2 August 2015 International Participation A workshop for developing an International Workshop Agreement on Drip irrigation will be held on Oct in Tel Aviv, Israel Following approval by the Technical Management Board of a proposal from SII (Israel), a workshop for the purpose of developing an International Workshop Agreement on Drip irrigation will be held at Crowne Plaza Hotel, Tel Aviv, Israel from 12 to 15 October. An IWA is an ISO document produced through workshop meeting(s) and not through the technical committee process. Any interested party can propose an IWA and can participate in developing one. An ISO member body will be assigned to organize and run the workshop meeting(s) resulting in the IWA. Market players and other stakeholders directly participate in IWA and do not have to go through a national delegation. An IWA can be produced on any subject. An IWA can be developed swiftly (published in less than 12 months) to address a rapidly emerging market need or public policy requirement. The ISO brand can give international recognition and credibility to your organization s work. IWAs can be used as precursors to International Standards For more information on the draft program and registration form, please Tim Wheeler, National Sector Manager: Tim.Wheeler@standards.org.au, or Bronwyn Walker, National Sector Manager: Bronwyn.Walker@standards.org.au by 30 August New Projects No new projects have been approved for development for the Agriculture, Forestry, Fishing and Food Sector between 2 July 2015 and 5 August Drafts for Public Comment The Drafts for Public Comment stage is an important part of the Standards development process. 5 Withdrawals and Reconfirmations Standards Australia is committed to maintaining a contemporary and relevant suite of Australian Standards. This is to ensure our stakeholders, and especially the users of products and services based on our Standards, are confident that our Standards mirror contemporary practice, are technologically up to date, and reflect current views on safety, quality and environmental impact. For a list of aged Australian Standards that are proposed for withdrawal or reconfirmation, please refer to the "Proposed Projects and Withdrawals" section on the Standards Australia website. No Australian Standards have been submitted for withdrawal for the Agriculture, Forestry, Fishing and Food Sector between 2 July 2015 and 5 August 2015.

6 August 2015 International Participation Proposal on a new field of technical activity: Rare Earth The scope of this new field of technical activity is standardisation in the field of rare earth ores, concentrates, metals, alloys, compounds, materials, including the reuse and recycling of waste rare earth products. It is proposed to develop a three-category standard system for the full life cycle of rare earth, the first category being basic standards; the second, testing and analysis standards; and the third, rare earth product standards. Category 1: Basic standards; terms and definitions; designation system; packing, marking, transport and storage; Category 2: Testing and analysis standards; chemical analysis of rare earth concentrates, metals and materials; determination of particle size and specific surface area of rare earth compounds; Category 3: Product standards; rare earth product standards from concentrates to materials, including reuse and recycling aspects. Priorities will be given to the items listed in the first and second categories, because common understanding of definitions and common testing methods are essential for producers and users of rare earths globally. They are the base for the standardisation of rare earths internationally.
