3 What is a Security Master Plan? Definitions Security Freedom from danger or harm, precautions taken to guard against crime or sabotage. Keeping the bad guys out or in, depending on application. Ensuring the safety of a building/facility s occupants. Ensuring the safety and maintenance of mission critical facilities/functions/infrastructures. 3

4 Definitions (cont.) Crime prevention The anticipation, recognition and appraisal of a crime risk and the initiation of some action to remove or reduce it. Campus The grounds, often including the buildings, of a college, university, or school Physical Security Security measures that are designed to deny access to unauthorized personnel (including attackers or even accidental intruders) from physically accessing a building, facility, resource, or stored information.
