1 Securit 7 larm Panel Stock No ntroduction The Securit 7 is a microprocessor controlled intruder alarm panel. t features seven zones of which five are programmable and two dedicated to entry/exit and personal attack. nonvolatile memory holds the programming options and the 18 event log. These will be retained even in the event of total power loss. The panel utilises a blind control box, remote programming and control keypad. The system is designed to be simple to program and allow flexibility in use. Note: efore proceeding with installation read this document thoroughly. System planning To enable the installation to proceed smoothly it is best to plan the work before you begin. Start by drawing a plan of the building to be protected (see figures 1 and 2). You will need to divide the building into zones. Zone 1 is always used as the final exit zone with the securit 7 panel. The system layouts shown are a guide to typical positions of the system components. This will obviously vary depending on the premises and the level of protection to be afforded. However, the general rules given cover all installation layouts. eneral rules 1. Final exit doors should have magnetic contact switches fitted to ensure that the premises cannot be vacated with the doors left open and also to protect against forced entry. 2. PR detectors are best fitted where an intruder has to pass through an area to gain access (i.e. halls and landings) or to protect specific valuable items (i.e. office, lounge). are should be taken in siting to avoid direct sunlight, strong lighting and heat sources (hence the vibration detectors in the kitchen) as these may cause nuisance tripping. They are best sited so the intruder cuts across the field of view, see figure 1 (some products are specifically designed for long corridors in this instance this rule does not apply), hence a corner position is usually adopted. 3. PR, ultrasonic, vibration detectors, etc. all have complex electronics. These are best given their own zone as in the event of a fault occurring isolating the fault will be quicker and nuisance tripping quickly eliminated. Magnetic door contacts tend to be very reliable if installed well within their magnetic actuation limit. Hence these can be put in series together on a loop if appropriate. They are also easier to test if faulty. 4. Wiring is best concealed where possible to prevent damage and tampering. Try to avoid running along side mains cables as interference may occur. 5. The sound/strobe unit should be fitted well above head height to avoid tampering. The wiring should pass directly through the wall behind the bell to make it inaccessible. 6. The control panel requires a 240V power source. n unswitched fused spur preferably direct from the consumer unit on its own fuse wired in accordance with the current regulations should be provided. Using the above general rules you should plan your installation on your sketched drawing considering the panel siting, how the cable runs can be minimised, where different types of detector will be fitted and which zone they will be on. When you have finalised your plan you can begin installation. Figure 1. round floor view of a domestic premises H Lounge ining Room. Magnetic door contact zone 1. Zone 2. Zone 3. Keypad connections Note: f the tamper circuit is used throughout the installation it is recommended that an additional connector block (such as RS stock no ) be used to loop the tamper circuit between zones (see figure 4 for wiring details). Mains mains supply should be connected via an unswitched 3 fused spur wired in accordance with the current regulations. The mains unit cable should be brought in a separate entry to the panel to the low voltage cables. f in doubt consult a qualified electrician. t this stage it is worth checking the panel for correct operation, this can be done as follows: 1. heck that the terminals marked Ô24 hour tamper, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and PÕ have loop connections as shown below: Figure 4. 3 etectors The detection circuits consist of 2 series loops, (see figure 6). The actual detection zone and the 24 hour tamper loop. The detectors have normally closed contacts that break the series loop in the event of an alarm or a device being tampered with. Hence when wiring to a passive infrared (PR) or vibration detector or any other electronic detection device 6-core cable (RS stock no ) is required to provide zone, 24 hour and 12V power for magnetic door contacts. 4-core cable (RS stock no ) would be required. Where a mixture of detectors are used 6-core can be used throughout and 2-cores ignored for magnetic contacts. Figure 5 illustrates typical connections. Figure 6. The test procedure is as follows: 1. Type Ô1234Õ into the keypad, the exit time buzzer will begin. 2. efore the exit times out press Ô*Õ followed by Ô9Õ and Ô4Õ. The buzzer will emit a low level steady tone. 3. Walk around to each detector and check for operation. The keypad will give a loud pulsing tone to indicate correct operation and the zone number L will light whilst the detector is operated. 4. When the test is over press the Ô*Õ key to finish. Should any detector not operate at the end of the test re-check your wiring and re-test. Sounder/strobe connections The sounder strobe wiring should now be installed. onnections for the RS range of units are given in figure 7. The installation and testing of these units should be as the included instructions with each sounder/strobe unit. nternal sounder (speakers) The control panel is not fitted with a speaker in the box. f internal speakers are required they should be connected to the terminals marked SPKR (see figure 6). maximum of two 16½ speakers may be fitted in parallel. 12V U X etc. Figure 7.
