B Haines, 4 Downview Close, Hindhead Surrey GU26 6PY The reasons for objection to the three applications specified above are listed below: WA/2013/ The Committee believes that the proposed height of the fence would have a negative impact on the neighbouring property, and as such, the suggestion made by the occupier of Claremont, Bunch Lane to reduce the fence height to 2.75 metres seems a fair compromise. 2. The Committee would like to raise their concern that engineering work on a large scale has taken place prior to obtaining planning permission. WA/2013/ This application constitutes considerable over development of the site. The scale and bulk of the proposal are not in keeping with the surrounding properties, and are certainly not indicative of the local Surrey vernacular. The scale of the proposed dormer windows to create a two-storey dwelling is completely at odds with the original bungalow. 2. The Committee believe that this proposal is contrary to the Haslemere Design Statement, with particular reference to the design and architecture guidelines:

5 Extensions should be carefully considered, to reflect the style of the original dwelling and to avoid having an adverse effect on the street-scene. 3. The Committee also believe that this proposal is contrary to Waverley Borough Council s Residential Extensions Supplementary Planning Document (RESPD). The RESPD highlights that the purpose of dormer windows is to provide light and ventilation and not to increase the floor space or head height of the roof space and dormer windows should be set down from the ridge of the roof and set up from the eaves line. It is clear from this application that the proposal is to install two dormer windows on both the front and rear aspects of the dwelling, all of which would protrude above the original roof ridge. WA/2013/ The latest proposal is of a much greater mass to that already permitted, and the Committee feel that this results in considerable over-development of the site. 2. The proposal seems to give little consideration to the local environment of Hill Road and the designs demonstrates little sympathy to the Arts & Crafts architectural design of the original building. 3. It is believed that the proposal in its current form will have a detrimental impact on the amenity of the neighbouring property of Hillside, whereby they will be significantly overlooked should the application be granted. In fact, the Waverley Borough Council Residential Extensions SPD states that the design of any extension must ensure that the privacy enjoyed by the neighbouring properties is not significantly reduced. 4. The proposal also fails to be in accordance with the Haslemere Design Statement, with particular reference to the following design and architecture guidelines: Heights of buildings should relate to the scale of the adjoining properties in the street scene Extensions should be carefully considered, to reflect the style of the original dwelling and to avoid having an adverse effect on the street scene (Relevant to the area south of the town centre) Extensions and annexes should be well-designed and screened for minimum impact on the visual amenity of the area. The proposal fails to conform to any of these design guidelines. In light of the above, the Committee feels that this application is contrary to the Haslemere Design Statement, Policies D1 and D4 of the Waverley Local Plan 2002 and the Waverley Borough Council Residential Extensions SPD. 57/13 REPRESENTATIONS AT WAVERLEY COMMITTEE 58/13 APPEALS 59/13 DECISIONS 60/13 HIGHWAY ISSUES Cllr King advised that he is having a final meeting with Cllr Renshaw to discuss he state of Shepherds Hill and Weyhill. Cllr Isherwood thanked Cllr King for all of the work he has put into Highways issues. 61/13 WAVERLEY DESIGN AWARDS The Deputy Town Clerk reported on the scheme being run by Waverley.
