Other grass sensitive are: zoysia, seashore paspalum and kikuyugrass Primary use on Tall fescue, Kentucky blue grass Safe on warm season grass: Centipedegrass, St. Aug. turf farm only, injury will occur. Weed control: crabgrasses, goosegrass, love grass, yellow nutsedge and many broadleaf weeds

DeFrank s Tenacity spray is to the left of the yellow line. Dead Love and Goosegrass is due to overlap of last Tenacity spray and C&C boom spray with Sencor + MSMA. 401 untreated plot 405 with Tenacity applied 7 days prior to photos DeFrank s Tenacity spray extended from the marked plot area to 5 to 6 feet beyond the back of plots. Note lack of Love grass kill in the untreated strip above the area with multiple herbicide applications.

42 Results of Revolver or Celsius Applied 1 st wait 2 weeks then follow with Tenacity + Sencor 1. Goose grass control was slightly better with Revolver than Celsius applied 2 weeks prior T+S application. 2. Celsius appeared to cause a slight reduction to T+S activity. 3. Addition of MSMA did not add noticeably more activity on Goose grass that T+S alone. 4. 2X application in demo area establishes best activity on Goose grass with 5 oz/a Ten. and 8 oz/a Sen.

Tenacity 4 oz/a + Sencor 8 oz/a applied 2X s very good for many grassy weeds in Bermuda, Kaki weed/legumes too days after Ten+Sen and no PREs = seedling weeds need to be controlled.

62 Conclusions of Waipio Complex winter 2013 clean up 1. Nov & Dec Bermuda Grass is most in need of release from grassy weed encroachment days after 2 nd Ten+Sen = apply preemergence for GG seedling control needed. Rainy weather = more timely seedling weed control needed. 3. Dismiss + Barricade best at GG pre-tiller stage. Larger sizes not controlled. 4. Complete BG fill in post 2Xs w/ten+sen = days. 5. Spot treatments needed for larger escaped goose grass and other grassy weeds. 6. Better to prevent seedlings growth with preemergence.

63 Spot treatments based on broadcast spray application Waipio broadcast spray application: Tenacity = 5 oz/a Sencor = 8 oz/a Use Meter Jet spray gun with TeeJet Full cone tip = TG-3 Application height to produce an 18 in. diameter circle 1X rate 1 Gallon of spot mix = 1.5 ml Tenacity 2.3 grams Sencor 38 ml MSO = 1% v/v 18 in. 70 Conclusions of Waipio Complex 1, 2 & 4X Spot treatments All spot applications caused noticeable circles in common Bermuda grass. 2. 4X spot was most noticeable 3. 4X provided 1-application kill of large goose grass 4. 2X spot application ok 1-shot on small goose grass=6 LF 5. 1X injury gone in 18 days 6. 4X injury gone in 53 days 7. TeeJet TG-3 solid cone tip has higher deposition on outer band of cone. NEXT SUMMER START PROGRAM

93 Herbicide type and application sequence work together to control problem grassy weeds 1. Revolver + Celsius kills old roots allows for new roots from stem nodes. 2. Specticle prevents new roots from entering the soil, provides wider window for control. 3. Tenacity moves to actively growing areas and kills new roots. 4. Sencor enhances Tenacity action in leaves. 5. All factors work together for control of GG & LG at reduced Sencor rates (i.e. 2-4 oz/a)
