. It is also a convenient tool to rinse out the bathing unit. the knob on the back of the spout is the diverter valve. Pull the diverter valve to the up position to transfer the flow of water from bathing unit spout to shower wand. 25. Easy To Reach Faucet Handle - utilize the left hand lever to allow hot water to flow. Utilize the right hand lever to allow cold water to flow. The tub filler is located between the hot and cold lever handles to allow the complete flow of water. 27. Massaging Foot Jets - positioned to massage feet 28. Quick Release Drain - to drain the tub. The drain must be closed to fill the tub. Check and clear debris as needed (i.e. hair) from over flow drain. Turn the lever to open and close the main drain. This is where excess water will flow when the bathing unit is over filled. Never fill bathing unit above the drain knob. 4

6 OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS 1. Using Your Luxury Spa Unit Entering the Spa Unit Enter you spa unit, close the door, place door handle in down position. Fill the bathing unit with water to to the bottom of the overflow before activating the whirlpool pump. DO NOT apply excessive pressure when placing the handle in the close position. DO NOT put weight on door when entering or exiting the spa unit. Utilize the sides of the spa unit for stability upon entering/exiting. Note: It is recommended to leave the door to the spa unit open when the unit is not in use. 2. Using the Water and Air Jet Control Buttons DO NOT RUN WHIRLPOOL DRY!!!!! The spa unit is equipped with water and air jets or a combo system. The pump and blower are operated by the push button switch labeled air or water. Do not push the buttons repeatedly. Do not push the buttons rapidly. Maintenance : Cleaning & Care In order to maintain your spa unit and keep it working in proper order regular care and general maintenance is required. Maintenance care is needed to keep each component clean and working at an optimal level. Maintenance care should be performed on the spa unit, internal water carrying pipe system and jets. Mineral deposits may have a staining effect on the unit s finished surface. Clean the bathing unit s surfaces and fixtures on a regular basis. In order to enjoy the beauty and quality of your bathing unit, please follow these simple guidelines. A. Do not use powdered cleaners. Solid substances can block air jets. B. Do not use abrasive cleansers or solvents. Abrasive cleansers and solvents can damage the surface of the spa unit. 5

7 Maintenance : Cleaning & Care CONTINUED C. Avoid detergents, disinfectants, or cleaning products in aerosol cans. D. Do not use steel wool, wire brushes, or other abrasive materials to clean bathing unit. E. Wipe out spa unit with soft cloth after each use. F. Never use oil or oil based bath additives. G. Maintaining air jets - If cleaning air jets is required due to hard water deposits, use a small dental brush with vinegar. Dip the brush into vinegar, brush the hole, rinse brush in clean water, then use the wet rinsed brush to rinse the holes. Fill the spa unit with water over the top row of air jets. Drain the spa unit and turn on the air jets only to flush. H. Regular cleaning after using the spa unit, rinse all surfaces with the shower wand and warm water. On a weekly basis, wash all surfaces of the bathing unit with a mild solution of gel coat friendly cleaner. Purge and clean the entire system once a month. Use automatic dishwashing soap and a cup of bleach to get rid of body oils and soap residue which can add to bacterial growth within the system. Fill the spa unit up with warm water to just above the highest whirlpool jet. Use a spoonful of automatic dish washing soap and a cup of bleach. Turn the system on for 15 minutes, then drain the spa unit. Next, fill the spa unit again with warm water and run for another 15 minutes to rinse out plumbing. Use the shower wand to rinse out the spa unit and then wipe down with a soft clean cloth. I. After each use, take a soft cloth and wipe the soap residue off door seal to prevent leakage (soap residue buildup on door seal could cause a drip). J. Restore dull or scratched finish by applying white automotive polishing compound with a clean cloth. Rub scratches and dull areas vigorously. Wipe off residue. Follow with a coat of white automotive paste wax. CAUTION: DO NOT WAX AREAS YOU STAND, SIT OR WALK ON. 6

8 WARRANTY Door/Door Seal Warranty Subject to the terms and conditions herein, Secure Spa warrants to you, the original purchaser/homeowner, that the Secure Spa unit door or door seal will not fail or become inoperable so long as you own and reside in the residence where the Secure Spa unit has been delivered, subject to the exceptions, limitations, disclaimers and other terms and conditions contained in this document. Tub Shell/Finish/Frame Warranty Subject to the terms and conditions herein. Secure Spa warrants to you, the original purchaser/homeowner, that the Secure Spa unit shell, finish, and aluminum frame will not crack, fade, delaminate, or blister for as long as you reside within the residence where the Secure Spa unit has been delivered, subject to the exceptions, limitations, disclaimers, and other terms and conditions contained in this document. 5 Year Limited Warranty Subject to the terms and conditions herein, Secure Spa warrants to you, the original purchaser/homeowner, that the water pump, in-line heater, and air blower will not fail nor become inoperable for 5 years from date of purchase, so long as you reside where the Secure Spa unit has been delivered. 1 Year Limited Warranty Subject to the terms and conditions herein, Secure Spa warrants to you, the original purchaser/homeowner, the ozone generator, light and timer switches are under warranty for one year from purchase date, so long as you reside within the residence where the Secure Spa unit has been delivered, subject to the exceptions, limitations, disclaimers, and other terms and conditions contained in this document. Other components used for the installation of the spa unit come with their own manufacturer s warranty. Installation and Workmanship Secure Spa cannot warranty installation or workmanship performed by contractors not directly hired by Secure Spa. Secure Spa does not warranty installation on supply only or drop shipment contracts. The purchaser/ homeowner s warranty obligation would need to be fulfilled by the builder/ contractor for issues with caulking, grout, leaking faucets, or any other installation workmanship malfunctions. 7

