3 vertical freezers at -40 C The K FREEZELAB SUPER_S e KBPF-PP lines create a new standard for lower-temperature refrigeration (-20 C up to -40 C) for laboratories: - highly advanced refrigeration technology with internal ventilation and without defrost problems; low consumption; high T uniformity - lock and key to close it, - 90-mm. insulation with heated gaskets - NIA (New Ice Age Control) electronic digital instruments for maximum safety: essential for demanding users or when the laboratory has a quality certification. The LCD display informs about the system s operation status and temperature. Backlit alphanumeric LCD display Easy to read, it continually informs users about the operation condition of the biological freezer and gives timely warnings about possible alarm conditions and the need to call technical support in case of failure. The innovation is in its explicit written communication, compared with obsolete solutions that inform via LED that have to be interpreted by the user. Alarm management is completed by functional pre-alarm situations to facilitate things for the user and give even more safety to the product and laboratory activity. The alarms use an active buzzer and intermittent lights (all with activation of remote-alarm relays): - high/low internal temperature alarm, which provides a pre-alarm function that, for a time determined by KW, displays the abnormal condition but does not trigger the sound alarm or the remote visual alarm, in case there is a spontaneous correction of the issue and not to create excessive alarms for the final user. 4 vertical freezers at -40 C Green ICE For each temperature alarm, the controller records the following data: - type of alarm HT (high T) LT (low T), black-out (high temperature to cut off power) - critical temperature alarm: maximum for HT and black-out, minimum for LT - day/month/year/hour:minutes since alarm started - alarm duration (for HT and LT) - day/month/year/hour:minutes since back-out started For the previous conditions, the buzzer is activated in addition to the visual display. 5 door hinge compensation valve remote alarm REFRIGERATION: Ventilated refrigeration: this is because of the large volume in the work chamber, but there are minimal T differences in the internal space = max. uniformity of the temperature parameter. The refrigeration system is fully sealed; it uses a circuit with innovative components (copper coils connected to the external walls of the internal chamber) and fluids to obtain, together, maximum cooling reliability and performance; the KBPF600X-PP (-40 C) version has a airtight 1.7 HP compressor with high refrigerating capacity and low noise (value Leq db (A) < 55). Both versions have a large storage capacity and are adaptable to elevated temperature loads; in particular, version PP allows giving an adequate response to broad variations in temperature loads in order to guarantee -40 C. This last solution, Power-Plus, has a thermostatic expansion valve, MOP, with electrovalves and liquid reservoirs. It has extensive air condensation surfaces to compensate even the harshest environmental and work conditions. Both versions guarantee low levels of consumption and noise. The aforementioned systems do not require defrost, so they work with minimal T fluctuations in time = max. stability of the temperature parameter. THERMOREGULATION AND CONTROL: This line has been equipped with the prestigious and innovative controller (exclusive by KW!) NEW ICE AGE COMPACT KW CONTROL. KW has introduced a new electronic control for biological freezers and all refrigeration systems with quality higher than the standard. This is an evolution in terms of quality regarding the management of refrigerating machines: KW has researched how to provide greater reliability to the entire system with lower power consumption, and extreme flexibility in adapting to different environmental conditions for laboratory use. Other innovations: easy to read and use even by technically nonqualified users; many opportunities to profit from the storage of alarms, work configurations and significant events to maintain the quality of Set T. Advantages for users Freezer is always efficient, with low consumption and operation costs in time and the preservation of biological products at a constant temperature. User security: the following functions are accessible only to the entitled personnel, through a dedicated password: - ON/OFF - T set-point change - Access to the Service Menu, for the function parameters. Safety Control In case the regulation sensor breaks down, the safety of the stored product is maintained by the activation of timed thermostabilization with compressor on/off times collected before the sensor s breakdown (adaptability to environmental work conditions!). The event is stored in memory and the failure alarm is activated. NIGHT & DAY: during the night, when the user procedures and stored product so permit, it is possible to raise the set temperature by a predefined value, thereby obtaining important energy savings. During the period of activation of the night setting, any lights in the refrigerator compartment are also switched off. The failure of one of the sensors automatically transfers the regulation function to the other, including an alarm event. Regarding the 2-ch Kit s applications, its operation can be configured in two different modes: 1. both sensors work like regulators (through averages) and set point deviation alarms (KW default solution); or they can be just alarms (independent from the set point) 2. one sensor works like a regulator and one as set point or absolute deviation alarm. If different from the default, the configuration must be requested to KW by the customer. RS 485 serial port for PC interface. Serial Port USB: (universal serial bus) to quickly and easily transfer all information Automatic recording of the temperature and alarms (data logger functions). Data logger: The controller periodically records the store-room temperature. The data can be received and transferred to a PC by means of the Data Pocket transceiver and the serial receiver. The ColdMaster supervision