1 Program Summary: Providing it s rural community access to high quality healthcare services, this state-of-art hospital is supported by a free standing Emergency Department. Program Statement: The Parish was in dire need of an emergency hospital to serve between 10,000 and 12,000 patients each year on the west side of the Mississippi River. The objective was to design a facility able to provide round-the-clock, first class healthcare to the parish. The parish president, who pushed to give his community the facility, desired a place that was warm and welcoming yet incorporates the latest in medical treatment and technology. Being a publicly funded project, it was necessary to be good stewards of the budget. The resultant is a highly functional, easy to maintain medical facility that addresses the healthcare needs of the growing community. A05.01 Building Area: (sf) 43,000 Cost per Square Foot: $ Construction Cost $19,852,837 Date of Completion: 2014 The Emergency Department is accompanied by an ambulatory care center, diagnostic laboratory, radiology, and clinic services. The result is a welcoming and inviting environment for those requiring specialty care. Materials were manipulated to create eye catching, high-tech features in public spaces while using budget friendly materials in other areas. Design elements of line and form with an emphasis on color creates a comfortable yet energetic atmosphere.

3 A05.03 The north-facing glass expanse allows natural daylight to penetrate the public waiting space enhancing the calm, peaceful environment. The waiting area is defined with the use of an eye catching wood ceiling element, warm tones, and a dynamic floor pattern mimicking the flow of the nearby Mississippi river.

4 A05.04 Rough faced block creates a sleek façade contrasting with the facility s rural surroundings. Clerestories create a distinct entry for the clinic and ambulatory services for the Emergency Department.

5 A05.05 Designed as the central spine of the facility, the corridor connects the clinic and the Emergency Department using progressive floor patterns while clerestories and exterior glazing flood the space with natural light. The rhythm of exterior windows enhances the circulation pattern.

6 A05.06 Greeting guests upon entry, the reception desks are accented with a combination of timeless, rich wood tones highlighted with linear metal bands. Taking advantage of generous ceiling heights achieved through careful coordination with engineers, overhanging ceiling planes are both functional and playful. LED lighting accent these suspended bands to create a peripheral sense of space under various gathering areas.

7 A05.07 Suspended ribbons of color and light allow for easy wayfinding to the interior nurses stations. The vibrant colors and the repetition of the winding path creates a cheerful and energetic work environment.

8 A05.08 Integrated with high technology equipment, the treatment and radiology rooms continue the aesthetic of the facility by infusing a splash of color highlighted by the warm wood tones of the modular casework.
