4 What is UV Curing? UV Curing is the drying or hardening of inks, coatings and adhesives via polymerization (chemical bonding). Manufacturers are rapidly adopting this process because it is faster and more environmentally friendly than the evaporation of VOCemitting solvents. Chances are that several times today you have touched an object that was UV cured" by simply reaching for your morning cereal box, handling a CD or DVD, reading a magazine, using your credit card, typing on your keyboard, driving your car, or just walking on your floor.

8 Technology Comparison Arc lamps: emit light by using an electric arc inside a gas to excite atoms, which then decay, emitting short-wavelength photons in the process. Mercury is the most commonly used elemental gas. SLM: Semiconductors emit a specific wavelength of light at the junction where doped semiconductor positive holes join with negative electrons when voltage is applied.
