1 FloorCare Trouble Shooting and Help Guide TT / TTB 1840 Make sure you read and fully understand your 1840 manual before using the machine. The 1840 has been designed to scrub and dry a variety of hard floors. This machine has not been designed to pick up large objects, make sure you pre-sweep the floor before use. For optimum performance make sure you keep the filters, hoses and floor tool blades clean and free from debris. Disconnect from the power supply or remove the battery BEFORE commencing cleaning or maintenance. PROBLEM CAUSE SOLUTION Machine will not operate. Missing or blown fuses. Battery not connected. Low battery charge. Replace fuse. Connect Battery. Charge. Vacuum will not operate. Vacuum not turned on. Turn on. Poor water pick-up. Waste-water tank full. Blocked vacuum hose. Loose hose. Basket filter blocked. Separator filter blocked. Poor separator seal. Damaged separator seal. Damaged vacuum hose. Damaged floor-tool blades. Low battery charge. Empty. Clean. Tighten. Clean. Clean. Clean and refit. Renew. Renew. Renew. Recharge. No brush / Scrub function. Little or no water flow. Machine just stops while operating. No brushes fitted. Brush overloaded. Clean-water tank empty. Clean-water tank filter blocked. Incorrect water flow setting. To much load on the brush system. Blown fuse in battery pack. Check and fit. Reset. Fill. Clean. Adjust tap as desired Reset, decrease the brush load. Replace 40 Amp fuse. It is recommended you strip and thoroughly clean the machine and its components regularly. At least weekly to avoid operating troubles and machine breakdowns. After every time the machine is used. The machine should be left in a clean and tidy state, drain all fluids, clean all filters, pipes and place the battery on charge.

2 Fitting brush, Filling machine, Clean water tap and Raising floor tool... Fitting the brush... Filling tank... Fill gauge... Moving when full... The machine uses a 400mm brush or a 360mm pad drive. Fit the brush pad onto the Nulock drive and twist to lock in place. Remove the filler cap and fill using a hose, bucket or suitable container. Fill the clean water tank to a maximum of 18 litres including chemical if required. Fitted to the clean water inlet is a red plastic fill gauge, this shows the tank full. When the clean water tank is full the machine can be tilted to a maximum of 45 0 without spillage. Take care to make sure that contaminants (leaves, hair, dirt, etc.) are not allowed to enter the clean water tank. Clean Water Tap... Raising and lowering the Floor Tool... Off On 45% Located on the left of the machine is the clean water tap, make sure the tap has been turned on before use. Ideally set the tap to 45% this enables the cleaning solution to last the same time as a fully charged battery.. To raise and lower the floor tool make sure the floor tool is central to the machine. Lift the handle near the base of the handle to raise the floor tool and lock in position.

3 Operating Switches and Overload / Fuses Operating Switches... Hi - Lo Setting The 1840 machine provides a choice of both high and low speeds. To activate the control panel: press the Mode select button or press a trigger on the handle. Mode Button 1 To start: hold down either trigger and press the yellow On / Off switch once. Whilst the brush motor is running press the water flow On / Off button for fluid control (fig 1), the clean water On / Off tap must be open When the Triggers are released the brush motor and the cleaning solution pump will switch off, the vacuum motor will continue for 10 seconds. Press the mode select button to operate the brush only (fig 2). The start sequence is required in this mode. The water flow On / Off button will operate in this mode. Press the mode select button again to get vacuum only. The On / Off Switch and triggers are not required in this mode. (fig 3) Press the mode select button to switch this mode off and return to default mode. The panel if unused will automatically turn off after 60 seconds. Brush Overload... The brush motor will cut out and the Hi / Lo light will flash if the brush motor has been overloaded (fig 4). Releasing the handle triggers will allow the machine to reset. If the brush motor keeps overloading consider using a different type of brush. Heavy brush load decreases the available battery run time. Battery Pack Fuse... The battery pack comes fitted with a 40 amp fuse, replace the fuse using Numatic approved part (208526) if required.

