2 PAVING GRID The tried and trusted permeable paving system. Manufactured in the UK from 100% recycled material and designed to work with and support a range of materials including earth, grass and gravel, our Paving Grid delivers a simple, cost-effective surfacing solution. THE SIMPLE SURFACING SOLUTION Easy to use, our durable, anti-slip grids are also frost- and UV-resistant; they will not crack, rot or splinter and they deliver structural integrity with an exceptionally high load bearing capacity of 350t/m 2. STRENGTHEN, STABILISE AND PROTECT ALL SURFACES AGAINST HEAVY VEHICULAR, PEDESTRIAN AND ANIMAL TRAFFIC Ideal for all areas of high usage from foot traffic; vehicular traffic; wheelchairs; animals and bicycles and for creating low maintenance access roads, parking areas and hardstandings. Our Paving Grids can be infilled with grass; gravel; sand; earth or stones, making them aesthetically pleasing and adaptable to any setting and situation. This is especially beneficial in areas where the use of hard landscaping materials would typically have a negative visual impact. In contrast to other materials, the porous surface of our grids fully supports drainage, with the cells allowing for water to be held for gradual release into the ground, helping to reduce the spread of urban hot spots and flood risk zones. KEY BENEFITS Environmentally friendly and sustainable Manufactured in the UK 100% recycled and 100% recyclable Quick and easy to install Lightweight Frost- and UV-resistant Water-permeable Low maintenance High load bearing capacity of up to 350 tonnes/m² Easy connection system Anti-slip surface Tried and tested throughout Europe for many years Cost effective surface solution Withstands thermal expansion Guaranteed for 20 years Easy to transport Non-toxic Choice of infill materials, including gravel and grass Achieve the appearance of grass, gravel or earth with the strength of hard surfacing materials For permanent and temporary use APPLICATIONS Car Parks - permanent and temporary Construction Sites Private Roads Driveways Footpaths and Walkways Wheelchair Access Routes Emergency Vehicle Access Routes Residential Parking Tow Paths Golf Course Paths Cycle Paths Aircraft Parking Helipads Hardstandings for Sheds, Outbuildings and Caravans Green Roofing Festival Sites and Showgrounds Outdoor Attractions Farms and Agricultural Areas Grass Parking Areas Campsites Playgrounds Grass-Seeded Areas and Green Spaces Stables, Paddocks and Riding Arenas Embankment Stabilisation And much more

4 PAVING GRID WITH GRASS INFILL Parking markers can be used to delineate areas as required Module filled with root zone to within 3mm of the surface, then topped with grass seed Bedding layer of 50-70mm of root zone (must be compacted) B A C D E F Open grade sub-base layer. Drainage may be required. Depth of sub-base layer depends on the strength of the existing subsoil/base Geotextile Membrane Existing subsoil/base
5 BEFORE AFTER INSTALLATION GUIDELINES The below guidelines are based on usage for car parking with light to medium vehicle access, with soil infill and grass seeding. 01 The existing subsoil/ base (F) should first be tested to determine strength and permeability. Excavate/level the subsoil/base in preparation for the laying procedure as detailed below. 02 Cover the subsoil with a layer of Geotextile Membrane (E). 03 Apply an open grade sub-base (D). Drainage may be required if subsoil has poor permeability. The depth of this sub-base will depend on the strength and permeability of the existing subsoil. For the purpose of these installation guidelines we have assumed a CBR strength of the subsoil of 2-4, which requires a subbase depth of mm. If the strength of the subsoil is deemed to be lower than this, the depth of sub-base will need to be increased accordingly. It is essential that the sub-base is compacted with a vibrating roller or vibrating plate. 04 Apply a bedding layer of 50-70mm (C) of or root zone. The bedding layer must be compacted. 05 Apply AHS Paving Grid (B). Fill the grid with more of the root zone, to within 3mm of the surface of the grid. Do not overfill the paving cells. 06 A vibrating plate can then be used to firm the grid and root zone infill. 07 The area can now be seeded and watered. Do not overfill the paving cells. 08 The seeded area can be driven on immediately. However we strongly recommend that you allow time for root establishment before using. Watering is essential during the early days/weeks of establishment, especially during times of exceptionally hot weather. 09 Edging and/or kerbing should be used with AHS Paving Grid to prevent lateral movement and ensure the grid is able to withstand pressure from vehicular and pedestrian use. 10 Maximum recommended gradient for vehicular use is 11. The above notes are intended as a guide only. AHS Ltd will be happy to advise and discuss regarding the site in question. AHS Ltd accepts no responsibility for any damage or loss as a result of using the information within these guidelines. 6 PAVING GRID WITH GRAVEL INFILL Parking markers can be used to delineate areas as required Module filled with decorative gravel or angular aggregate of 8-15mm in size Bedding layer of sharp sand or similar (must be compacted) B A C D E F Open grade sub-base layer. The bedding layer must be compacted. 05 Apply AHS Paving Grid (B). Fill the grid with decorative gravel or angular aggregate of 8-15mm in size. 06 A vibrating plate can then be used to firm the grid and gravel infill. Once this has been completed, you may top up with further gravel. 07 The area can be driven on immediately. Once the work has been completed. 08 Edging and/or kerbing should be used with AHS Paving Grid to prevent lateral movement and ensure the grid is able to withstand pressure from vehicular and pedestrian use. 09 Maximum recommended gradient for vehicular use is 11.
