10 Fire Endurance Testing of Water-filled CPVC Pipe test requirements were : pipe: 1 ¼ SDR 13.5 (PN 16) temperature from 900 C t o 1200 C flow rate ca. 32 l/min test was run for 30 min. without leakage stagnant water pressure of 3 +/- 0.5 bar for 30 min. followed by hydrostatic pressure test of 4.2 bar for 5 min.

30 Handling & Storage of CPVC Keep pipe & fittings in cartons to protect them from damage & to maintain cleanliness Inspect pipe for splits, cuts, & gouges Cover outside stored pipe with an opaque tarp to protect from UV light Handle pipe and fittings with care Never throw fittings to the ground Never drop or drag pipe Avoid contamination of pipe and fittings with petroleum based products such as cutting or packing oils

32 Deburring / Bevelling / Chamfering Debur, bevel, chamfer both inner and outer end of pipe by using a - chamfering tool - other tool (file) This is necessary to make sure that pipe end bottoms in the fitting

33 Test fit the pipe and fitting. The pipe should enter the fitting socket easily ¼ to ¾ of the way Use a clean, dry rag to remove dirt and moisture from the fitting socket and pipe end BlazeMaster CPVC Fitting preparation

34 One-Step Solvent Cementing Apply cement to the pipe end, in the fitting socket, and on the pipe end again Insert pipe end into socket and rotate pipe a ¼ turn. Hold for 10 seconds.

35 Painting of CPVC Pipe Use a water-based acrylic latex paint only! Use of oil or solvent-based paints may be chemically incompatible with the CPVC Attain approval from the local authority prior to painting as the markings on the listed pipe should not be covered

36 Chemical Compatibility CPVC can be damaged through contact with chemicals found in some construction products such as edible oils, petroleum- or solvent-based sealants, lubricants or firestop materials and glycol-based antifreeze Verify chemical compatibility with the manufacturer of the product
