3 Van Houtum in balance with nature Van Houtum and the Swalm River have been neighbours for 75 years. The river plays an essential role in the production of hygienic paper. Without water recycling, the water (obtained from the Swalm) needed to produce one roll of toilet paper would be equal to 15 L. By recycling the process water as much as possible, this consumption is reduced to only 1 L. Of course, we would also like to give something back to nature: between the Swalm and the production facility, Van Houtum has created a green corridor in which butterflies, insects and birds will feel perfectly at home. Of course, our assortment includes the traditional roll, in lengths of 200, 250 and 400 sheets. Satino also offers jumbo rolls, from 180 m to 600 m, as well as compact rolls. The advantage of the compact rolls is that they need to be replaced less frequently, resulting in signifi cant cost savings.
