6 Number of Fire Drills for 2015: 7 Number of Fire Drills for 2016: 8 Number of Fire Drills for 2017: 8 The fire safety system of Copiah-Lincoln Community College includes fire extinguishers and fire hydrants around each campus housing facility. Smoke detectors are placed in every campus housing room. Alarms are also located throughout each campus housing facility along with diagrams of fire evacuation routes. Additional cameras were placed in Stevens Hall in 2013 to deter fire alarms being pulled. This has been effective.

7 If a fire should occur, an immediate call to Campus Police or the Dormitory Host/Hostess should be made. The Wesson Fire Department may also be called in case of a fire. Fire and insurance regulations prohibit the burning of any material in the residence halls. Candles are not permitted. Smoking is now prohibited on all areas of campus. In 2014, a fire suppression system was added to Ellis Hall. In 2017, dual detectors were placed in residence halls that are gas heated. These detect carbon monoxide, as well as smoke. Those residence halls are Franklin, Simpson, Lincoln, Lawrence and Copiah. In 2017, fire extinguishers were checked and replaced as needed. The setting of, or adding to, unauthorized fires on college premises, willful damage or misuse of fire prevention equipment, initiation of a false fire alarm or failure to evacuate during a fire alarm or drill is a violation of the Code of Conduct. Fire Safety and Prevention information is posted annually in the Student Bulletin and placed in each campus housing room. CERT training was held in June 2009 and five of the Dorm Host/Hostesses participated in this training along with Housing Director Allen Kent. IN CASE OF FIRE: 1. If a fire exists, activate the building alarm. 2. Notify Campus Police or your Dormitory Host/Hostess. 3. When the alarm is sounded, walk quickly to the nearest marked exit and alert others to do the same. Report to your dormitory staging area. Stevens Hall residents should NOT use elevators. 4. Students with hearing disabilities and/or other disabilities will have designated roommates, suitemates and Dorm Host/Hostesses responsible for assisting them during such emergencies. 5. Do not return to an evacuated building or site unless authorized by a member of the Emergency Operations Team.

8 6. During evacuations, direct crowds away from fire hydrants, roadways and clear sidewalks immediately adjacent to the building. Ask bystanders to assist in watching windows, doorways, etc. for persons that may be trapped inside. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO RESCUE. NOTIFY EMERGENCY RESPONDENTS OR FIRE DEPARTMENT PERSONNEL. 7. Dorm Host/Hostesses should notify Campus Police of a break or suspected break in utility lines which may present an additional hazard. Campus Police will notify Maintenance and utility companies. 8. Remain at your staging area until the all clear is given. Offer safety training, including fire safety information, for Dormitory Host/Hostesses that have not been trained. 2. Continue to distribute fire safety information to all students and faculty/staff.
