3 Introduction Hello and welcome to the GrowMi service, in this manual you will find some information that will help you and your group in cultivating. Here there are the garden rules and some planning tools that can support the garden management. In the last page you will find a questionnaire that will help us in improving the service. Please fill it out and give it back to us at the end of the year. We hope that you will have a great time! Good luck, The GrowMi staff

5 GrowMi rules Here there are tha garden rules that all GrowMi members have to respect, in order to keep the garden as an enjoyable place for everyone. Maintaining the garden - No spraying of fertilizers or pesticides is allowed in or near the gardens. - Every gardener will respect other gardeners, and will not use abusive or profane language or discriminate against others. - Each gardener is asked to work to keep the garden a happy, secure, and enjoyable place where all participants can garden and socialize peacefully in a neighborly manner. - If for any reason (health, vacation, etc), you will temporarily unable to maintain your plot, inform the coordinator. If you have a substitute gardener, inform the coordinator. - If a member wants to quit the garden before the end of the year inform the staff. - If all members of the group are unable to pick their harvest and want to donate it through the Red Cross, inform the coordinator. - If a member is not taking care of the garden anymore without any reason for 20 days it will be notified by the staff. The member will be contacted by phone or . If no good reason for negligence is given his rent will not be refund and given to another person. - Each gardener is responsible for trash removal. - Gardeners are expected to put weeds on compost pile. - Gardeners agree to keep the garden free of weeds, diseased plants, insectinfected plants and over-ripe vegetables. - Diseased and infected plants must be removed from the garden and disposed of properly. - Don t bring in sand or gravel. - Be respectful of tall crops (such as sunflowers and corn), structures, trees, etc as to not plant these where they would shade and adjacent plot. - Gardeners must keep debris inside own plot. Any plants that protrude into the next plot or walk-way, may be trimmed or picked by the next plot owner where the plant is imposing into. - Gardeners will not make any permanent changes to the garden, such as adding an underground watering system or drastically changing elements of the garden, without permission from the staff. - Garden clean-up must be accomplished by the end of the year. Cleaned up means plot is ready for tilling, clean and level. - Children are welcome at the garden when accompanied and fully supervised by an adult. - Do not bring pets in the gardens. - Trees and plants do not have to be taller than 3 m. - No fire is allowed in the gardens - It is not allowed to take food or plants from the others plots. Group management - The plots will be assigned by the staff to each group giving the priority to groups that joined first

6 - All the members of the group, or at least one of their member will participate at the first collective meeting with other groups - All members of the group will be availabe for the first meeting in the garden - Groups can decide to both divide the plot equally between the members or cultivate it all together. - If the group has a management problem or other issue, please contact the staff. - A member can decide to swap to another group only if another person has the same will Seed Savers - Gardeners that join the seed saving program will plant rare seeds and make them multiply -Seed savers will store new seeds in the farmhouse and join seed exchange events - To avoid rare plant crossing with other plants the gardener will ask for suggestions at the staff before planting ancient seeds - Please contact the staff in case of diseased plants
