Harridass in October He envisioned an organization dedicated to ensuring that his clients receive a professional offering of successful leadership in advancing health, safety and environmental management within their operations. Dayanand Harridass has over fifteen (15) years extensive experience in the energy industry, having worked in various HSE Advisory capacities and has a firm understanding of the drivers for demonstrably excellent standards in health and safety. Within this regard, he embraces the philosophy that although complying with health and safety law is a fundamental pre-requisite in any developed society, there is a need for employers to fulfil their moral obligations to their workforce. Whilst being fully cognisant of the financial interplay between developing and maintaining the initiatives which are essential adjuncts to sound safety management, and balancing operational imperatives so that all expenditure is appropriated with due consideration, Dayanand remains mindful of the current and transient nature of the economic climate. He is passionate in his view that a positive health and safety culture is an essential pre-requisite for a well-motivated and productive work community. Dayanand is also a registered lecturer for the NEBOSH Level 6 Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health as well as the NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health. His wealth of experience in the energy sector has positioned him as a Senior Independent Assessor with The Energy Chamber of Trinidad and Tobago. 2 He has been authorized by the Safe to Work (STOW) Implementation Board to work alongside contractors who perform work within the energy sector of Trinidad and Tobago, to guide and assist them with the implementation of their Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Management Systems to meet the STOW-TT Minimum HSE Requirements or to audit organizations who have completed implementation of their HSE system to meet the STOW- TT requirements. Mr. Harridass holds an MSc in Safety and Risk Management from the Heriot Watt University. He also holds the NEBOSH Level 6 Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health along with the NEBOSH Level 6 Diploma in Environmental Management, both from the UK. He is a Graduate Member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH), Leicestershire, UK and a Full Member of the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (IIRSM), London, UK, as well as a Certified Lead Auditor for OHSAS 18001:2007. Solace Safety Diagnostics Limited offers the following services: Provide HSE Consultancy Services in the development and implementation of HSE Management Systems (HSEMS) that meet internationally accredited health and safety management system requirements e.g. OHSAS 18001:2007. Alignment of the HSEMS to meet the STOW-TT Minimum HSE Requirements and approved codes of practice in the industry. Provide training to Organisations geared towards development of employee competency. Key areas of training provided include IOSH Managing Safely, IOSH Working Safely, Risk Assessment & Risk Management, Incident Investigation, Hazardous Communication and Emergency Response. Conduct risk assessments and advise Organisations on the most cost effective and practicable control measures to be implemented to manage risks within an acceptable level. Conduct STOW-TT Final Certification Assessments on behalf of the Energy Chamber and recommend Organisation s for award of Certification at the respective level to the STOW-TT Implementation Board. Conduct Gap Analysis of a Company s Health, Safety and Environmental Management System against the STOW-TT Minimum HSE Requirements. Conduct legal reviews of a Company s operational activities in compliance to applicable national legislation. Conduct internal audits of a Company s Health, Safety and Environmental Management System in the capacity of a Lead Auditor for OHSAS 18001:2007.
