1 USAGE GUIDE FOR EM EM 1 is a fermented blend of beneficial bacteria and yeast (not the kind that causes yeast infections, which is called Candida albicans), namely Lactic Acid Bacteria, Yeast, and Photosynthetic/Phototrophic Bacteria. The organisms in EM 1 are completely safe for healthy adult animals and humans and is not genetically modified. Directions: For Daily Maintenance: Adults take 1 teaspoon 3 times per day with meals*. Mix with water or juice. (Try it with lemonade. It tastes great!) Do not store EM 1 in direct sunlight. Store in closed container at room temperature. Do not freeze. Any surface that can be cleaned with water can be sprayed or soaked with EM 1. Spray as an air freshener, use it in your laundry, spray in the shower or tub, water your plants with it.

2 Dilution and several useage guides: Deodorizer & Cleaning: Mix 1 ounce of EM 1 Microbial Inoculant per pint of water and spray around the house and in the car. Smoke from cigarettes or cigars can ruin the smell of a room. You can get rid of the smell with a 1:10 dilution of EM 1 to water in a spray bottle and spritz the entire room or house. For best results on carpeted areas or upholstered furniture, soak the solution in using an upholstery cleaning machine or a carpet cleaner. The aroma of fresh home cooking can be delightful. However, some foods like fish and curries leave lingering smells that become unpleasant. EM 1 can help! Larger areas may be deoderized by adding 1/4 cup EM 1 in a vaporizer, plug it in, and let it run for a few hours. The house will smell like warm molasses while the EM 1 is fogging the room. After about 4 or 5 minutes, the smell should be gone completely. If you own a pet, it is inevitable that at one time or another that the animal is going either have an accident on the floor, or track in some stench from outside. Simply spray the animal with a 1:10 dilution of EM 1 to water. Or, you can add about 1/4 cup of EM 1 to your pet's bath water. EM 1 is perfectly safe for all animals.

3 Pet Accidents: For accidents on porous surfaces, such as carpets and brick, you can soak the area with a 1:10 dilution of EM 1 to water. After it dries, if there is still some odor, apply once more. Two times should do the trick. For kennels, animal hospitals, animal stalls, or other large areas, use a sprayer, such as the hose-end sprayer. This is the easiest way to cover a large area quickly. Skunk: If you have ever had the misfortune of an animal being sprayed by a skunk, you'll know that the odor burns the eyes and lungs and you'd do anything to get rid of the smell. EM 1 will get rid of it in seconds. If the 1:10 dilution doesn't work, feel free to put it on undiluted. Litter Box or cages: If you have a pet that uses a litter box or lives in a cage (hampsters, rats, etc.) you can add about 2 cups of EM 1 Rice Bran Bokashi to fresh litter. It will control the smell of urine and feces.

4 Laundry: Wash all new clothing with about 1/8 cup of EM 1 Microbial Inoculant per load of laundry. *NOTE: For light-colored fabrics, dilute to around 1 ounce per gallon of water to avoid discoloring the fabric. Plants: EM 1 helps to grow healthy and vibrant house plants. Mix 3/4 teaspoon of EM 1 in a gallon of water and water your plants. You can also mist the plants once or twice a week with this solution. If you are in the habit of watering on a daily basis, use a 1/4 teaspoon in the gallon of water and water daily. Make sure to feed the plants some nutrients once a month or so to prevent nutrient loss from the EM 1. (The microbes need food too and will use some of the nutrients in the potting soil to survive.) You can also mix in some EM 1 Bokashi with the potting soil when you are potting the plants. Usually a ratio of 1%- 3% of EM 1 Bokashi is added to the potting soil.

5 Cut Flowers: One of the biggest problems with cut flowers is that they wilt (called shrink in the floral industry). Florists use all kinds of synthetic products to treat and attempt to prevent this from happening. EM 1 is a great way to keep from having to use these chemicals at home, and the flowers with stay fresh longer too. Just add EM 1 to their water. It will keep the gunk from forming in the water and will also prevent the water from starting to smell, while keeping your cut flowers beautiful and fresh longer. Extend the bloom time of your favorite cut flowers by adding just 1 teaspoon of EM 1 per gallon of water.