software allows visualising and printing (in graph of table format) the recorded temperature data. The controller enters the records into two T channels (if furnished with the 2-ch monitoring kit). The memory capacity allows making an entry every 20 minutes for approximately 4 months. The IR transceiver automatically recognizes the s/n of the controller card for each individual machine, allowing the operator to download data in succession (from up to 16 refrigeration installations) and then export them sorted to the PC (see detailed explanation in the chapter on KW s NEW ICE AGE COMPACT CONTROL). So, the (optional) Data Pocket Kit includes: - IR transceiver - IR receiver for PC - ColdMaster management software Advantages for technical support When they receive the customer s call, KW s technical support service already knows about the type of failure, which is displayed, and target its intervention. The information available in the controller s Service menu lets KW s technical support service know about the usage status of the freezer and allows defining corrective actions. 6 vertical freezers at -40 C Green ICE The InfoTest function allows the user to replicate the same test types performed at the factory. InfoTest executes functional tests for the biological freezer, with report printing if necessary, without engaging external devices. This tool is configured in just a few seconds by means of the fast selection of one of the resident programs. Special functions Info Test Allows the execution of the functional test, with its potent diagnostic features, on the refrigeration equipment, either during the manufacturing stage or during technical support activities. The test has several verification stages and can be activated through the Data Pocket transmitter (optional) or the controller s keyboard on the machine. The data regarding time and temperature for each stage are available from the display or downloaded via an optional IR transmitter using a dedicated interface. Safety Control Even if the regulation sensor breaks down (NTC standard, RTD optional), the temperature of the preservation compartments does not undergo significant variations because the controller continues to run a timed thermostabilization with compressor on/off times recovered before the sensor broke down (adaptability to environmental work conditions!). The event is stored in memory and the failure alarm is activated. Disaster recovery: the destruction of the CPU allows cycling the functions on the remote unit, with the exception of data visualization. Environmental adaptability (optional) the condenser vents are managed separately by means of a sensor; this allows: - dissipate the residual heat on the condenser after the compressor is turned off when the temperature measured at the exchanger exceeds a parameter configured by KW (with great benefit for the motocompressor) - discover insufficient heat exchange situations with warnings about condenser obstruction (prevention and thus maximum reliability) - gather the maximum temperature admissible by the condenser, with compressor blocking and forced vent activity until a reset temperature established by KW is reached (great benefit for the motocompressor) Service Check Discovery of functional damage with display of the cause. In case of failure a provisional operation modality is activated while waiting for repair. The last 32 failures are stored in memory and can be read by entering a password. The controller also records all door openings during the day, indicating which exceeded the time limit. The operation times for defrosting and motocompressor operation are also recorded. A machine and compressor counter can be seen in the SERVICE MENU. Alarms Monitoring Temperature alarm display and storage in memory allow the final user to know, 24/7, the conservation status of the stored biological materials, avoiding future direct controls. Alarm management is completed by functional pre-alarm situations to facilitate things for the user and give even more safety to the product and laboratory activity. Keyboard and display The keyboard has an I/O switch, a MENU key to select functions, + (increase) and - (decrease) keys to modify parameter values for the functions selected with MENU, and an ENTER key to confirm the chosen values. The AUX key turns an auxiliary function on or off: an internal light, for example (if present). The controller allows undertaking failure prevention activities automatically, continually monitoring the surrounding environment and suggesting useful behaviours to the end user in order to maintain the safety of stored products and energy savings. In short, it allows safe and measurable operation savings! HIGH T. COND. In case a condenser T is equal to or higher than the value entered by KW, the controller enters a protection phase, forcing the shutdown of all outputs. In addition, an error message is generated. The protection status and the error message persist until T does not drop 10 C below the parameter defined by KW. Then the controller can go back to its normal operation cycle. The message is cancelled by pressing a key. COND. DIRTY In case the difference between the min. and max. temperature recorded by the condenser exceeds a parameter entered by KW, this error message is generated. It persists until a key is pressed. This event is recorded in the failure memory. LOW T. EVAP. If a closed door shows an evaporation T lower than a parameter determined by KW regarding the set point, this error message is generated. It persists until a key is pressed and the evaporator T is above the critical value. This event is recorded in the failure memory. LT If the internal T goes outside the critical min. / max. temperature range for a time greater than that entered (programmable upon request), the temperature alarm is activated. This event is recorded in the failure memory. HT Some examples of displayed communication: COMP. USE In case the compressor s daily operation % exceeds a parameter determined by KW, generating this error message; the message persists until the controller is turned off and then back on.