4 Brushes, Floor tool and Inlet tube... Storage... Numatic recommend you leave your 1840 resting on the brush if leaving for machine for short periods of time. This saves distorting the squeeze blades. It is important to make sure the floor tool is properly maintained for reliable water pick up. Remove the brush and floor tool if you are leaving the machine for extended periods of time. After every time your machine is used, we recommend you drain all fluids, clean all filters, pipes and place the battery on charge. The machine should be left in a clean and tidy state. Floor tool and inlet tube Make sure the floor tool inlet is not blocked (fig 1). The floor tool can be removed by swinging it to the right side of the machine (fig 2)... And undoing the retaining knobs (fig 3). The floor tool can also be stripped and cleaned. Clean the floor tool blades, replace if damaged and clean the castors. Replace is a reverse of the removal procedure, making sure the slotted blade goes to the front of the machine.

If you require further training or assistance contact your supervisor Drain Top (Waste) Tank Drain Bottom (Clean Water) Tank Use the drain hose to empty the top tank and flush the tank through with clean water, it is advisable to let the tank air dry, by removing the separator, if leaving your machine for extended periods of time. Located on the left of the machine is the yellow bottom tank drain cap. Drain the clean water tank if leaving your machine for a extended period. Note... Do not over tighten the yellow drain cap, this can not only cause the plastic to split, but make it extremely hard to remove the next time you want to drain the tank. The cap has a rubber seal and might require a spanner to remove. (Clean Water) Tank Filter Located under the clean water inlet is the clean water filter. Cleaning chemicals residue can cause the filter to become blocked causing poor water flow. Remove the clean water inlet (fig 1). On the bottom of the tank is the clean water filter, clean the filter regularly (fig 2). *Note:- Machine side cut away for clarity.

If you require further training or assistance contact your supervisor Remove and clean the separator The separator has a sealing rubber which should be cleaned and inspected at every cleaning of the machine (fig 1). Also remove the two filters clipped into the separator and flush with clean water. Replace by fitting the rear of the filter first then clipping the front to lock in place (fig 2). If you are leaving the machine for a long period leave the separator off, allowing the machine to air dry. Replace before commencing cleaning. Remove the top (dirty water) tank... Disconnect and remove the battery before proceeding with tank removal. Once emptied the top (dirty water) tank can be simply lifted off the machine.

7 Regular Maintenance... If you require further training or assistance contact your supervisor Removing the bottom (clean water) tank... Once the Bottom (clean water)tank has been emptied the tank can be removed, this involves firstly disconnecting the water feed pipe from the clean water tap. Note which way the clean water pipe and the black suction pipes are routed as they will have to be re-routed the same way on re-assembling. Lift the bottom tank making sure the black suction hose passes through the tank. Remove the suction hose from the inlet tube. Once the machine is stripped you can clean all tubes, pipes and filters. It is recommended that you carry out this procedure once a week. Re-assembling the machine... Refit the floor tool vacuum hose and feed the hose through the bottom tank, place the bottom tank onto the base. Make sure the water feed pipe locates in the channel moulded into the base of the tank. Connect the water feed pipe to the tap. Place the floor tool vacuum hose as shown and refit the top tank. Refit the Separator and reconnect the vacuum and separator hoses.

8 Battery Care... If you require further training or assistance contact your supervisor Battery charging We have had cases where operatives have plugged the charger into the machine (fig 1) instead of the battery (fig 2), this will not charge the battery, but will cause damage to the machine. Disconnecting the Charger. Make sure you use the connector handles fitted to the grey plug when disconnecting the machine, avoid pulling on the electrical cables, as this can cause damage to the cable (fig 3). Recharge the battery fully after its last use. Do not leave the battery in a discharged state. Use recommended PPE as required... Please comply with your company s COSHH risk assessments (Make sure you wear the appropriate safety clothing). Leave the machine empty and clean... Open the separator and let the machine air dry...