9 WARRANTY - Continued Requested Service Should the original purchaser/homeowner request service on any aspect or function of the spa unit from Secure Spa after purchaser has installed the spa unit, additional labor fees will be applicable. Secure Spa will supply parts covered under warranty at no additional charge to customer subject to the exceptions, limitations, disclaimers, and other terms and conditions contained in this document. Other components of the Secure Spa unit may be covered by warranties provided by the manufacturers of these components which will be provided to purchaser/homeowner. The third party warranties should be closely reviewed to determine your rights. How to Obtain Warranty Service To submit a claim, please provide a signed and dated copy providing proof of purchase of either the home or remodel job, warranty registration card dated and filled out. Submit to BathAid, Inc. along with your home address. Warranty service requests must be submitted in writing by registered mail to Secure Spa, PO Box 10, Hohenwald, TN Claims must be submitted promptly after discovery of the claimed defect and within the applicable warranty period. Upon receipt of the claim if it is determined that a valid claim exists under one or more of the warranties, the defective product or component will be shipped to the customer. In the event Secure Spa must replace a product or component and the original replacement is no longer available, Secure Spa or its designated representative shall have the right to substitute a product or component designated by Secure Spa or its designated representative to be of equal quality. Replacement of product or component does not renew the warranty period. Non-warranty requests for repair or adjustment may result in additional service charge. Items Not Covered by Warranty All warranties terminate immediately upon the transfer of home ownership. All warranties assume normal and reasonable use of the Secure Spa unit. These warranties do not cover any other damage, workmanship, or material failure including, but not limited to, damage caused by occurrences beyond the control of Secure Spa. These damages and/or occurrences include incompatible accessories; removal, repair, or re-installation of Secure Spa unit or any component thereof by any person not a representative of Secure Spa; corrosive effects of chemical pollutants; normal fading; fire; weather of catastrophic nature as defined by the US National Weather Service and other acts of God; intentional acts and/or unreasonable use of unit or failure to provide reasonable maintenance. BathAid, Inc. expressly disclaims any liability for any cost of defects or damages with respect to installation by third party contractors. This warranty is not transferable. 8

16 Warning: All Instructions listed in this manual should be read and followed carefully. IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS Use this unit only for its intended use as described in this manual. Do not use any attachments or accessories not recommended or endorsed by the manufacturer. To avoid injury, exercise caution when entering or exiting this bathing unit. Do not permit children or persons with infirmities to use this bathing unit unless they are closely supervised by an adult. Risk of hyperthermia and possible drowning. The use of medication, drugs, or alcohol can increase the risk of hyperthermia. Prolonged immersion in hot water may induce hyperthermia. Hyperthermia occurs when the internal temperature of the body reaches a level several degrees above the normal body temperature of 98.6 F (37 C). The symptoms of hyperthermia include an increase in the internal temperature of the body, dizziness, lethargy, drowsiness, and fainting. The effects of hyperthermia include: (a) failure to perceive heat, (b) failure to recognize the need to exit the bath, (c) unawareness of impending hazard, (d) fetal damage in pregnant women, (e) physical inability to exit bath and (f) unconsciousness resulting in danger of drowning. Risk of fetal injury pregnant or possibly pregnant women should consult a physician before using the bathing unit. Any person with a serious medical condition such as heart disease, low or high blood pressure, circulatory system problems, or diabetes should consult a physician before using. Limit bath time to approximately 30 minutes, followed by a shower to cool down. Lower water temps are recommended for uses exceeding minutes and are also recommended for younger children. If you feel nauseous, dizzy, or develop a headache, exit the tub and cool off. If symptoms persist, seek medical attention. Consult a physician before using bathing unit again. Do not use the bathing unit immediately following strenuous exercise. Risk of electric shock The bathing unit must be connected to a ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI). The GFCI should be provided and installed by a licensed electrician and tested monthly. To test the GFCI, push the test button. The GFCI should interrupt the power. Push the reset button and the power should come back on. If the GFCI fails to operate in this manner, there is a possibility of an electric shock. DO NOT OPERATE the bathing unit. Disconnect the bathing unit and have a qualified electrician repair the problem before future use. Do not have electric appliances (such as hairdryer, lamp, telephone, radio, or television) within four feet of bathing unit. Never drop or insert any object(s) into any openings within the bathing unit. Do not operate the bathing unit without the guard over the water intake in place. The guard is a safety measure taken to reduce the potential hazard of hair/body entrapment. When pump is running, keep hair and body away from the water intake areas.
