Bring understanding to the roles and responsibilities What is the plan? Understanding of campus assembly points Discuss evacuation routes Answer any questions
Executive will form the emergency operation centre (EOC) and give direction to evacuation/event by: Managing communications Liaising with community agencies DND notification Policy decisions Financial decisions
P&ER Team will manage the event at ground level from an operational aspect: Incident Commander Stewart/Rod/or Dale P&ER Team assembly points & key locations Will have bullhorns to assist with letting people know what they are to do/or where to go Direct emergency vehicles & traffic to keep everyone safe Incident Commander to keep EOC informed of situation Take direction from either the EOC or emergency responders
Security: May participate at site Manage the office phones Initiate bells for evacuation when directed Provide/assist with traffic control
Fire Wardens: Alarm bells ring Clear the building - close but do not lock your door. If possible close windows. Move people to Assembly points Assist with crowd control
Security notified of forest fire event Security will notify P&ER/Director & Communications P&ER team will come to base 7B right away and institute emergency protocols by turning radios to channel 1 Incident Commander contacts EOC/Dan Tulip and opens line of communication
P&ER Team will be dispatched (with emergency kits/bullhorns) to cover assembly points and key locations Security follows emergency notification protocol: When directed initiates announcement and rings bells Continues to repeat 3 times then leaves bells on Fire wardens respond to bells & ensure buildings are evacuated to assembly points P&ER Team will manage and keep people informed at assembly points; or Off campus when directed by EOC/Emergency Responders
Wardens direct people out of buildings and to assembly points As always people must evacuate buildings and go to the nearest assembly point P&ER staff assist with gathering people at assembly points Must be sure everyone is clear of emergency responder vehicles and routes
In the event that an exit route or potential exit route is impacted - several alternate routes have been laid out Direction will come from Incident Command as to which route to use P&ER staff at assembly points & key locations will direct people to appropriate/safe exit routes

During high alert periods If a fire alarm goes off If an evacuation order is given Post evacuation Instructors are expected to have printed class lists in each class. Each Program/School Manager will determine how to arrange for this. Instructor takes class list to assembly point. Return to building as directed. Instructor checks off student names as they leave the assembly point. Instructor gives list to Warden before departing. Warden returns all lists to Incident Command (Wardens will be given instructions). RRU Emergency Support Services (ESS) group updates lists. sent Students-OnCampus reminding them to check in if they have not done so already. ESS passes lists back to program staff to follow up with students who have not checked in.
Three options In person at the Emergency Evacuation Centre (Juan de Fuca Seniors Centre) By to By phone (number TBD)
Options will be available for students, staff and faculty who have self-identified with Accessibility Services or Human Resources Options will also be available those who have not self-identified Please help us all by watching out for one another and asking for help if you know of someone who needs assistance
