Historic House Destroyed by Fire Fire destroyed a colonial era house. Determined that the cause of the fire was a defect in a portable electric space heater resulting in a large replacement value settlement for the insurance company and an additional historic value settlement for the homeowner. Copper Pipe Damage in Large Home All copper pipes in an 8,000- ft 2 house required replacement due to pinhole leaks. Homeowner's experts claimed the leaks were due to electrolysis caused by outside stray currents entering the piping, a covered loss. Investigation determined that the cause was water chemistry, not electrolysis resulting in client's denial of the claim for the cost of the pipe replacement.
